Japan Travel: Joyama Park impressive cherry blossoms, Nagano28 Moopon
Joyama Park is one of Matsumoto's most popular spots for cherry blossom viewing (hanami). The typical timing for best viewing in the average year is mid April. Joyama Park is a medium sized park located on the hills north of Matsumoto's city center with some fascinating rows of cherry trees and a lawn area.

About Matsumoto city
Matsumoto is the second largest city in Nagano Prefecture. It is most famous for Matsumotojo as one of Japan's most beautiful original castles. The city is also a good place for trips into the Japanese Alps, like to Kamikochi, Norikura or the Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route.

臥龍桜は、飛騨高山のやや南方に立つ樹齢1,100年の巨桜で、国の「天然記念物」に指定されています。
木の枝と幹の形状が、龍が臥した姿に見えることから、「臥龍桜」と名づけられています。
高さ20ｍ、枝張り30ｍ、幹周り7.3ｍもある国内最大級のエドヒガンの巨桜であり、過去に幾度もの枯死状態から見事に復活してきました。
周囲は「臥龍公園」として整備されており、飛騨高山の遅い春のフィナーレを飾るように満開の花を咲かせます。

Myokoji Temple in Ichinomiya City
Myokoji is a large zen temple in Ichinomiya City. Nearby station is Myokoji Station of Meitestu Line about 20 minutes ride from Meitetsu Nagoya Station.
This temple was founded in 13th century by a young monk who belonged to a local noble family, commemorating and appreciating his mother.
Its large compound is surounded by forests with scattered old buildings. Its scale and atomosphare are comparative to the large temples in Kyoto, Nara or Kamakura. However, unlike those counterparts in famous tourist destinations, here in Myokoji, I have never seen a tourist.
In this temple, young zen monks are being trained even now.
