Tallulah Gorge State Park - sliding down Bridal Veil Falls
Erin and I got up early to secure permits to hike the gorge floor trail at Tallulah Gorge State Park in Georgia. The trail is incredible. It gets somewhat technical and physically demanding at points. You will cross streams of rushing water and get wet. You will have to climb boulders. You will have to carefully slide across very slick and steep rock faces.
The reward is a spectacular view of the falls and an option to slide down Bridal Veil Falls. Totally worth it.
The climb out is up large rocks for a quarter mile at a 45 degree angle. It is a long quarter mile out. In that short distance, you're gaining about 800 feet of elevation (so says my Strava recording).

Tallulah Gorge - Bridal Veil Falls
Terry and I shot this video at Tallulah Gorge in 2009. Bridal Veil Falls is one of the best natural waterslides around. The trail we used to get down was actually closed but we didn't see the posting until we had already hiked in. There's some footage from the trail at the end, along with some glowing commentary from yours truly.

TALLULAH Gorge State Park II Best Trails II Tallulah Falls, Georgia
Hello friends! I hope you enjoy this trip to the gorge and falls.
The gorge is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Georgia. (#6)
-Wikipedia-
The Tallulah Gorge is a gorge formed by the Tallulah River cutting through the Tallulah Dome rock formation. The gorge is approximately 2 miles (3 km) long and features rocky cliffs up to 1,000 feet (300 m) high. Through it, a series of falls known as Tallulah Falls drop a total of 150 metres (490 ft) in one mile (1.6 km). Tallulah Falls is composed of six separate falls: l'Eau d'Or (second falls you see in this video, Tempesta, Hurricane (the first falls in this video), Oceana, Bridal Veil, and Lovers Leap. The Tallulah Gorge is located next to the town of Tallulah Falls, Georgia.

Pictures start at the Tallulah Lake dam, then show L'Eau d'Or, Tempesta, & Hurricane Falls (from the bridge, base, and rim), Caledonia Cascade (600 ft - top & then bottom), and Oceana falls. Didn't get to see Bridal Veil Falls - maybe when the water's warmer!

Are you looking for a beautiful place to visit in North Georgia? If so, look no further than Tallulah Gorge State Park.
To be honest I didn't know the name of the park was Tallulah Gorge State Park. You see, I'd heard everyone reference the spot we were visiting as Tallulah Falls (if you watch the video below you'll hear me refer to it as Tallulah Falls). That name isn't too far off considering the town where the state park is located is called Tallulah Falls, however there isn't even a waterfall with the same name.
