Camping & Boating Castle Archdale 2017
We decided we would take a trip for a friend birthday to do something different and that we did.
We found this place on lough Erne that hire boats to captain yourself the day leaving you with nothing but fuel in the tank and map! we then decided to make a weekend of it and camp also in Castle Archdale caravan park.
we arrived a set up on the Saturday morning making light work of setting up camp as we were itching to get out on the boat. Arrived at the boat hire and was greeted by a fella named Houston who took us through the safety procedures before we set off and then off we went out onto the open water on our own.
we stopped of a a place called Lusty Beg island we got some food and a couple drinks, (this place is dog friendly by the way) and some water for the dogs. we were very well looked after and the views over the lough here were spectacular!
Next Stop was the Village of Kesh. The trip alone to Kesh was amazing as you have to travel up kesh river and as you can see in the video it was very peaceful. Another pub another drink before starting are return journey back to Castle Archdale.
That night we finished with a BBQ and campfire.
Very memorable weekend.
Hope you enjoyed the video.

Lough Erne County Fermanagh; NI Second Biggest Lake System-Irish Fishing - Enniskillen Fermanagh
These views of Lough Erne, county Fermanagh! Yes, they took our breath away as well, just the same way they did with you right now! A place in the town of Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, that you should add right now on your list of places to visit in Ireland.
Lough Erne is the name given to the two connecting lakes in county Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. Lough Erne is considered the second biggest lake in Northern Ireland and Ulster and it is considered the fourth biggest in Ireland as a whole - which pushed us to reach this place, get introduced to its beauty, and see how magnificent it is.
The smaller southern lake is known as the Upper Lough as it is higher up the river, while the bigger northern lake is called the Lower Lough or Broad Lough. Lough Erne is found on the town of Enniskillen which is placed on the short stretch of river between the two lakes.
For us, this is considered the perfect place for nature due to the idea behind Lough Erne being the place where the two lakes meet, and also for being a place where different islands along with many coves and inlets are found; just as you can see through the video, it is a perfect description for nature.
Enniskillen town, where the Lough Erne is located, is a civil parish in county Fermanagh and it is located exactly in the center of the county where the upper and lower parts of Lough Erne lake are found. Everything has a story behind and the name of this town is believed to carry a story for it as well; it is believed that the name originally came from Cethlenn who was wounded in battle by an arrow and attempted to swim across the River Erne but never made it, and thus the place was named after her, since it comes from the Irish name Inis Ceithleann.
Visiting this place, Lough Erne, will give you the chance to see some of the other landmarks which are found in the town of Enniskillen, such as the Enniskillen Castle which is considered the oldest building in the place. It is not just about the castle, but Enniskillen is the place where the British Army regiments were found. This is considered a place with rich history and there are lots of hidden stories and gems that this name still carries.
To complete your trip in Enniskillen, there are some other suggestions which we will provide you with to visit as much historical and natural places as possible. In addition to the castle, you could also visit the Inniskillings Museum, the Castle Coole, the Monea Castle, the Coles Monument, the Portora Castle, the Tully Castle, the Florence Court, as well as other things simpler than those which you could also come across.
If you are staying at Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland, during your visit but you are heading to Lough Erne in Enniskillen town to check this magical place in county Fermanagh, you could actually make a day trip there because it does not take so long; there are different routes and the longest of them will get you there in about two hours and twenty minutes in total, which is considered reasonable for a day trip and enjoying a couple of things to see in Enniskillen.
For those who are not willing to consider this a day trip, they could then search for the resorts or hotels which they could book at in order to enjoy their stay. One of the places which we suggest is the Lough Erne resort, which is sometimes referred to as Enniskillen Hotel, where there are different outdoor activities that one could get the chance to be part of in order to enjoy the fresh air of this place, such as going to the Lough Navar Forest, visiting the Crom Estate, going to Castle Archdale, or else visiting the Cuilcagh Mountain - these come in addition to the ones we have already mentioned above.
Connolly Cove is the place where we bring different recommendations and suggestions for those who enjoy visiting several places in the countries they are going to visit; not just the famous landmarks, but those beautiful ones which might not be gaining the same amount of tourists and visitors. This channel is mainly focused on Ireland and Northern Ireland, but we have been working hard to expand and reach different other countries around the world.
There are lots of things to be seen and visited in Northern Ireland ( there are also a lot of attractions that one could visit in Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland ( you could enjoy the hop-on hop-off tour if you are visiting Dublin, Ireland ( and you could also enjoy seeing the location for filming The Game of Thrones which also happens to be in Ireland (
Tell us more about your journey to the Lough Erne, County Fermanagh, the town of Enniskillen, and share with us the places you have visited, the activities you have done there, and the amount of days you stayed there; tell us more about your trip to see this place in Ireland.

Boat License? Do you need a boat license in Ireland? #37
People always ask us if you need a boat license in Ireland? And they also ask us about the law in Ireland about wearing life jackets. In Ireland there are a few common sense rules about the wearing of life jackets especially with children but the boat license thing never caught on here. Check the video for the full details.
We also have rules on holding tanks on boats. Basically it's illegal to dump any effluent into the rivers or lakes. Which I think is fine too. Thankfully though you can either bring your boat here or rent one with very few restrictions at all.
You will need to register your boat with Waterways Ireland but there is no charge for that. Nor is there a charge for mooring your boat in a public harbour but you are limited to a maximum of a five day stay.
Check out our new shop at driftwood.tv/shop where you get your hands on our book 'Driftwood from the Shannon to the Marne' the humorous account of our first ever venture into the sea, and on to the French inland waterways.

Manor House Hotel Enniskillen Co Fermanagh
Tanya and I are down in scenic Co Fermanagh for a few days and we are staying in the very grand, yet very welcoming, Manor House Hotel on the shores of Lough Erne, located just outside Enniskillen. I think that the outside of the hotel is worth a video. We will definitely be back! The hotel was used as an officer's mess during the 2nd WW by the american forces based in the area. these guys were involved in much of the seaplane/Catolina oversight which was patrolling the atlantic. They were searching for German submarines atttacking the convoys. They also located the Bismark battleship which led to her being sunk.
