☆Bits of knowledge〜Gyoza〜
Gyoza (餃子, gyōza) are dumplings filled with ground meat and vegetables and wrapped in a thin dough. Also known as pot stickers, gyoza originated in China (where they are called jiaozi), but have become a very popular dish in Japan. The typical gyoza filling consists of ground pork, nira chives, green onion, cabbage, ginger, garlic, soy sauce and sesame oil, but some creative gyoza shops have also come up with a range of other fillings.

Men who like dressing as women coming out of the closet in Tokyo
Cross-dressing is coming out of the closet in Tokyo.
Where once it was a secret life for some heterosexual men in Japan, now dressing in women's clothes is being positively encouraged at a number of outlets across the capital.
Meet Rumi. The hair, make up and clothes are all part of his life outside work.
During the week, Rumi is a business man, who's married with two children.
But every couple of weeks, Rumi comes to play and dress up at this photo studio in Tokyo.
His family do not know his secret. He has been interested in dressing as a woman for 15 years and for the last few months he has started coming regularly to a photo studio in central Tokyo where he can choose from a wide selection of women's clothing.
The studio is actually a clothing rental shop that decided to set aside a few days a week to cater for this kind of clientele.
Rumi visits here once every two weeks and is so confident that he wouldn't be recognised that he allowed himself to be filmed.
He has been told he looks good in pink and so he often wears pink clothes.
The staff at the Leaf Style photo studio do Rumi's make-up and help him choose an outfit followed by a simple photo session.
Sometimes Rumi ventures out on the streets dressed like this and he says people rarely spot that he is a man.
It is a gradual process though. He started wearing unisex clothes for the first few times and slowly became more bold.
Now he ventures outside in full make-up, or wearing a skirt.
Men who like dressing as women are still fearful that their double life could be discovered.
They are meticulous in making sure no strands of hairs from the wigs they use remain on their clothes when they go home because they don't want to be discovered.
Rumi says that his wife would probably first suspect that he was having an affair and would never entertain the concept that he liked dressing in women's clothes. If his wife ever became suspicious he would rather she thought he was having an affair, he adds.
Professor Tsuji Izumi teaches at Chuo University in Tokyo. He thinks this phenomenon is not about sexuality.
He says these men don't want to transform themselves into women completely, and that doing so is just a way for them to have an out of character experience.
It's not that these men want to become women completely. They have identities as men and yet enjoy dressing like women. Dressing like a woman for them has become one option to enjoy playing a different character, a different role, he says.
He also says that generally speaking society looks favourably on beautiful women and some men think that life as a woman can be much more fun.
Men who like to dress like women probably want to be on the receiving end of this kind of attention hoping this will make them happier.
He says, Being feminine is more advantageous in today's modern society where good communication skills are needed. Women tend to have better communication skills, which are essential to facilitate human relationships. So being like a woman, speaking and behaving like a woman is a way for these men to experience society in a different way and I think this is why they do it.
He further explains that people in their twenties today in Japan have only experienced stagnant economic growth and have little hope or romanticism for the future.
This is in sharp contrast to life in the 1970s and 1980s when Japan enjoyed incredible economic growth and being manly, playing sports, and studying hard were activities that brought rewards.
Five years ago, Takeshi - who prefers not to give his full name - opened a new type of maid cafe called New Type where the maids are in fact men dressed like women.
Takeshi himself works there as a maid going by the Japanese female name of Chiaki.

☆Bits of knowledge〜Ginza Shopping〜
Guide to Ginza Shopping including an extensive list of department stores, international brand name stores and specialist up market Japanese stores found in Ginza. Ginza is the home of Tokyo’s oldest and most prestigious department stores; the most exclusive is probably Wako. These department stores are famous for the high quality of service they provide customers and are worth visiting for this alone. The shopping in Ginza is mainly focused on fashion, but certainly isn’t only fashion.

It’s called Takosen(たこせん)
Takosen(たこせん) is one of Osaka soul food
It is basically a few takoyaki squashed onto a Japanese rice cracker (Senbei せんべい) and put sauce and mayonnaise on it…. and you can add cheese and fried egg.
Why don’t you eat it? When you come to Osaka.

