The US Coast Guard rescued two men and their two dogs from a fishing vessel 80 miles west of Great Inagua, Bahamas, Wednesday.
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Florida, arrived on scene and hoisted the men and their dogs and transported them back to U.S. Soil.
The Coast Guard command center received a report that a 55-foot fishing vessel, Island Cruiser, was taking on water with two men aboard and required assistance. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew responded to the report. After the vessel in distress lost all the electronics and steering on board, the aircrew hoisted the two people and their two dogs.
There were no reports of any injuries.

Tour Clearwater Beach, Florida
Sunday October 27, 2019
Starting at Sand Key Bridge driving north.
Clearwater Beach includes a resort area and a residential area on the Gulf of Mexico in Pinellas County on the west central coast of Florida. Located just west over the Intracoastal Waterway by way of the Clearwater Memorial Causeway from the city of Clearwater, Florida, of which it is part, Clearwater Beach is at a geographic latitude of 27.57 N and longitude 82.48 W.
Clearwater Beach is characterized by white sand beaches stretching for 2.5 miles (4 km) along the Gulf and sits on a barrier island. It has a full marina on the Intracoastal Waterway side and is linked on the south by a short bridge to another barrier island called Sand Key, where Sand Key Park is located.
The area offers shopping, restaurants, and activities such as parasailing, jet ski rentals, boat tours (with a common sighting of dolphins in the Gulf waters), miniature golf, fishing charters, and pirate ship cruises.
Clearwater has frequently been ranked one of the best beaches in the United States. Its Sandpearl resort was named one of the best beach resorts in the U.S. In January 2013, Clearwater Beach was awarded the designation of Florida's Best Beach Town by a USA Today reader poll ranking 10 Florida beach destinations. In February 2019, Clearwater Beach was named the best beach in the United States and sixth-best in the world by TripAdvisor.
Clearwater Beach is officially classified as having a humid subtropical climate. Clearwater Beach experiences warm and humid summers with frequent thunderstorms and drier winters. The area experiences a significant summer wet season, as nearly two-thirds of the annual precipitation falls in the months of June through September. The area is listed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as being in hardiness zone 10, which is about the northern limit of where coconut palms and royal palms can be grown. Highs usually range between 65 and 95 °F (18 and 35 °C) year round.

Captain Brian C. Profile - iTrekkers
My name is Capt Brian and I am a Fishing Guide in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. I provide guide services for West Central Florida including Tampa Bay and surrounding waters. It is my pleasure to work hard to put all of my clients in the right place for our targeted fish. I am very personable, patient, and easy going. I understand that the charter fishing experience on my boat is about the customer. I hope the following insight about me will help you learn more about my love for fishing. Fishing for me began as a small child in the state of Kentucky. My earliest memories are of my father and I fishing streams, ponds, rivers and lakes for various species of small game fish such as Bluegill, Redeye (Rock bass), Crappie, Smallmouth and Largemouth bass, or anything else that would bite. Somehow though, Dad always seemed to catch more fish. Upon moving to the Tampa Bay, Florida area in the late 80's, my father, still living in Kentucky, would often encourage me to put my knowledge of fishing freshwater to use in the numerous lakes Florida has to offer.
For some reason, I just couldn't keep my mind off of the big fish swimming in the Gulf of Mexico and the backwater flats behind the barrier islands. So, with a few questions at the local bait shop, and the company of a couple local friends, I began to explore the inshore waters of West Central Florida. As time passed, and my success in locating fish grew, I began entering some local tournaments. Without a boat, and with limited ways of keeping bait alive, I would trudge for hundreds of yards to the fishing holes. To my surprise, my fishing partner and I won a few of those tournaments. So, now armed with the know how to catch these inshore species, I bought a boat and began fishing tournaments around Tampa Bay and all over the state. Some of those included two years on the Mercury/Ranger Professional Redfish Tour, CCA's Red/Snook Series in Punta Gorda, Florida, as well as the many local events from Clearwater to Tarpon Springs.
After a few years, some more successful than others, I decided to take the necessary steps required to receive a United States Coast Guard license to be a Charter Fishing Guide. Now, 15 years later, I still get a thrill from putting my customers where the fish are. It is a great joy to see the faces of children and adults alike experiencing what the Florida West Coast has to offer.

