Clearwater Cruises, Lake Tarawera, Rotorua, New Zealand, 2012 - Chicken and Tim
Chicken and Tim were lucky enough to spend a afternoon on Lake Tarawera after walking the Tarawera Falls track, we spent the day with Ian and his amazing boat. He puts on a fantastic BBQ. We cruised up Lake Tarawera, stopped in at hot water beach then parked up on the northern most point and went to some hot springs that you can only access by boat. The water is deliciously warm, the atmosphere serene, quiet and untouched. Nature at its best.
Get picked up by a Clearwater Cruises after walking for the day in the hot sun all the way up the Tarawera Falls, for yet another dip in some nice refreshing and hot water. The natural springs on this journey are abundant, one of which at the end of Lake Tarawera is only accessible by boat.

Lake Rotorua, New Zealand
Lake Rotorua, New Zealand
We visited Rotorua in January when Phillip was in the summer holiday. It was a cloudy day, we walked around Lake Rotorua, and took one hour scenic cruises.
The following information about Lake Rotorua is a copy from Wikipedia,
Lake Rotorua is the second largest lake in the North Island of New Zealand by surface area, and covers 79.8 km2.[1] With a mean depth of only 10 metres it is considerably smaller than nearby Lake Tarawera in terms of volume of water. It is located in the Bay of Plenty region. The city of Rotorua is sited on its southern shore, and the town of Ngongotaha is at the western edge of the lake.
Mokoia Island, close to the centre of the lake, is a rhyolite dome. It is probably New Zealand's best-known lake island, and is closely associated with one of the best-known Māori legends, that of Hinemoa and Tutanekai. Is said that Hinemoa swam across the lake to her lover Tutanekai who lived on Mokoia Island.
Owing to the geothermal activity around the lake (including still active geysers and hot mud pools), the lake has a high sulphur content. This gives the lake's waters an unusual yellowish-green hue.

Whakarewarewa Thermal Village in ROTORUA New Zealand
Whakarewarewa is a geothermal area within Rotorua city in the Taupo Volcanic Zone of New Zealand. This was the site of the Māori fortress of Te Puia, first occupied around 1325, and known as an impenetrable stronghold never taken in battle.
Whakarewarewa has some 500 pools, most of which are alkaline chloride hot springs, and at least 65 geyser vents, each with their own name. Seven geysers are currently active.
