Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
Tour of Petra and Wadi Rum from Israel (full trip)
Filmed by
A full tour of Petra from Israel. First crossing Aqaba-Eilat border and driving to Petra. Then touring one of the wonders of the Middle East - Petra, on foot, camel and horses. A visit of Wadi Rum valley was on the way back. Wadi Rum is so surreal that it was used for filming many movies, including about Mars (The Martian, Red Planet...).
Eco Tours in Israel: Camels in Israel
Eco Tours in Israel: Camels in Israel - The camel is a fascinating animal, very laid back and in tune with the desert around it. It's a very large animal, which is not the best thing to be if you live in the desert with the hot sun shining - the side of the camel has a large surface area, but from the front it's very narrow, so when the sun is shining the camels actually like to face the sun in order to keep cooler.
Eco Tours in Israel: Sea of Galilee
Eco Tours in Israel: The Sea of Galilee, or Lake Kineret, is Israel main water reservoir. It's also the lowest fresh water lake in the world, at minus 250 meters below sea level. It is also where Jesus walked on water and performed many other miracles. The Sea of Galilee collects water from all around, and the main source is the northern part of the River Jordan. The Sea of Galilee is Israel's main source of drinking water and is also used for recreation - boating, water skiing and swimming. Every night cheap electricity is used to drain water into the national water carrier. This incredible system was developed in the 1950's, and water is pumped up to 150 meters above sea level, and from there it flows to the rest of the country. The water level is now (as of March 2013) just over 210 meters below sea level.
Eco Israel
Eco-Israel offers Jewish young adults the opportunity to embrace permaculture and sustainable living through intensive hands-on experience and coursework on an organic farm. Upon completion of the program you will receive an internationally recognized certificate in permaculture design. Based at the Hava & Adam Eco-Educational farm in Modi'in (located halfway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv) Eco-Israel allows you to explore how Ecology Judaism and Israel blend together in a working model of a self-sustaining ecological community. The Hava & Adam Eco-Educational Farm is completely dependent upon the energy creative resources and time of her residents. All members of the farm including a group of young Israelis on a year of service share responsibility in running the site and making it their home. As a large family you will cook with your fellow residents eat together and work alongside them.

Israel tour guide Noam __ Jerusalem mountains
Millions of tourists seem to visit Jerusalem every year.
Most tourists spend one or two days in Jerusalem, following their 6 or 7 days itinerary to Israel.
Vast majority of the tourist population does not even consider the possibility of taking some time out for hiking through the Jerusalem mountain national parks and forests.
So, my recommendation to you, nature lovers, is to make some time and get it done, easily.
Let's assume you're In Jerusalem hotel and got half a day off.
The only gear I would recommend is hiking or sports shoes, heat and at least 3 liters of water during summertime.
I would also get hiking trail map of the desired part.
In order to get there, I would take either taxi or bus to one of the hiking hubs within the mountains at western area and go for a relaxing walk.
In the following short video, you can review the landscape and get an idea about this kind of activity.
Hope you'll enjoy it!

Tu B'Shvat - In Machane Yehuda - Jerusalem Israel
While looking for an apartment in Nachlaot, we stopped by the Machane Yehuda market in Jerusalem. All the vendors were ready of Tu B'Shvat, the new year for trees in Israel. The stalls were bursting with fresh fruits and dried fruit of all types: from juicy pomegranates to dried figs, and even dried kiwi.
While the Jewish people were in exile, the land of Israel lay barren, now that we have come back, the Land is bringing forth her fruits to her People. The Talmud in Sanhedrin 98a says there is no surer sign of the coming redemption than this!

