Echizen Railway is located in Fukui Prefecture just north of Kyoto. In the days prior to Echizen Railway, the line experienced 2 accidents which caused operations to cease. However, demand from local residents saw the line re-open as a third sector railway. See how Echizen Railway is working to ensure its future by providing specialized services and support to the local community. Also, see how the Echitetsu Supporter's Club works with the community to support the railway. Then, take a ride on the Dinosaur Express which is attracting visitors from all over Japan.

I have visited this town by a not researched situation CAUSE
I lost my BAG in road to KYOTO, at a SHINKANSEN ain
and so THAT was not my FIRST DESTINATION, BUT
the fact I discover a peaceful place I DECIDE to stay there,
and forget KYOTO! The way I discover that is just
after I have re-found my bag, and it was near to night,
I buy plan maps at station and an umbrella, then
go search for an hotel near station . I found YOURS
hotel, very correct people, even I do not speak very
well english, and arrived there WITHOUT reservation.
I remind after start to fall snow so heavy I due to buy
news shoes because mine was water sponges.. SO
I send my olds shoes to Chile also for do not CHARGE
myself, because I travel ALONE and with no a lot
of money. For me the water sponges olds shoes I
knew I could re-found that after returning to Chile.
IT IS THE ONLY TIME I DO THAT, sending that
with a lot of newspapers from JAPAN. Is a way
of travelling ALONE, sending the papers to where
I live now and not charging. THEY HAVE at POST
also the only MONEY machine I COULD read in
ENGLISH, when YOU do not speak japanesse
and go there is better to know. The two place
where to extract catch was JAPAN POST and
LOBBY YOURS HOTEL I think is a CITI group
machine that is working in JAPAN, not ATM.
In New York all is ATM, CHASE, or CITY.

A morning drive in Fukui, Japan
Here's a nice part of my morning drive from 鯖江市 (Sabae-shi) to 織田町 (Ota-cho) in 福井県 (Fukui-ken). I teach at a couple of elementary schools out there, and absolutely love the drive to and from.
Filmed in November, 2011.
Sorry about the unsteady camera, it was filmed from my iPhone while holding the steering wheel at the same time. I am not a pro.

えちぜん鉄道田原町駅付近を走行する福井行きのMC6001形。
右側の福井鉄道の留置線には880形が留置中。
駅周辺では駅舎の改築と、福井鉄道との相互直通のための工事が行われていて、近いうちにこの付近で2社の線路が接続する予定。