Osaka - Japan
Osaka (大阪, Ōsaka?) About this sound listen (help·info) is a city in the Kansai region of Japan's main island of Honshū, the designated city under the Local Autonomy Law, the capital city of Osaka Prefecture and also the heart of Greater Osaka Area. Located at the mouth of the Yodo River on Osaka Bay, Osaka is the third largest city by population after Tokyo[1] and Yokohama.
For reference, Greater Osaka Area is the second largest area in Japan by population and one of the largest metropolitan areas highly ranked in the world, with nearly 18 million people,[2] and by GDP, the second largest area in Japan and the seventh largest area in the world.
Historically the commercial capital of Japan, Osaka functions as one of the command centers for the Japanese economy. The ratio between daytime and night time population is 141%, the highest in Japan, highlighting its status as an economic center.[3] Its nighttime population is 2.6 million, the third in the country, but in daytime the population surges to 3.7 million, second only after Tokyo.[4] Osaka has traditionally been referred to as the nation's kitchen (天下の台所, tenka no daidokoro?), or the Mecca of gourmet food.[5][6][7][8Prehistory to the Kofun period
Some of the earliest signs of habitation in the area of Osaka were found at the Morinomiya remains (森の宮遺跡, Morinomiya iseki?), with its shell mounds, including sea oysters and buried human skeletons from the 5th--6th centuries BC. It is believed that what is today the Uehonmachi area consisted of a peninsular land, with an inland sea in the east. During the Yayoi period, permanent habitation on the plains grew as rice farming became popular.[5]
By the Kofun period, Osaka developed into a hub port connecting the region to the western part of Japan. The large numbers, and the increasing size, of tomb mounds found in the plains of Osaka are seen as evidence of political-power concentration, leading to the formation of a state.[5][9]
[edit] Asuka and Nara period
In 645, Emperor Kōtoku built his palace, the Naniwa Nagara-Toyosaki Palace in Osaka,[10] making this area the capital (Naniwa-kyō). The place that became the modern city was by this time called Naniwa. This name, and derived forms, are still in use for districts in central Osaka such as Naniwa (浪速) and Namba (難波).[11] Although the capital was moved to Asuka (in Nara Prefecture today) in 655, Naniwa remained a vital connection, by land and sea, between Yamato (modern day Nara Prefecture), Korea, and China.[5][12]
In 744, Naniwa once again became the capital by order of Emperor Shōmu. Naniwa ceased to be the capital in 745, when the Imperial Court moved back to Heijō-kyō (now Nara). The seaport function was gradually taken over by neighboring lands by the end of Nara period, but it remained a lively center of river, channel, and land transportation between Heian-kyō (Kyoto today) and other destinations.

What NEW Tokyo Tsukiji Fish Market is like AFTER Toyosu MOVE | Street Food Gone!?
Japanese Street Food Guide for new Tokyo Tsukiji Fish Market and new Toyosu Fish Market after moving. The Tokyo Street Food in the Jogai Tsukiji Market remains intact. All the Tsuji street food vendors are still there. We take a look inside the new Toyosu Market and show you what the fish market auction section is like. If you love Japanese street food, then this Tsukiji market is a Tokyo Street Food spot you should visit. After Tsukiji Jonai Fish Market closed down, now there are 2 Tokyo Fish Market areas, one area for Fish auctions and one for tourist and street food. We visit Toyosu Fish Market on the fist day of the fish market opening, October 13 2018. The Toyosu Fish Market tour is great but my favorite is still the Japanese street food in the Tsukiji Fish Market. For my Top 10 things to eat at Tsukiji Fish Market, please check out my Tsukiji Fish Market Guide below:

1) Origin Of Bullet Train {Shinkansen}
Due to the sleek cone-shaped design at the front, bullet train got its name. It’s also recognised as “Shinkansen”in Japan, which means “new trunkline” or “new main line”. It was first started with Tōkaidō-Shinkansen in 1964.
2) Founder of Bullet Train {Shinkansen}
A Japanese engineer Hideo Shima was the man behind the building of the first bullet train. The Shinkansen was the world’s first train to reach top speeds above 209 km/h or (130-mph).
3) Bullet Train Comparison
Chinese railway station of Xian is more impressive than various airports.
Whereas, Tōkaidō Shinkansen route from Tokyo to Osaka, is a gorgeous historical station
I travelled from Moscow to St. Petersburg via Sapsan route. The stations were architecturally beautiful from the outside.
4) Speed and Ticket Fare
Japan: Speed- 320-km/h or 198-mph.
for each 100kms you have to pay 25 dollars.
China: G-Class trains- 350 km/h, Fuxing-Hao- 400 km/h
For every 100kms You have to pay only 4 dollars.
South Korea’s Bullet train: 300kmph
Russian trains: 250-kmph to 350kmph.
5) Survival Rate And Safety
it has the record of zero safety problems, uses Automatic Train Control system (ATC), has emergency braking system.
6) MagLevs Train
Levitate above the track therefor they also known as MagLevs. This advance train already shocked the world in April 2015, by reaching the maximum speed of 603 km/h (275mph) during a test run for the Chuo Shinkansen.
7) Time Respecting Factor
The average delay of a Shinkansen between Tokyo and Osaka was just 36 seconds in 2012.
8) Absence Of Red-green-Yellow Signals
They don’t use conventional Red-Green-Yellow light System. Due to the fact that Shinkansen needs 3kms to stop the train at high speed.
9) Bullet Train Race
Japan need easy money, hence they sold their all technology of E2–1000 Series to China
10) Nomenclature and Performance
Kodama meaning echo,
Hikari meaning light
Nozomi meaning hope,
Nozomi is latest bullet train.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
