Israel, the Promised Land, the New Jerusalem
LAND - The Land of Israel, The Promised Land: Genesis to Revelation (by Gina Turner) :-)
Going back to the very beginning, in the first book of the Bible, Genesis, in the very first chapter, we see the creation of the earth, the creation of man and woman, and God’s blessing to Adam and Eve, telling them to be fruitful and increase in number, to fill the earth, subdue it, and rule over it. In the next ten chapters, we see the fall of man and woman into sin, along with the genealogy from Adam to Noah to Abraham. In Genesis chapter 12, we see God promises Abraham, “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” In Genesis chapter 15, God promises Abraham He will give Abraham descendants, and He will give Abraham’s descendants the land from the river of Egypt (Nile) to the Euphrates river (in Iraq). In Genesis chapter 16, Sarah, Abraham’s wife gets impatient with God’s promise as they are very old and still haven’t had children, so Sarah gives her maidservant Hagar to Abraham to sleep with, and Hagar and Abraham have a son named Ishmael. However, God confirms in Genesis chapter 17 that the covenant will be established with the son that Abraham and Sarah will bear, named Isaac. Isaac grows up, and he and Rebekah have twin sons named Jacob and Esau. Esau was born first, but sold his birthright to Jacob. Isaac blesses Jacob, saying, “May those who curse you be cursed and those who bless you be blessed.” One night, Jacob has a dream in which he sees a stairway resting on the earth with its top reaching Heaven, and angels of God were ascending and descending on it. There above it stood the Lord, and He promises: “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. Your descendants will spread out and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring, and I will bring you back to this land.” In Genesis chapter 35, God tells Jacob that his name will no longer be Jacob, it will be Israel. And God names Jacob Israel in verse 10. Jacob, now known as Israel, has 12 sons, and these become the 12 tribes of Israel.
So, why does this matter? What is the point of all of this?
Along with all of this history and genealogy and God appearing to man, interspersed are stories of man’s sinfulness, from the fall in the garden of Eden, to the times of Noah, to Sodom and Gomorrah. There needs to be a solution to all of this sin, and God has had a plan from the very beginning.
One of Israel’s 12 sons is named Judah. You may have heard of the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. Judah’s genealogy continues, including King David, all the way to King Jesus, the Messiah, the Savior of the world. Why is Jesus different than any other man that has lived on the earth? Because He was without sin. He was the only one not infected by the sin problem. In fact, He was, and is, the Son of God. In the Bible, in the book of Luke, chapter one, God tells the virgin Mary, “You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”
Before that time came however, God had given people the Ten Commandments. The people couldn’t keep the commandments and all the laws that came with them, and so they made sacrifices to atone for their sin. But they kept sinning and sinning and sinning, and sacrificing, and sacrificing, and sacrificing. God sent Jesus to be the final perfect sacrifice for sin, and Jesus paid for all of our sins with His blood on the cross. We receive that gracious gift of forgiveness through faith, by believing on the Lord Jesus. For we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus died to pay for OUR sins, for He was without sin. He resurrected three days later, appeared to many, ascended to Heaven, and is coming back on the clouds to bring all those cleansed by the blood of Jesus to live with Him forever.
Please pray with me now to be cleansed by the blood of Jesus:
God, thank you that you are good, and that you have had a loving plan from the very beginning to redeem your people. We want to be cleansed of sin by the blood of Jesus and live with you in your eternal kingdom forever. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.
01 Introduction. The Land of the Bible: Location & Land Bridge
Introduction to the location of the Land of the Bible, including its small size yet important position as a land bridge between three continents. To be used in conjunction with the Satellite Bible Atlas.
Old City Jerusalem Overview: See All the Biblical Sites in Jerusalem. Filmed in Israel.
See all the biblical sites around Jerusalem. A tour of the Old City, Mt. of Olives, Garden of Gethsemane, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Triumphal Entry, Western Wall, City of David, Kidron Valley, Southern Stairs, Temple Mount, Bethesda, Pool of Siloam, and much more!