Desert tourism in Israel
Tourists discover Israel's Negev desert
History and scenery come together for visitors to Israel's Negev Desert.
Israel's Negev Desert accounts for more than 55 percent of Israel's land, but only about 8% of its population. Here, among spectacular desert vistas, you can find an increasing number of unique tourist accommodations.
Along the ancient Spice Route, for example, a unique desert B&B offers visitors individual cabins with small private pools and wine made on site. Its name, Carmey Avdat (Vineyards of Avdat) Farm ( draws on Avdat, an important ancient Nabatean city. Several grape-pressing areas, a farm and churches were uncovered by archeologists at this site.
Isrotel Beresheet (Genesis) ( a new luxury hotel opening this spring, is located on a cliff above Machtesh (Crater) Ramon, a landform unique to the Negev and Sinai deserts. The largest natural crater in the world at 40 kilometers (24.8 miles) long and 10 kilometers (a bit more than six miles) wide, the Ramon formed when soft rocks buried under hard surface rocks eroded, causing the hard upper layers to collapse in the shape of a heart.

Regenerate Episode 2 - Hava and Adam Eco-Israel Eco Village
On our continued quest for inspiration by seeing ecological sustainability in action, we visited the Hava and Adam Ecological Farm in Israel where they practice permaculture. Despite being in a very hot climate with very little rain, they managed to build a rain collection and water recycling system that allows them to grow an abundance of fruits and vegetables. They use compost toilets to conserve water. Their structures are made from cob, which maintain very cool in the 110 degree Fahrenheit weather in the summer and do not require air conditioning for comfort. They have a photovoltaic tracking system, which follows the sun to generate the most out of their solar panels. They study and teach about the basics of building with earth, growing food, harvesting, filtering, and conserving water, plus they also have a composting center where they use various methods of composting to see which works best. They have a recycling center where all the plastic waste is re-used and made into other items, art pieces, or even as filling for the clay structures. There is even a center for harvesting, drying, and processing medicinal herbs and well as making soaps, lotions, and tonics that are natural and not harmful to their ecosystem as all of their water is reclaimed. The Hava and Adam Eco-Israel program is truly a model of sustainable practice which teaches young people, between the age of 18 to 30, how to connect both to the land and each other to create a thriving oasis in an arid climate.

Description
Eco-tourism in the Galilee
Tourists from both Israel and abroad can travel the country and enjoy activities that have minimal impact on the environment and build environmental awareness.
Environmental tourism options in Israel are growing apace, especially in the verdant Galilee region. If you want a healthy holiday, check in to the Mizpe-Hayamim Hotel, Spa and Organic Farm.
Dating from the 1960s, the complex was the vision of Dr. Eric Yaros -- a physician and homeopath who emigrated from Berlin.
The vegetarian restaurant gets a personal recommendation and while you're there, be sure to walk up the hill to the 28-acre farm that supplies every single one of the restaurant's seasonal vegetables, fruits and dairy products.
The valley below the hotel is home to the bird-watching paradise of the Hula Valley and Lake Agmon. More than 500 million birds -- 400 species -- stop over in the valley, as they migrate between Europe and Africa in the spring and fall. Visitors can rent electric golf carts or bicycles, and set out alone or with a resident ornithologist for a tour of the restored wetlands
For a more intimate green getaway, try Hemdatiya in Moshav Sejera--Ilaniya. It's a small B&B with five rooms, in carefully-restored stone farm buildings dating from the early 20th century. Vineyards, goats and seasonal organic vegetable gardens, provide salads, wine and cheese for guests.
Another attractive and practical eco-feature for drought-plagued Israel -- all the water from the rooms is channeled down to the wetlands, to irrigate the orchards.
Atalya Trua, one of the owners of Hemdatiya, is passionate about the importance of the eco-holiday site: The ecologic life is the only way to live today... for the environment, and for the next people, the next generation.
Eco Tours in Israel: Jordan River Birds
Eco Tours in Israel: The River Jordan in the Jordan valley boasts the most amazing selection of migrating birds. Over 5 million birds fly through Israel every year and pass through the Jordan valley because of the water and the fish. Among the migrating birds are cormorants, stalks, gulls, moorhens and birds of prey such as black kites and marsh harriers.
Israeli Technologies - A true farming miracle in desert
Every day, our world is facing greater environmental and resources challenges. New Israeli technologies are helping our world to overcome these issues. From water to energy through eco-friendly agriculture, Israel is leading the way to a better and more sustainable world.

My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.
