UK trade may struggle to stand still after EU exit
As British Prime Minister David Cameron struggles to accommodate euro-skeptics in his own party, trade experts warn that quitting the European Union would force Britain not just to rework trade relations with the EU, but also with the EU's trade partners and probably the World Trade Organization.

EU Judges Demand Control Over UK Post Brexit. As we get closer to Brexit day, the EU keep coming up with new demands. This time they want the European court of justice to have oversight when it comes to post Brexit relationship between the UK and the EU. The ECJ is not an independent body as it’s tied to the EU machine. In other news, David Sassoli, the president of the European Parliament has softened his approach while the British MEPs say goodbye to Brussels. Boris Johnson and his government now need to consider their negotiations strategy for the 11 months with options on the table such as imposing tariffs on EU products, a similar approach taken by President Trump.
UKIP leader 'impressed' by May speech
(17 Jan 2017) UKIP leader Paul Nuttall praised UK Prime Minister Theresa May for her speech outlining Britain's exit strategy from the European Union on Tuesday.
However, Nuttall criticised May for her transitional arrangements and stresses that his party wants a quick Brexit.
More than six months after Britain voted to leave the European Union, May finally spelled out what it means: The U.K. will make a clean break from the EU and leave its single market of around 500 million people.
In her most detailed remarks since the June 23 vote, May said Tuesday that Britain must regain control of its laws and borders, even as she called on the bloc to negotiate a free-trade agreement that will benefit both sides.

Greg and Felicity Adventures :- The Isle of Man - Railways, Castles & Seals
On this travel adventure set on the Isle of Man, Greg made it his mission to prove to Felicity that it’s possible to have an adventure without the need to spend many hours on the plane to get there.
The Isle of Man is home to picturesque countryside, fascinating history and some gorgeous wildlife.
Greg got to share his love of history, exploring both Peel and Rushen Castle as well as riding not just on his beloved steam trains but also on the only electric mountain railway tram on the British Isles. While Greg obsessed over his historic railways, Felicity found something more to her taste at The Sound, where wild seals live on the rocks beneath and around The Calf of Man Island.
Only once did they feel the need to escape - from an escape room at Exit Strategy!
Overall the Isle of Man made for a fun filled adventure which we hope you enjoy.

USA: WASHINGTON: BRITISH FOREIGN SECRETARY MALCOLM RIFKIND VISIT
English/Nat
The British Foreign Secretary Malcolm Rifkind is in the United States - meeting with members of the Clinton Administration and members of Congress.
Rifkind began his day commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Marshall Plan - U-S aid to rebuild Europe after World War Two.
He then met with Defence Secretary William Cohen to discuss Nato's withdrawal from Bosnia by 1998.
Kicking off a day filled with meetings and speeches - Malcolm Rifkind met early Monday morning with members of the Marshall International Centre to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Marshall plan.
The Marshall Plan - drawn up by General George Marshall - was implemented after World War Two - to try and reconstruct the European economy with US aid.
Rifkind says the US and Britain are jointly commemorating the contribution that George Marshall made to the well-being of Europe.
SOUNDBITE:
The speech then led to policy initiatives that did a remarkable amount to transform Europe in these crucial years, after the end of the war, and have made a major contribution towards the stability of Europe, and therefore the world as a whole in the period since then.
SUPER CAPTION: Malcolm Rifkind, British Foreign Secretary
The Foreign Secretary presented a cheque for 100-thousand dollars from the British government to the George C. Marshall International Centre.
The money will go towards the restoration of Dodona Manor - the Marshall family home in Virginia.
At the ceremony, Rifkind was asked for his views on last Friday's decision by the United States to veto a resolution by the UN Security Council towards Israel.
The resolution condemned Israel's settlement plans - particularly the planned Jewish neighbourhood in East Jerusalem.
Rifkind admitted the British Government was disappointed by the US veto.
But he says each country has to fulfil its own agenda.
SOUNDBITE:
Each country has to come to its own judgement as to how it can best contribute towards the peace process. The US has a particular relationship with Israel, we recognize that fact. I think its going to be very important for the US to do what it can to help influence Israeli policy on the settlement issue, and we hope that that is what will happen.
SUPER CAPTION: Malcolm Rifkind, British Foreign Secretary.
Later Monday - Malcolm Rifkind made a visit to the Pentagon, to meet US Defence Secretary William Cohen.
Prior to the meeting - Cohen and Rifkind said the issue topping their agenda would be NATO's withdrawal from Bosnia by June 1998.
Rifkind is urging NATO allies to adopt an exit strategy - beginning with the military presence in Bosnia being transferred to a police function.
SOUNDBITE:
I see a long term need for economic help to Bosnia, I see a long term need for other forms of cooperation and support. But I believe that Britain, the US and other countries would like to see an early departure of international military presence because that is something that no country should have to live with longer than the minimum period required.
SUPER CAPTION: Malcolm Rifkind, British Foreign Secretary
William Cohen says the U-S and Britain have agreement on this issue - the United States will not keep troops in Bosnia after NATO leaves
SOUNDBITE:
We are in Bosnia together as NATO. We will leave together and there has been no contemplation of any force beyond that time.
SUPER CAPTION: William Cohen, US Secretary of Defence
Cohen and Rifkind also discussed the planned expansion of NATO.
Rifkind says Russia should not be threatened by a NATO expansion because it would give Russia for the first time in 200 years security to the west.
He returns to London Tuesday.

BREXIT: Threat of no-deal damaging life sciences, says UK biotech leader
As the contest to become the next Conservative leader and prime minister enters a decisive phase, the UK biotech sector has warned that continued threats of a no-deal exit are damaging the life sciences sector.
Steve Bates, the chief executive of the UK BioIndustry Association (BIA) giving evidence to a Parliamentary committee, and repeating warnings about the short and long-term impacts of a no-deal Brexit, either on 31 October or at a later date.
Bates appeared before the cross-party Exiting the EU Committee alongside representatives from the Healthcare Distribution Association (HDA), which represents wholesalers, and the Chemicals Industry Association.
All three said their sectors would suffer from a no-deal Brexit, reiterating warnings made over the last three years.
Bates said he spent all his time promoting the UK life sciences sector, but was frank when asked by the committee if politicians ‘talking up’ a no-deal Brexit was damaging.

Britain will begin process of leaving EU by end of March: PM May
British Prime Minister Theresa May revealed a little more of her strategy for taking Britain out of the European Union.
The government will trigger Article 50 of the EU Constitution before the end of March.
Kim Mok-yeon shares with us May's first party conference speech as leader.
British Prime Minister Theresa May announced on Sunday that she will trigger the process to leave the European Union without unnecessary delays.
In a speech at the start of the Conservative Party's annual convention in Birmingham, May said Britain will invoke Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty by March 30th 2017.
After that,... Britain will have two years to finalize one of the most complex political deals in modern European history.
If everything goes well, the UK will exit the EU by early 2019.
Prime Minister May also announced plans to repeal the European Communities Act by May 2017, a move that will transfer all EU legislation into national laws and hand the power to British lawmakers at the moment of the exit.
She said the British people have voted to leave the EU and become a fully independent, sovereign country, thus Britain will decide for itself, on how it will control immigration and pass its own laws.
Donald Tusk, the president of the European Council, said the statement had brought welcome clarity to the situation.
Experts say her speech was unclear on future immigration and trade issues, but it brought Britain a step closer to its divorce from the European Union.