Catamaran found by Florence Hurricane Hunter Air Force Plane, Sailing Across the Atlantic
Hurricane Hunter aircraft flying through the eye of category 4 hurricane Florence, found the 41-foot sailing catamaran crossing the North Atlantic dodging three named cyclonic storms. The 2019 Bali 4.1 luxury catamaran named Vaughanderlust with a crew of a French captain and American mate were bound for the Dream Yacht Charter boat base in Marsh Harbor, Abacos, Bahamas after departing Portugal on August 18, 2018.
Slow Boat Sailing corresponded with Sean Connett who identified himself to Slow Boat Sailing as working for the Coast Guard’s Miami Rescue Coordination Center and PA1 Michael De Nyse responding on the U.S. Coast Guard Southeast. We also spoke to the Dream Yacht Charter's base to confirm the safe arrival of the catamaran crew at 9 AM on September 14, 2018, in Marsh Harbor, Abacos, Bahamas.
A press release from the U.S. Air Force said:
“Hurricane Hunters locate lost vessel, assist U.S. Coast Guard
The Air Force Reserve’s 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron assisted the U.S. Coast Guard with locating a 41-foot Bali sailing catamaran during a search and rescue mission Sept. 11, 2018. They assisted with the SAR mission after completing their mission for Hurricane Florence. (U.S. Air Force photo/Master Sgt. Jessica Kendziorek)”
Sailing La Vagabonde recently said in Why we Chose to Sail during Hurricane Season! (Hurricane Gordon & Florence) that they planned to sail through hurricane season because they could outrun weather in a catamaran.

Pier 60, named for State Road 60 which terminates in Clearwater Beach, is a central spot for beachgoers and has a playground, a snack bar with attached souvenir shop, and a long fishing pier. It's the site of a daily event called Sunsets at Pier 60, which includes street performers and musical acts. On the pier itself is a nightly display of goods sold by local artisans such as jewelry, candles, and other gift items.
The Clearwater Jolley Trolley has provided transportation up and down the beach since 1982. It currently runs to North Clearwater Beach and down to Sand Key, including Island Estates. Mandalay Avenue is the main drag on the north end of the beach with Gulfview Boulevard being so on the south. Both areas feature a variety of businesses.
Clearwater has frequently been ranked one of the best beaches in the U.S. Its Sandpearl resort was named one of the best beach resorts in the U.S. In 2009 an episode of Brooke Knows Best was shot on the beach

Well, I Hooked a Tree ???? Kayak Fishing ???? 2 Day Tampa Bay Excursion w/ Hank & Tom Pretz
What's better than a 2-day kayak fishing excursion with new friends? I can't think of much, but had a great couple of days with Hank & Tom Pretz - fellow YouTube fishermen and Tampa Bay locals.
They introduced me to two new fishing spots in Pinellas County, one off the Courtney Campbell Causeway, and another in Palm Harbor launching from Pop Stansell Park.
Hank and Tom had some solid catches, and I hooked ladyfish and a speckled trout. Plus a bonus catch - TREES! ???? Just what I always wanted...
Hank Pretz shot/edited a vlog for his channel - highly recommend you head over there and watch his kayak fishing videos from all over the state of Florida.
Thanks guys, was terrific meeting you!