Location
1. Jerusalem is in the central part of Israel about 33 miles (53 km.) east of Tel Aviv and the Mediterranean Sea.
2. It’s situated at an altitude of 2,600 ft. (800 m.) above sea level and one of the highest cities in Israel.
3. It’s located on a mountain that is well protected. For this reason, it was hard to capture by enemy forces.
4. Jerusalem rests primarily upon bedrock, so everything was well preserved.
5. Jerusalem is the Old Testament, Mount Moriah.
Historical Background
1. Jerusalem means “City of Peace.”
2. It’s mentioned over 500 times in the Bible.
3. It’s first mentioned as the city in which King Melchizedek, King of Salem (Jerusalem) lived (Gen. 14:17). Melchizedek was a figure of Christ as he had neither beginning of days or end of life.
Hebrews 7:1: For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham as he was returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, 2 to whom also Abraham apportioned a tenth part of all the spoils, was first of all, by the translation of his name, king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, which is king of peace.
4. Jerusalem is the special dwelling place of God on this earth.
Psalms 76:2: His tent is in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion.
Psalm 135:21: Praise be to the LORD from Zion, to him who dwells in Jerusalem. Praise the LORD.
5. It was in Jerusalem, on Mount Moriah, that Abraham was to offer Isaac, his firstborn son to God, on the very place the temple would later be built.
Genesis 22:2: Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about.”
6. Jerusalem was partially conquered by the Israelites when they entered the Promised Land.
7. King David purchased the original Temple Mount in Jerusalem from Araunah when it was just a threshing floor. He purchased it to build an altar to the Lord.
8. Jerusalem was then later fully conquered by King David.
9. Afterward, King David set up his throne in Jerusalem, and it became the ruling center of Israel from then on.
10. King Solomon then built the Temple in 960 AD on the exact location where Abraham was going to sacrifice Isaac. This exact location was also the very threshing floor that King David had purchased.
2 Chronicles 3:1: Then Solomon began to build the temple of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to his father, David. It was on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite, the place provided by David.
11. And at the dedication of the temple Solomon built, the temple was so filled with the glory of God that the priest had to withdraw and suspend their dedication service.
1 Kings 8:10–11: When the priests withdrew from the Holy Place, the cloud filled the temple of the LORD. 11 And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled his temple.
12. Jerusalem became the center of worship in Israel.
13. The kings of Israel reigned from Jerusalem.
14. The prophets of Israel spoke and ministered in Jerusalem.
15. Unfortunately, the first temple built by Solomon was destroyed in 586 BC by Babylon because of God’s judgment on Israel for their disobedience to Him.
16. The altar and foundation of the second temple were built by Zerubbabel in 535 BC.
17. The construction of the second temple was carried on under Ezra’s leadership in 458 BC.
Ezra 6:3: In the first year of King Cyrus, the king issued a decree concerning the temple of God in Jerusalem: Let the temple be rebuilt as a place to present sacrifices, and let its foundations be laid.
18. Nehemiah then arrived to rebuild the city and walls of Jerusalem in 445 BC.
Nehemiah 2:17: Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.
19. The Temple Mount Platform was then later enlarged tremendously by King Herod in 19 BC.
20. On top of the Temple Mount Platform (and over the existing second temple, which was later removed) a new massive temple was built by King Herod in 19 BC and was made more beautiful than any before it.
FOUR Bible Predictions about Israel and the Middle East - Will Jerusalem Survive?
Order this free book - The Middle East in Prophecy:
Welcome to Tomorrow’s World where we tackle the truly important questions facing our world and ourselves. Former Soviet Union Leader Mikhail Gorbachev caught the attention of major newspapers around the world in an op-ed piece for Time Magazine.
