In front of Fukui Station in Fukui Japan there is an area dedicated to the fossils that have been found. Every now and then the mechanical dinosaurs act out a scene.

This is my first time visiting fukui. You will find this unique creatures growling at the entrance of the fukui station. Why? Because now there is dinosaurs museum in Fukui!

Japanese Dinosaurs Fight in Fukui!
Long before Godzilla rampaged through downtown Tokyo, there were giant dinosaurs tearing up the countryside which was still attached to the Asian continent at that time.
In Fukui City they have animatronic dinosaurs fighting in front of Fukui Station. Three robotic dinosaurs are on display representing sauropods, ornithopods, and tyrannosauroids which lived during the Early Cretaceous Period (146-100 million years ago) and were discovered in Fukui Prefecture.

Dinosaurs attack Japan
Fukui Prefecture on the Sea of Japan side is famous for being the KINGDOM OF DINOSAURS in Japan. They have several dinos named and a world class museum on them but hey -- you can get a pretty darn good dinosaur experience right in front of the JR FUKUI TRAIN STATION!!

DINOSAURS!! Japan may not be known for it but -- FUKUI PREFECTURE certainly is.
Fukui is nicknamed Japan's Dinosaur Kingdom and I got a chance to live stream around the museum during my hitchhiking trip of Japan.

The Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum
The Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum is one of the top 3 dinosaur museums in the world and most overseas tourist miss seeing it. The main reason behind this is because it is a concerted effort to get there, but well worth it.
First you have to get to Osaka (or Kyoto) and and catch the JR Express Toyama {Thunderbird) to Fukui. The Osaka station to use is the JR connection at Uemeda or use Shin-Osaka. You can use your JR Pass for this (or buy a ticket). The journey takes about two and an half hours so pack a lunch.
After arriving at Fukui Station, exit the terminal and it's a short walk toi the Eichzen Railway Station. From there, buy a ticket to Katsuyama. It costs 750 yen for an adult. The trip takes one hour. At Katsuyama Station there is a bus (non-JR) that will take you to the museum for 100 yen, but if it's not there I wouldn't wait for it. Take a taxi instead for 1600 yen. The bus service is not very frequent and you could be waiting up to an hour. There is an attendant at Katsuyama Station that will arrange a taxi for you.
The taxi ride takes about 10 minutes. Entry to the museum costs 700 yen for an adult. You should ask at the museum ticket counter for the bus and train schedule so that you can plan the length of your visit.
It's best to visit the museum on the weekdays as I imagine that it would get very busy on the weekends and the transport services are limited. Also note that the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month, the museum is closed -- don't get caught out here.
Besides the dinosaur fossils, in true Japanese style, there are mechatronic animations of your favourite dinosaurs.
Remember to visit the Dino Lab there and get a stamp. Also I would recomend that you buy the book of the museum for 1600 yen as a momento.
It's bit of an effort to get there but I hope you find the museum as enjoyable as I did.
