Free Camping at Ocotillo Wells SVRA & Clark Dry Lake (Borrego Springs) (202)
Ocotillo Wells SVRA:
You can camp here for 30 days within any calendar year. It can be noisy at night due to loud music and dirt bikes. On two of our three stays here, the nights were peaceful and the stars were brilliant. The other time, we were woken up by dirt bikes and loud music. We take the chance because the setting is so beautiful, there are flush toilets, and coin op showers. For a more peaceful location, check out Hawk Canyon in Anza Borrego State Park or Clark Dry Lake which is just outside of Borrego Springs.

Clark Dry Lake:
This is a great BLM free camping spot where tons of snowbirds park in the winter time. It is a large area so you don't feel too closed in, and it is close to Borrego Springs. The public library has fast, and free wifi and the new building is beautiful. There are also two grocery stores in town and gas stations. We will definitely be back since it is such a peaceful and convenient spot.

Desert Sands Vintage Trailer Park ~ Borrego Springs

Desert Sands was the first RV Park opened in Borrego Springs. The year was 1960, and all the palm trees were purchased for 10 cents each in small buckets. Needless to say, all of our landscaping is now fully mature and beautiful. Desert Sands Vintage RV Park has been featured as part of the Annual Borrego Garden Tour. We find that many of our transient visitors end up making our park their winter home. The quiet and peaceful surroundings of California’s largest State Park, insure very slow growth. The fact that Borrego still is without a stop light speaks volumes about our community. If you’re looking for a town that has a Starbucks, Walmart and big name stores this is not the place but if you are looking for a place where your life will slowdown and you’ll feel totally relaxed, this is Borrego Springs! At a certain age, one has to decide if they want to haul or drive that large rig another year. Why not find a place you like and park it for the season or for the year or for the future. We have kept our annual rates low enough to interest our visitors in becoming more permanent in our park. For what most parks charge for the season, we can offer space for the year. There is something attractive about knowing you have a steady space that is yours year around. A space you can attractively customize and take pride in. A piece of heaven right here in the Anza Borrego Desert State Park.
The weather in Borrego Springs is some of the best around. For only two months of the year on average, we dip into the high sixties during the day, take a look – Borrego Springs Weather
If you are looking for a quiet, friendly vintage RV Park please give us a try. We have 70 permanent sites. There is a heated pool and Jacuzzi, laundry room, showers and clubhouse inside an old vintage trailer with a slide out with free WiFi. Our park is a short walk from both the Anza Borrego Park Headquarters and into town. Many of our tenants are weekenders from San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles, that have fallen in love with our small friendly town and the beautiful Anza Borrego Desert. We also have a growing group of “resident snowbirds” from the great Northwest and Canada. We are the best value in Borrego Springs! Please come visit us and take a drive through the park and view the many cool vintage trailers. Area activities include tennis across the road, street and mountain biking, off roading, hiking, wine tasting, star gazing, golfing, horseback riding and much more. Our Vintage Park is constantly working on bringing back the 50’s-60’s early travel trailer identity. If you own a vintage trailer and are looking for a peaceful desert location please contact us. Next time you visit Borrego, please stop by and let us show you some of our options. We know you will be glad you did so.

Tourism is key for Borrego Springs. KPBS Reporter Matt Hoffman says the town wants to attract more people but is facing a number of challenges.
Borrego Springs Resort. Borrego Springs, CA
This hotel is a Best Western property. The property has 2 pools a jacuzzi and Spa. It also has a fitness room and golf course. There is a restaurant on the premises called Arches, it has a bar and offers American cuisine. Wifi and parking are free and it offers Direct TV with plenty of channels. I mentioned in the video that food offerings were a distance away, that was incorrect. Borrego Springs has a small main st by Christmas Circle with food, gas and shopping. Enjoy your stay
Anza-Borrego Desert, Borrego Springs, California
The Anza-Borrego Desert is part of the largest State Park in California. It has hundreds of miles of dirt roads to explore and a wide variety of plants and wildlife, and if you stay a little longer you can take a glimpse of the starry night sky.
Do not forget to drink plenty of water and to visit the metal sculptures at Galleta Meadows.
Farmers Market Borrego Springs CA
San Diego has so much to offer on a daily bases! There is unlimited free events every weekend, and one of the things that my wife and I like to do is visit Farmers Markets from around the County. And this particular video was taken in the lovely desert town of Borrego Springs where the closest stop light is 40 miles away. I love San Diego! Get out and go, have some fun and enjoy all that San Diego has to offer.

The Monstrous, Metal Masterpieces at Galleta Meadows in the Anza-Borrego Desert
I spent an afternoon wandering around the unusual Galleta Meadows in the Anza-Borrego Desert checking out some of Ricardo Breceda''s facinating metal sculptures of dinosaurs, dragons, mastadons, birds, and people. Located in and around the desert town of Borrego Springs in northeastern San Diego County, Galleta Meadows is open all the time and is free for everyone.
The late Dennis Avery, of the Avery label company and fortune, owned the lands comprising Galleta Meadows and wanted to turn it into an outdoor art gallery for the public to enjoy. Avery commissioned LA-based sculptor Ricardo Breceda to fill the sandy desert meadows with Breceda's large, metal sculptures. The first amazing creatures appeared in 2008, and the project is ongoing. If you're in the area of Borrego Springs, it's really worth checking out. Nearly all of the sculptures are right off of the paved highway on short, sandy roads that most cars can handle. It's definitely a must-see!
Borrego Springs, CA Is Awesome!
