This is how we do it down in Puerto Rico
This is how we do it all the time
Down in Vegas, in Miami,
Down in Paris, in Manhattan,
in Havana, down in L.A.
This is how we do it in the boondocks,
In the Cadillac in the backseat
Out here underneath the rising sun (hey)
In the club, in the street, in the dark, in the dawn,
In the future I want something just like this.
Oh I oh I oh I oh I
Although my heart is looking at the truth,
Just picture everybody
Discovering something brand new.
Just picture everybody
Seeing the beauty through the darkest days.
I feel it still.
Is it me? Is it you? (na na na)
I don’t wanna choose.
I want all of the above. (na na na)
I don’t wanna choose.
Is it fake? Is it true? (na na na)
Don’t get comfortable.
You can hate all the hate (na na na)
If you wanted too.
Look:
This is how we do it down in Puerto Rico
This is how we do it all the time
Down in Vegas, in Miami,
Down in Paris, in Manhattan,
in Havana, down in L.A.
This is how we do it in the boondocks,
In the Cadillac in the backseat
Out here underneath the rising sun (hey)
In the club, in the street, in the dark, in the dawn,
In the future I want something just like this.
I don’t really care if you lie (Sit down, Mask off)
Manipulate my decisions,
Look me in the eye (Sit down, Mask off, Sit Down)
I don’t really care if you go crazy (Mask off, Sit Down)
I don’t really care if you
Push me to the edge (Sit down)
Push me to the edge (Be Humble)
Push me to the edge.
Who can relate? Woo!
I knew from the start
the way that things have been
will change will change will change will change.
I said I already told you
It can be hard.
the way that things have been
will change will change will change will change.
Yeah Yeah Yeah.
skrrrrt! Bring me back back back.
Pop it like a pop star, rock like a rock star
Party in Manhattan,
in Havana, down in L.A.
Singing to our favorite song
In the Cadillac in the backseat
Out here underneath the rising sun (hey)
Shining so bright in the dark, in the dawn,
In the future I want something just like this.
Feel the thunder
This is how we do it all the time
Thunder, feel the thunder
I want something just like this
Feel the thunder
Underneath the rising sun (hey)
Thunder, feel the thunder
I want something just like this
Is it me? Is it you? (na na na)
I don’t wanna choose.
C’mon, c’mon, take a look in the mirror (na na na)
Don’t get comfortable.
Say it’s us, say it’s us (na na na)
If you wanted too.
Say it’s us, say it’s us and I’ll agree, baby.
Oooooo
Say it’s us
Oooooo
Just say you won’t let go
Pasito a pasito, suave suavecito
The face of the future, poquito a poquito
Y es que esa belleza es un rompecabezas
Pero pa' montarlo aquÌ tengo la pieza
Pasito a pasito, suave suavecito
You make me a believer, poquito a poquito
The only words I wanna hear is “Sube, Sube, Sube!”
Now they only say congratulations
Oh I oh I oh I oh I
This is how we do it all the time
Down in Vegas, in Miami,
Down in Paris, in Manhattan,
in Havana, down in L.A.
This is how we do it in the boondocks,
In the Cadillac in the backseat
Out here underneath the rising sun (hey)
In the club, in the street, in the dark, in the dawn,
In the future.

Why the US national anthem is terrible — and perfect
Vox's Estelle Caswell and Joss Fong debate The Star Spangled Banner
Subscribe to our channel!
When Francis Scott Key attached his poem about the War of 1812 to a popular British song called To Anacreon in Heaven, he kicked off over 200 years of painfully bad singing by patriotic Americans. The Star Spangled Banner became the official national anthem of the United States in 1931, but it had been used by the Army and Navy for decades before that and was popular from the start. One big problem? The melody wasn't exactly written for the masses, but for trained soloists.
Commentators pointed out early on that it was exceedingly difficult for most people to sing, suggesting that America the Beautiful might be a better alternative. Critics have noted that the music requires a uniquely wide vocal range, it's full of tricky intervals, and the lyrics are confusing and uninspiring.
But if you look at the national anthem as a sport, where we get to watch performers at the top of their game tackle the gauntlet that is the Star Spangled Banner, you may come to appreciate it. In this video, we debate whether the difficulty of the Star Spangled Banner is a feature or a bug for a national anthem.

