Caltrain Entire Line Ride (Gilroy to San Francisco) - 5/22/17
For as long as I can remember I have always known of Caltrain and each time I have visited San Francisco I would tell myself I would check it out, but never actually got around to it. But finally, after much consideration and planning, I managed to head out and film the entire Caltrain line from the southern terminus of Gilroy all the way to its northern terminus of San Francisco. I decided to ride Caltrain #221 (Limited) partly due to it being the least busiest of all three northbound trains from Gilroy and partly due to the ever looming electrification of the Caltrain system. In the contrary though, it really is quite amazing to see how busy this line gets and the number of people and communities it serves. The video begins with the departure from the small town of Gilroy where we gradually progress to the city of San Jose. From there we continue through the Silicon Valley and finally to the hustle and bustle of San Francisco. From the ever changing scenery to the dynamic cities we pass through along the way, this route makes for one of the most interesting train rides I've ever had. Whether it is the vast communities it connects or the amazing choreography of baby bullet, limited, and local trains along this one single line, Caltrain is certainly an essential part to the bay region and a prime example of the efficient use of public transportation.
(Please note that I am fully aware of the excessive video shaking and I do apologize greatly for that. This is partly due to having a suction cup mount to the window in order to get a better audio setup and to not be right up against the window. However in a positive way all vibrations are from the train, which could be said that it adds a sense of actually being on the train itself.)

GM EMD Diesel Locos Full CALTRAIN Ride: Sunnyvale to San Francisco - California USA
Caltrain is a California commuter rail line on the San Francisco Peninsula and in the Santa Clara Valley (Silicon Valley). The north end of the line is San Francisco, at 4th and King streets; its south end is Gilroy. Trains leave San Francisco and San Jose about hourly on weekdays, or more frequently during commute hours and for special events (such as sporting events).
The system has 32 stations, 29 served daily and two weekend-only. San Francisco 4th and King Street is the northern terminus of the system, while Gilroy is the southern terminus. Atherton and Broadway are served only on weekends, and Stanford is served only on Stanford University's football game days.[34] College Park is served only on weekdays during Bellarmine College Preparatory's school commute time. Tamien is served by train on weekdays and by shuttle bus on weekends. The five southernmost stations—Capitol, Blossom Hill, Morgan Hill, San Martin, and Gilroy—are served only on weekdays during commute time. Twelve stations are served by the express train service known as Baby Bullet, inaugurated in 2004. Two stations, Sunnyvale and Santa Clara, are not long enough to accommodate six-car trains without minor service impacts. Seven stations (Millbrae, Burlingame, San Carlos, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Santa Clara, and San Jose Diridon) are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
In June 2004, Caltrain finished its two-year CTX (Caltrain Express) project for a new express service called the Baby Bullet. The project entailed new bypass tracks in Brisbane and Sunnyvale as well as a new centralized traffic control system. The Baby Bullet trains reduced travel time by stopping at only four or five stations between San Francisco and San Jose Diridon Station; the express trains could overtake local trains at the two locations (near Bayshore and Lawrence stations) where bypass tracks were added. Travel time for about 46.75 miles between San Francisco and San Jose is 57 minutes (four stops), 59 minutes (five stops) or 61 minutes (six stops), compared to 1 hour 30 minutes for locals. The Baby Bullets have the same top speed of 79 mph (127 km/h) as other trains, but fewer stops save time. The CTX project included the purchase of new Bombardier BiLevel Coaches along with MPI MP36PH-3C locomotives. The Baby Bullets have proved popular, but they skip most stations so many riders have longer commutes on non-bullet trains, some of which wait for Baby Bullet trains to pass.
7/24/19 CalTrain in San Francisco
From July 20th through July 28th, we went on the road and away from Southern California up to Northern California to visit just some of the neat train places as well as some famous landmarks up in the north.
In this video, we will showcase the footage we got of some CalTrain trains we spotted including a NB for San Francisco as well as crossing over the tracks just south of San Francisco terminal where we once again met the two CalTrain cabooses.
Warning, shaky/blurry footage present.

2011.03.17 - From Redwood City to SF on Caltrain
This is better and worse than my previous caltrain time lapse.. better in that the front of the train is a much more interesting view.. worse in that it was raining thus clouding up the window.. and worse in that at San Mateo station my suction mount fell off.
(I left the camera falling down and being put back in.. not sure why. Probably because I was lazy but I think it feels better this way.)
Going to try this again on a sunny day (and make sure I stick the mount on better the first time.)