Clearwater Beach Florida, Pier 60, Pinellas County, Spring Break (pinellasadventures.com) Best
Clearwater Beach Florida One of the most popular beaches in the Country. Clearwater Beach Florida
Present-day Clearwater was originally the home of the Tocobaga people. Around 1835, the United States Army began construction of Fort Harrison, named after William Henry Harrison, as an outpost during the Seminole Wars. The fort was located on a bluff overlooking Clearwater Harbor, which later became part of an early 20th century residential development called Harbor Oaks. University of South Florida archaeologists excavated the site in 1977 after Alfred C. Wyllie discovered an underground ammunition bunker while digging a swimming pool on his estate.
The area's population grew after the Federal Armed Occupation Act of 1842 offered 160 acres (0.65 km2) to anyone who would bear arms and cultivate the land. Early settlers included the Stevens, Stevenson and McMullen families, who claimed and farmed large tracts of land. Prior to 1906, the area was known as Clear Water Harbor. The name Clear Water is thought to have come from a fresh water spring flowing from near where the City Hall building is located today. There were many other freshwater springs that dotted the bluff, many in the bay or harbor itself.
View north from Sand Key toward Clearwater Beach
Originally part of Hillsborough County, the first road joining Clearwater and Tampa was built in 1849, which dramatically reduced the prior day-long commute between the cities.
During the American Civil War, Union gunboats repeatedly raided the city's supplies, as most of the able-bodied men were away fighting for the Confederate Army. The town began developing in the late nineteenth century, prompted by Peter Demens' completion of the first passenger railroad line into the city in 1888. Clearwater was incorporated in 1891, with James E. Crane becoming the first mayor.[6] The area's popularity as a vacation destination grew after railroad magnate Henry B. Plant built a sprawling Victorian resort hotel named Belleview Biltmore just south of Clearwater in 1897.
Pinellas County Courthouse in Clearwater
By the early 1900s, Clearwater's population had grown to around 400, ballooning to nearly 1,000 in the winter. Clearwater's oldest existing newspaper, the Clearwater Sun, was first published on March 14, 1914.[7] Clearwater was reincorporated, this time as a city, on May 27, 1915, and was designated the county seat for Pinellas County, which broke from Hillsborough County in 1912. In 1915, a bridge was built across Clearwater Harbor, joining the city with Clearwater Beach to the west. Clearwater Beach, although located on a separate barrier island, belongs to the city of Clearwater and fronts the Gulf of Mexico. A new, much higher bridge now arcs over the bay, replacing the former drawbridge; the connecting road is part of Florida State Road 60 and is called Clearwater Memorial Causeway.
During World War II, Clearwater became a major training base for US troops destined for Europe and the Pacific. Virtually every hotel in the area, including the Belleview Biltmore and the Fort Harrison Hotel, was used as a barracks for new recruits. Vehicle traffic was regularly stopped for companies of soldiers marching through downtown, and nighttime blackouts to confuse potential enemy bombers were common practice. The remote and isolated Dan's Island, now the highrise-dominated Sand Key, was used as a target by U.S. Army Air Corps fighter-bombers for strafing and bombing practice.
The average local temperature of this subtropical tourist haven is 73 degrees, with fall and spring being the most comfortable seasons.
The area is characterized by a white sand beach stretching for 2.5 miles along the Gulf and sits on one of the county's barrier islands. It has a full marina on the Intracoastal Waterway side and is linked on the south by a short bridge to another island called Sand Key, where on the near end is found a large public beach park, directly on the Gulf.
Sand Key Park, which closes at dark, has picnic and fishing accommodations, a nature trail, beach concession stands, and very spacious parking lots. By contrast, the main part of Clearwater Beach is so densely developed that it can be difficult to navigate by car. (Both areas have metered parking spaces; the hours of enforcement vary.) These two islands as well as the island containing the Island Estates neighborhood belong to the city of Clearwater, whose downtown core a.k.a. Cleveland Street District lies a couple of miles to the east over the newly-completed Clearwater Memorial Causeway.

Clearwater Kayak Fishing ???? Gotta Catch 'Em All! | MOORE APPROVED
Amazing couple days of kayak fishing off Clearwater Memorial Causeway in Pinellas County. This place was HOT for just about everything from Spanish mackerel, lizard fish, mullet, bluefish, (almost) snook, (almost) a redfish, and jacks. Used artificial lures including a new gold spoon (which I already lost) and treble hooks to keep fish from jumping the line.
Before this trip, I paid a visit to 4th Street Tackle in St. Petersburg - great place to pick up fishing gear and reasonable prices.
Be sure to check the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's (FWC) website for the latest Red Tide status in the Tampa Bay area:

