At a Knesset ceremony on Thursday (21/08) marking the 100th anniversary of Zionism, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticised the Palestinians for not honouring the
peace agreement and restated Israel's non-negotiable stance on the status of Jerusalem.
Jews from all over the world participated in the ceremony, among them American actress Fran Drescher, known for her role in the sitcom Nanny, and Nobel Peace Prize winner Eli Weisel.

But now we're approaching what in chess is called the end game, that's always the most difficult part. We are approaching those issues that have existential meaning for us, one of them we spoke about - Jerusalem, and you know our policies there. But the issue of borders, the issue of water, all those issues that are so central to defining our future and securing our future, those stand before us. We received a set of agreements and we honoured them, because we keep contracts. But we expect in order to be able to resolve this most difficult negotiation in the history of our nation, we expect that our neighbours, the Palestinians who entered as peace partners in this process, that they too will keep agreements. And the first and most essential obligation they took upon themselves is to fight the terrorist organisations in any territory that came into their domain. And I can say that promise has not been fulfilled.;

HA'APALA - CLANDESTINE IMMIGRATION TO THE LAND OF ISRAEL

Astounding (previously unpublished) Historical Film Footage from Palestine 1932 (now Israel)
Video Description: This film was made by Christadelphian Brother Harry Hay (Newark) in 1932.
It is entitled ‘A Holiday In Israel in 1932.’
We are making it available as it we feel it could be of interest to those who have been fortunate to visit Israel (and even those who haven’t) to appreciate the changes that have taken place since filming and as a witness to the accuracy of the Word of God concerning his chosen people.
Bro Harry Hay was Baptised in Birmingham in 1915 and belonged to Birmingham Central and then Small Heath ecclesia’s. He transferred to Newark ecclesia in 1941 and was a member there until his death in September 1988 aged 91.
Bro Harry made this black and white film of his holiday in Israel in 1932… 86 years ago, early days of home movies and well before the state of Israel was declared by David Ben Gurion on May 14, 1948.
For most of these 85 years, the film was stored in a box.
Harry’s son, John inherited the box along with the other of his father's possessions and it was taken to Scotland when John and his wife Yvonne moved there.
About 6 years ago John had the film converted to DVD.
Shortly after it was made into a DVD John and his wife Yvonne were walking along a street in Edinburgh when they were stopped by a passing motorist.The Lady motorist who stopped them was a little agitated as she did not know her way around Edinburgh and was due to give a lecture in a public building, but had become lost.
John and Yvonne suggested they go with her in her car and guide her to her destination.She accepted their offer and as they chatted she mentioned she was from Jerusalem.John and Yvonne then mentioned their recently converted film from 1932 and she was very interested, as she was a Historian. She gave them her address and dashed off to give her lecture.
John sent her a copy of the DVD and she was delighted with it and with John’s permission it is now officially archived in Jerusalem as a record of social and historical interest.
Concerning the film itself, you will hear Bro Harry’s own commentary of events, and peppered throughout the film are short Bible verses which he felt were relevant.
It seems obvious to us that Bro Harry’s intent was to produce a work that would be a witness to the existence of the God of Israel.
It is evident from the fist still image that the visit took place around Easter time of 1932. Further evidence of this is that the visit coincided with the 1st Maccabiah games which opened on 28th March of that year in Tel Aviv.
Despite its age, the film is in excellent condition as is the audio.
At around 7min you will notice a map appears on screen and the map’s name is ‘EREZ ISRAEL’.
It is highly likely that this map was added to the video sometime after the film was made as maps of 1932 invariably had the title Palestine.

Israel/Occupied Territories - Agreement Reactions
Palestinians and Israelis were on Wednesday (4/5) trying to
work out the ramifications of new Arab self-rule in the Gaza Strip
and Jericho. The landmark autonomy agreement was signed in Cairo
by Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestine Liberation
Organization Chairman Yasser Arafat. About 1,000 prisoners were freed in the Gaza and West Bank during the day. At the Gaza central prison, the last remaining 168 inmates walked to freedom. The Israeli army is
expected to withdraw in about three weeks from the Palestinian
self-rule areas in Gaza and Jericho.