Why every American graduation plays the same song
We're all familiar with Pomp & Circumstance, the graduation song that's the official soundtrack of almost every commencement. But how did it get so big? In this episode of Vox's Almanac, Phil Edwards investigates and finds diamonds, war, and Dame Clara Butt. Follow Phil Edwards and Vox Almanac on Facebook for more:
Subscribe to our channel!
Pomp & Circumstance has long been a graduation anthem. Part of Edward Elgar's infamous military marches, the tune was composed in the midst of the Boer War, a conflict that expanded the British empire in search of diamonds and gold. When the song was used for Edward VII's coronation, it was lent words that, even today, promote the British empire. That's why the version with lyrics is known as Land of Hope and Glory.
The famous song was used when Elgar received an honorary degree at Yale and, quite simply, people liked how it sounded. It quickly spread and became a graduation anthem in America (and remained an unofficial national anthem in the UK). Today, we hear it everywhere — and it's all thanks to Edward Elgar's unique place in British culture.

- LYRICS -
Giant steps are what you take
Walking on the moon
I hope my legs don't break
Walking on the moon
We could walk forever
Walking on the moon
We could live together
Walking on, walking on the moon
Walking back from your house
Walking on the moon
Walking back from your house
Walking on the moon
Feet they hardly touch the ground
Walking on the moon
My feet don't hardly make no sound
Walking on, walking on the moon
Some may say
I'm wishing my days away
No way
And if it's the price I pay
Some say
Tomorrow's another day
You stay
I may as well play
Giant steps are what you take
Walking on the moon
I hope my legs don't break
Walking on the moon
We could walk forever
Walking on the moon
We could be together
Walking on, walking on the moon
Some may say
I'm wishing my days away
No way
And if it's the price I pay
Some say
Tomorrow's another day
You stay
I may as well play
Keep it up, keep it up
Yo yo yo yo

The Most Sampled Loop in Music History
What do Skrillex, David Bowie, Salt-N-Pepa and basically every drum and bass track have in common? They've all used the Amen break, a four-bar drum solo that has become the most sampled loop in music history. Recorded in 1969, the six second sample originates from the song “Amen, Brother” by The Winstons, a funk and soul group from Washington, D.C. For many years, the solo was buried deep in musical archives—that is until hip-hop pioneer Lou Flores, aka “Breakbeat Lou,” featured it on his compilation, “The Ultimate Breaks and Beats.” Once producers caught wind of the solo, it took off, going on to change music forever.

Why this awful sounding album is a masterpiece
Brace yourselves, this video is about Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band.
Subscribe to our channel!
Trout Mask Replica, by Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band was inducted into the Library of Congress' national recording registry in 2010 - nearly 40 years after it's release. The album has been widely cited by artists of all kinds as a shining point of creativity and original thought - it also is very very hard to listen to. It's the musical equivalent of a Jackson Pollock painting. Its discordant rhythms and motifs sound made up on the spot by a child, but every sound and riff you hear on the album was arduously rehearsed over the course of a year by a group of young musicians who were remarkable in their own right.
Samuel Andreyev and Susan Rogers join me on Episode #6 of Vox Pop's Earworm to breakdown why this album is such a masterpiece.

How the triplet flow took over rap
The “Migos flow” deconstructed.
Subscribe to our channel!
In 2013, Migos made it to the Billboard Charts with Versace. It was a viral hit and it put the spot light on a very unique rap flow - the triplet. The triplet, often now called the Migos flow happens when three syllables are rapped over one beat. It's now so popular that nearly every mainstream rap artists these days has used it, often to great effect. Kendrick rapped in triplets on one of the most dramatic moments of his latest album, Damn. and Chance the Rapper used triplets on the opening track of Coloring Book. This video is about where the triplet flow came from and how it's been a common tool for rappers since Three 6 Mafia and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's debut albums in the '90s.