US sturgeon mount comeback from edge of extinction
(10 Jul 2019) AMERICA'S STURGEONS ARE MOUNTING A COMEBACK FROM THE EDGE OF EXTINCTION.
THE MASSIVE BOTTOM-FEEDING BEASTS THAT SWAM WITH THE DINOSAURS ARE AMONG THE WORLD'S MOST-THREATENED FISH.
AMERICA'S NINE STURGEON SPECIES AND SUBSPECIES USED TO BE PLENTIFUL IN U.S. WATERS, BUT THEY WERE NEARLY WIPED OUT BY POLLUTION, DAM CONSTRUCTION AND A CAVIAR RUSH.
SOUNDBITE (English) Andrew Briggs, Fisheries Research Biologist:
So, early on in the 1800s, at least in our area of the country, sturgeon were seen as a nuisance species, so they'd get in commercial fishermen's nets, and they'd tear up their nets. So, they'd just stack them on the shore and let them lay there for waste. Eventually, people found out they're valuable not only for their flesh but also for their eggs, which can be made into caviar. So, once that happened, they really got over-harvested.
NOW, SCIENTISTS HAVE BEEN FINDING STURGEON IN PLACES WHERE THEY WERE THOUGHT TO BE LONG GONE – INCLUDING VIRGINIA'S JAMES RIVER.
SOUNDBITE (English) Martin Balazik, volunteer for Virginia Commonwealth University Rice Rivers Center:
Like I said, 30 years ago, I used to swim in this river, but on certain days you'd see 150 fish float up in a small area – just float up on shore dead. It was chemicals they were pumping into the water. This was a wasteland – it really was when I was a kid. But, I had never seen – of all the dead fish I've ever seen, I never saw a sturgeon.
FACTORS LIKE FISHING BANS, STOCKING PROGRAMS, CLEANER WATER AND DAM REMOVALS HAVE BEEN CREDITED FOR THE RECOVERY.
SOUNDBITE (English) Dr. James Sulikowski, professor of marine science and marine programs at University of New England:
So, we are on the Biddeford campus at the University of New England – right at the mouth of the Saco River, and we're going to be setting a couple of gillnets to try to catch both shortnose and Atlantic sturgeon.
SOUNDBITE (English) Dr. James Sulikowski, professor of marine science and marine programs at University of New England:
So, we'll set the gill nets and we'll let them soak for about 20 minutes, and then we'll slowly pull them in. The sturgeon will be untangled. They'll be transported back to the university where they'll be placed in recovery net pens, and then we'll take them out individually one by one and do all the morphometric measurements and then release them.
U.S. STURGEON POPULATIONS ARE STILL A TINY FRACTION OF WHAT THEY ONCE WERE, AND ENVIRONMENTALISTS WARN MORE CONSERVATION EFFORTS ARE NEEDED.
STURGEON SOMETIMES LIVE LONGER THAN HUMANS, AND THEY SPAWN INFREQUENTLY. EXPERTS SAY IT WILL TAKE DECADES TO MEASURE A POPULATION'S RECOVERY.
STILL, SOME SAY THERE'S REASON TO BE OPTIMISTIC.
SOUNDBITE (English) Andrew Briggs, Fisheries Research Biologist: We're kind of entering an exciting time in lake sturgeon restoration. We got a lot of work that's been going on stocking lake sturgeon, or stocking sturgeon in general. And it takes a long time for these fish to mature and reach spawning age. And some of those stocking efforts we're going to start hopefully seeing some of these fish returning. So, I'm pretty optimistic at where things are heading going into the future with sturgeon.

Sea Ray hit the target at the top boats in class in terms of styling, quality, performance and market appeal. The L650 serves as a sterling representative of the Sea Ray L-Class (L for Luxury), a fresh series of premium yacht designs.
The trend lately in virtually every large boat has been to put the galley up and aft. Sea Ray has gone with a more conventional forward location, but has opened up the galley, putting refrigerator and freezer drawers below the counters. By eliminating any galley bulkheads, Sea Ray has kept the whole inside of the main deck unobstructed and open -- just the way more people like it these days. It also lends the galley as a main part of the social zones in this open layout deck.
The advantages of four staterooms are obvious for people with large families, or want to entertain multiple couples for an extended weekend. The L650 is the only boat in class that has created a standard day head in the boat's lazerette.
Set-Up for Owner/Operator, with both a bow and a stern thruster and the yacht controller joy stick, the L650 is super easy to dock the optional docking station aft with the joy stick makes backing in a slip or sideways to a dock super easy.
The hydraulic swim platform has a 1,200 lb. capacity Not only can this be used for carrying and launching the ship's tender but it can also be used as a private beach wherever the boat happens to be anchored at the time. Both children and adults will love the teak beach features when the platform is partially submerged.
Handling
The L-650 has a superior level of performance and handling. It has a solid feel, but also a marked measure of sprightly responsiveness. It handles sea conditions well too, cutting through waves instead of launching over them .Sea Ray equips the L-650 with a pair of SeaKeeper gyro-stabilizers. With a very stable ride the SeaKeeper keeps it that way in all conditions.

The other day I headed out to Three Rooker Island with some friends and had a blast out there. Three Rooker Island is located off the West-Central Florida coast, Northwest of Tampa Bay, Florida. The water was so nice, very clear and as you can see in this vlog the deeper you go out, the greener and bluer the ocean.
If you're in the Tampa Bay area and you'd like to get out on the water and visit a beautiful beach, then you may want to consider visiting Three Rooker Island. Just go online and search for charters out of Tarpon Springs.
Also, make sure you check my blog, I'll have some photos posted on there soon:
Enjoy and thanks for watching!