Amazing. Palestinian woman dancing with settlers in central Jerusalem
Under the 1947 UN Partition Plan, which proposed the establishment of two states in the British Mandate of Palestine—a Jewish state and an Arab state—Jerusalem was to be an international city, neither exclusively Arab nor Jewish for a period of ten years, at which point a referendum would be held by Jerusalem residents to determine which country to join. The Jewish leadership accepted the plan, including the internationalization of Jerusalem, but the Arabs rejected the proposal.[6]
As soon as Israel declared its independence in 1948, it was attacked en masse by its Arab neighbours. Jordan took over east Jerusalem and the Old City. Israeli forces made a concerted attempt to dislodge them, but were unable to do so. By the end of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War Jerusalem was left divided between Israel and Jordan. The Old City and East Jerusalem continued to be occupied by Jordan, and the Jewish residents were forced out. Under Jordanian rule, most of the Old City's fifty-eight synagogues were demolished and the Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives was plundered for its tombstones, which were used as paving stones and building materials.[7]
This state of affairs changed in 1967 as a result of the Six-Day War. Before the start of the war, Israel sent a message to King Hussein of Jordan saying that Israel would not attack Jerusalem or the West Bank as long as the Jordanian front remained quiet. Urged by Egyptian pressure and based on deceptive intelligence reports, Jordan began shelling civilian locations in Israel[8] to which Israel responded on June 6 by opening the eastern front. The following day, June 7, 1967 (28 Iyar 5727), Israel captured the Old City of Jerusalem.
Later that day, Defense Minister Moshe Dayan declared what is often quoted during Yom Yerushalayim:[9][10]
This morning, the Israel Defense Forces liberated Jerusalem. We have united Jerusalem, the divided capital of Israel. We have returned to the holiest of our holy places, never to part from it again. To our Arab neighbors we extend, also at this hour—and with added emphasis at this hour—our hand in peace. And to our Christian and Muslim fellow citizens, we solemnly promise full religious freedom and rights. We did not come to Jerusalem for the sake of other peoples' holy places, and not to interfere with the adherents of other faiths, but in order to safeguard its entirety, and to live there together with others, in unity.[11]
The war ended with a ceasefire on June 11, 1967.
On May 12, 1968, the government proclaimed a new holiday—Jerusalem Day—to be celebrated on the 28th of Iyar, the Hebrew date on which the divided city of Jerusalem became one. On March 23, 1998, the Knesset passed the Jerusalem Day Law, making the day a national holiday.

Israel - Jewish Yeshiva evict Palestinians

Israeli police and Jewish settlers on Monday (25/5) forced two Palestinian families out of their homes in an East Jerusalem neighbourhood where several ultra-Orthodox Jews were recently stabbed to death. The extreme rightwingers' Yeshiva, or seminary, bought the buildings several years ago. Israeli authorities had prevented their occupation by seminary students because of fear that the students' presence in the Arab neighbourhood would incite violence. Following the recent stabbings, the students decided to take over the houses. Israeli border police served eviction notices on the two Palestinian families, who argued that they still owned the properties. Gingrich is leading a congressional mission to Israel to mark the Jewish state's 50th year.

A new millennium sunrise over the city of Jerusalem, but it brought little change to daily lives of many of the inhabitants here As dawn broke worshippers made their usual morning prayer vigil within the walls of the Old City. The early morning rays of sunlight backlit the Dome of the Rock, and Al Aqsa mosque. Jerusalem is holy to all three major religions of the book: Christianity, Islam and Judaism, but control of the city has been the catalyst to wars ancient and modern.

A newly published Israeli government report has acknowledged what Palestinians and human rights groups have said for years - that Israel systematically used illegal force against Palestinian suspects during the intifada. The State Comptroller's report was written in 1997 but withheld by the government until now. The newly released report covers the years 1988 to 1992, when the intifada, or Palestinian uprising against Israel, was at its height. Unprecedented numbers of Palestinians were being arrested and interrogated. Gaza's former interrogation centre - now used as the Palestinian Police Headquarters.

Frustration over stalled negotiations exploded into violence as thousands of Palestinian protesters clashed with Israeli troops in demonstrations that left at least 23 people injured. In Nablus, a large crowd of protesters watched as an effigy of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak was burnt. Demonstrators erected burning barricades on roadways and threw rocks at Israeli troops, who replied by firing tear gas and rubber-coated steel pellets. In Ramallah masked men from outlawed Palestinian guerrilla groups roamed the streets, firing machine guns into the air. Later youths were involved in clashes with the Israeli security services. Soldiers in armoured vehicles threw tear gas grenades and fired rubber-coated steel pellets. At least 10 Palestinians and one Israeli soldier were injured during the demonstrations.

Rival pro and anti-Israel protests in Berlin
(1 Jun 2019) Hundreds of people including prominent German politicians and members of the Jewish community were protesting against a larger, anti-Israel rally in Berlin on Saturday.
Police in the German capital of Berlin kept the competing protests apart.
The annual al-Quds - Arabic for Jerusalem - march against Israel drew more than 1,000 participants, with some chanting Freedom for Palestine.
Others waved Iranian flags.
The German news agency dpa reported that the government's anti-Semitism commissioner, Felix Klein; the Israeli ambassador in Germany, Jeremy Issacharoff; and Berlin's top security official, Andreas Geisel, attended the pro-Israel rally.
Geisel urged the German government to consider banning the political wing of the militant group Hezbollah.
Some at the counter-protest waved Israeli flags and banners with slogans such as It's time to turn Hamas into hummus.