How the fisheye lens took over music
The fisheye album cover is a modern music staple. This is the story of where it came from.
Become a Video Lab member!
When Harry Styles released the album cover to his sophomore project, Fine Line, fans began dissecting everything about it. But any music lover might recognize something about its cover too. The distorted circular image might remind hip-hop fans of 1990s music videos, or psychedelic rock fans of an iconic Jimi Hendrix album cover. The photograph was taken with a fish-eye lens, a novel piece of gear that has excited amateur and professional photographers alike for over half a century. The story of how that lens was developed in the first place might be just as interesting as all the ways it has been used since its invention.

Rap Songs That Went Viral In 2019 [Most Popular Hits]
Popular Rap Songs That Went Viral In 2019, Best Hip-Hop Songs 2019, Best Rap Beats 2019.
The most popular rap songs are in most cases considered iconic because of their influence in the genre. Which songs are able to remind you of a year? #hiphopuniverse #hiphopspecials
Hip-hop has arguably been the best genre of music in the past two decades. As hip-hop maintains its title, a lot has changed about the genre, such as the lyrics. Hip-hop has two phases, old school and new school each of which give off a different vibe. These phases can be divided into Mumble Rap and Lyrical Rap.
Old School “Hip-Hop” has music based prevalently on African American culture. Artists such as Tupac, Biggie Smalls, and Eazy-E often rap about the struggles of growing up in a urban environment and the work they put in to get where they are today.
In popular songs such as “Changes” by Tupac and “Juicy” by Biggie Smalls, the artists explain how they went from “negative to positive” as Biggie put it.
Old school hip-hop is still popular today and is regarded as “classic” by many hip-hop fans.
“New school” hip-hop has different types of lyrics. Rappers from today’s generation sing typically about girls, money, and cars they have. Some even sing about how they do drgs, drink alchl, and party which sets a bad example for some listeners. Some of these rappers today did not have it as hard as rappers back in the old days.
People who grew up listening to Tupac, Biggie, Eazy-E, and so on typically do not enjoy hip-hop in today’s era. Songs written when rap was introduced were lyrically better because rappers were able to tell a story using words that rhyme and flow.
Some songs are also more appealing to fans because they can relate to the struggles their favorite rappers faced.
People of this generation are used to listening to new school hip-hop which is the most played genre on the radio. These same fans reject old school Hip-Hop as a part of the music genre. There are even rappers who know nothing about the most influential Hip-Hop artists.
Growing up listening to Eminem has caused me to fall in love with him as an artist. He introduced me to Hip-Hop. But I noticed a change in the music industry. Artists wanted to be part of the mainstream industry and they had to change their music to fit into the mainstream category.
Because of new artists in hip-hop, many lessen known artists are rarely noticed. These artists are said to be “underground.” Underground rappers usually do not make it big because they have music related to the messages embodied by old school hip-hop artists would say.

The Seekers - Georgy Girl (1967 - Stereo)
The Seekers' farewell concert now available -
Back in 1967, when The Seekers returned home to Australia for a visit, little did they know that their free concert at the Myer Music Bowl in their home town of Melbourne would break attendance records for the Southern hemisphere and TV ratings records for Australia!
The concert formed part of the TV special 'The Seekers at Home and Down Under'. The group sang live on the day, but because no promo video existed for the original (1966) hit version of the song, it is this which I've used for the audio, extending the video to include the middle 8 bars. The DVD 'The Legendary TV Specials' with the live audio, (along with all The Seekers' hits and much more) is available to buy & recently spent several weeks at #1! Here's the version with live audio for comparison:
