GREECE: EXPLORING the magnificent ANCIENT THEATRE of EPIDAURUS ????️ (Epidavros), GREECE
SUBSCRIBE: - Join me for a fascinating tour of the magnificent ancient Greek theater with the world's most advanced acoustics and architecture.
The Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus is a theatre in the Greek city of Epidaurus, located on the southeast end of the sanctuary dedicated to the ancient Greek God of medicine, Asclepius. It is built on the west side of Cynortion Mountain, near modern Lygourio, and belongs to the Epidaurus Municipality.
Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Influential in ancient times, it's often called the cradle of Western civilization. Athens, its capital, retains landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. Greece is also known for its beaches, from the black sands of Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos.

Sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidaurus - UNESCO World Heritage Site
The Sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidaurus is a fascinating and unusual UNESCO World Heritage Site in Greece. It's an ancient sanctuary - a health retreat, dating back 2500 years. Ancient Greeks would come here to be treated and recover from illness, and in some ways it's the birthplace of modern medicine as well. Let's have a closer look!

Epidaurus, Greece
Epidaurus (Epidauros) theatre, Greece 2000, Peloponnese
Epidaurus (/ɛpɪˈdɔːrəs/; Ancient Greek Ἐπίδαυρος Ελλάδα, Epidauros) was a small city (polis) in ancient Greece, on the Argolid Peninsula at the Saronic Gulf. Two modern towns bear the name Epidavros (Modern Greek Επίδαυρος): Palaia Epidavros and Nea Epidavros. Since 2010 they belong to the new municipality of Epidaurus, part of the regional unit of Argolis. The seat of the municipality is the town Lygourio.
The prosperity brought by the asclepeion enabled Epidaurus to construct civic monuments, including the huge theatre that delighted Pausanias for its symmetry and beauty, used again today for dramatic performances, the ceremonial hestiatoreion (banqueting hall), and a palaestra. The theater was designed by Polykleitos the Younger in the 4th century BC.
