Traditional Japanese Apartment Tour in Tokyo, Japan | Shinjuku AirBnB Tour
Come join us for a traditional Japanese apartment tour in Tokyo, Japan as we showcase our Shinjuku airbnb that we stayed at for an entire month. For the month of June we rented this spacious traditional Japanese apartment in Tokyo which was located on the outskirts of Shinjuku closest to ShinOkubo line (15-20 minutes walking distance) in a residential area. The nieghborhood was especially quiet down back-streets and alleys and we were nearby a grocery store and a stream where we could go walking and jogging in the mornings and evenings.
In terms of our apartment in Tokyo, Japan what we liked best was first the size and second the traditional aspects of it. For Tokyo it is a big apartment offering plenty of room for the two of us and even more for guests. We loved how sections of the apartment were divided by curtains and sliding doors meaning we could section the apartment off into four different areas. With tatami mats and a traditional dining table we ate most of our meals sitting down and we also had a couple of nice office spaces where we could work on our computers.
Overall, it was a great stay here at this apartment in Tokyo, Japan and unfortunately we don't have an airbnb link to share with you because this place is no longer listed at the moment.

Japanese Apartment Tour in Tokyo, Japan of our Airbnb in Shinjuku
Tour Travel Video Transcript:
Today we're going to be giving you a Japanese apartment tour. We have been living in this apartment in Tokyo for about a month now. We have finally settled in and tidied up today. So it seemed like a good time to finally show you around. So yeah we're just going to start right now because we're right by the main entrance. We are.
So basically we've got a door here. Yes. To Sam's right. This is our main entrance right here. It is. It opens up into this hallway where you can take off your shoes. You can hang up your jacket. It is the rainy season so lots of umbrellas. The most important thing. They left us two and we were out stranded one day and we picked up one ourselves. So we actually have three and we've been using them a lot.
Yeah so that is kind of like the little entrance way. We've got some cool little curtains as a division from the other room. But we're going to enter through here actually to take you into the main part of the apartment.
So follow me this way. And I will say right off the bat this is the largest Japanese apartment we were able to find online. Yeah. A lot of them were just like studios. So basically one room where you had your bedroom and your kitchen and your living area and we were like no we're going to be here a while so we need more space. And we got so lucky. We were able to find an apartment with 4 different areas. Yes.
Basically we are back where we began. So that concludes our Japanese apartment tour. We hope you guys enjoyed having a look around. Now you know what to expect if you get really lucky with a large apartment. Yes.
We are in a residential area kind of like in the outskirts of Shinjuku. Yes. It is not as touristy here. No. It definitely feels more local. It does.
Rents are cheaper. So yeah. We're what? A fifteen or twenty minute walk from the metro? Yeah, I would say maybe 15 minutes from the closest station on foot. Right. Which isn't bad. Unless it is raining.
ShinOkubo. Okubo. Okubo. That is how they say it when they announce it. Okubo. But yeah that is our apartment. We've really enjoyed being here. And yeah we're going to be showing you some of our other accommodations as we continue to travel through Japan so stay tuned for those. Ciao for now.
This is part of our Travel in Japan video series showcasing Japanese food, Japanese culture and Japanese experiences.

I wanted to release the video last year, however there were many complications involved (lost footage, broken hard drives, footage not good enough etc) and I wanted this video to be perfect! Some of the footage was filmed from up to 4 years ago, if you are wondering why I look so different in some of the footages haha. Really hope you guys enjoy this video, it took me hundreds of hours to film/edit so I hope it was useful!!
Big thanks to these people for helping me make this video happen:

Tokyo | Japan | 2017
Hope you all like the little video I made of my trip to Japan. I finally got to visit the country I've always wanted to visit.
The food was everything I expected and more. It wasn't as expensive as I heard it was. Plus, you could get lunches and snacks from convenience stores like Family Mart and Seven Eleven... they even have Starbucks Green Tea Latte! I could just live off of food in convenience stores lol.
I also had the best ramen ever at Ichiran! But I'm sure there are hole in the wall places that sell even more bomb ramen. Tokyo is food heaven. But one thing though... I don't know how vegetarians can survive there cause literally every restaurant we ate in served like a piece of lettuce or something LOL. Can't get my daily dose of veggies in.
They have green tea everything too. Ugh why can't the States have that healthy alternative LOL.
Did I mention I loved using the toilet in Japan? Is that weird? Ok yea I know it's weird but they're all SO CLEAN! Even small restaurants where you wouldn't expect it to be clean, has water squirt up your butt after you're done doing your business. Almost every subway station I've been in had toilets like that too. It's all spotless! I can finally do my business in peace :D :D
I have more vlogs of Japan coming too. Check back for my Kyoto & Osaka trip! I will upload it I swear haha. Just give me some time :)
Oh, and apologies for my low definition drone footage. It's difficult to shoot in Tokyo... I had to be sneaky LOL.
Chef's Table Dinner: Behind the Scenes, Part 7
Dessert! Chef Rafael and his team serve Baked Alaska, apple tarts and hand-selected cheeses, drawing to a close the six-course Chef's Table dinner prepared for the investors who own Hilton Westchester. The Baked Alaska is filled with vanilla yogurt, raspberry vanilla and chambord. The apple tarts feature Hudson Valley appels served with cinnamon and brown sugar. The cheeses, locally sourced from Sprout Creek Farm in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., include Eden, Toussaint and Bogart, all made with raw cow's milk, and Madeleine and Sophie, both made with raw goat's milk.
Our video grooves to the Music of Quantum Jazz: If I Can't Dance, It's Not My Revolution and All About the Sun.

Junya Sakino on the Making of Sake-Bomb
New American Filmmakers delegate Junya Sakino was born and raised in Japan. In 2000, He moved to the U.S. to pursue his directing career. In 2003, he made his U.S. directorial debut with short film THE JAZZ ADDICT. Sakino subsequently went on to study film at CSU Long Beach directing shorts, VANITY MIRROR, THE SPIRAL RING and ORIZURU (2006). SAKE-BOMB marks his debut as a feature-length director.
SAKE-BOMB
A sake-bomb is a cocktail created by dropping a shot of sake into a pint of beer. The alcoholic collision of the Japanese and the American encapsulates the contentious relationship between Naoto and Sebastian, the main leads of SAKE-BOMB, one of the funniest Asian-American comedies of the last few years.
Sebastian is a bitter, self-deprecating wannabe Internet star from Los Angeles. He has recently been dumped by his girlfriend, who can't take his juvenile slackerdom anymore. When his cousin Naoto (Gaku Hamada), a naive sake maker from Japan, shows up to find his own ex-girlfriend in Northern California, Sebastian reluctantly takes him on a road trip to go find her. Along the way, cultural misunderstandings, underhanded behavior and hijinks ensue; it's clash of cultures ready to explode. Together they meet a colorful group of characters and situations as they come to grips with who they are and the true nature of the significant others they are pursuing. The film is the debut feature of Japanese-born and L.A.-based producer Junya Sakino and Jeff Mizushima (the award-winning ETIENNE!, SALAD DAYS [HIFF 2012]).