Gorbachev is a student of history, and all evidence indicates he is a man who would rather have peace than war. Presidents Gorbachev and Ronald Reagan bought time for the world when they agreed to ratchet down nuclear stockpiles. The two men began what appeared to be a truly friendly relationship, following decades of the Cold War between the two superpower antagonists. Mr. Reagan will go down in history as the one who challenged the Soviet President, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.” And Mr. Gorbachev will go down in history as the one who tore down the Berlin Wall, setting free millions of oppressed people from a failed Marxist system, and this opened the way for the reunification of Germany. So when he wrote:
It all looks as if the world is preparing for war
People took notice. He further wrote in his January 2017 editorial,
The world today is overwhelmed with problems. Policymakers seem to be confused and at a loss.
Indeed! The world IS confused and at a loss. He named the escalating inventory of modern weapons a danger to the world:
More troops, tanks and armored personnel carriers are being brought to Europe. NATO and Russian forces and weapons that used to be deployed at a distance are now placed closer to each other, as if to shoot point-blank.
But the big problem is not Europe, although it is destined to play a vital role in the future. The real problem is found in the Middle East, specifically in the city of Jerusalem. What’s in store for this city? That is the focus of today’s Tomorrow’s World telecast. There is an answer. It is known, and it will affect your world and your life. On this program I’ll show you what to expect, and I’ll be offering you a free publication that documents in advance what will happen in that part of the world and how it will affect you. This publication, The Middle East in Prophecy, is yours free for the asking, so be sure to have writing material ready so you can take down the phone number to order your free copy. I’ll be right back to show you what to expect for the city of peace, where there is no peace, so don’t go away!
Welcome once again to Tomorrow’s World, and I especially welcome all of you who are tuning in for the first time. I’m pleased you’ve joined us today. And I’m pleased to offer you our free publication, The Middle East in Prophecy.
Our world is in trouble. As former Soviet President and Nobel Peace Prize recipient Mikhail Gorbachev wrote,
Politicians and military leaders sound increasingly belligerent and defense doctrines more dangerous. Commentators and TV personalities are joining the bellicose chorus. It all looks as if the world is preparing for war.
Nowhere is the specter of war more probable than in the volatile Middle East. When nations were smaller, when transportation was on two legs or four legs, when wind powered ships, and aircraft didn’t exist, confused policymakers could only do so much damage. That has changed. Confused leaders can do immense damage in our technologically advanced world!
High speed communication and transportation connect us, but we can’t get along together. Add to this, incredibly destructive technologies: nuclear weapons, smart bombs, chemical and biological weapons, with missiles, unmanned planes and drone ships to deliver those weapons of mass destruction. It’s a dangerous place when policymakers in THIS kind of world are, as Mr. Gorbachev says, “confused and at a loss.”
Conflicts that start small in one part of the world can quickly spread to all parts of the world. In effect, no one is safe!
The tiny nation of Israel, and it’s chief city Jerusalem, are at the core of many Middle Eastern problems. The beginning of today’s problems can be found in the book known as the Bible. There we read of a man named Abram, later called Abraham. His wife seemingly could not have children. One day Sarai, who also experienced a name change to Sarah, came up with an idea that appeared good at the time. We read of it in Genesis 16:
So Sarai said to Abram, “See now, the LORD has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.” (Genesis 16:2)
Abram listened to his wife. A child was born and they named him Ishmael. A divine messenger informed the couple that he and his descendants would be difficult to get along with. Here it is in Genesis 16:12.
He shall be a wild man; his hand shall be against every man, and every man’s hand against him.

Sodom & Gomorrah, Mount Sodom, Lot's Wife, and Amazing New Discoveries!
See a powerful video about the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, and witness amazing new discoveries that confirm their existence and location. God chose to destroy these wicked cities, and all throughout the Bible He speaks of Sodom and Gomorrah as an example of judgment to come for those who reject Him. Prepare yourself to be touched as you watch this unique video!
Location
1. Sodom and Gomorrah are located around the eastern side of the Dead Sea.
2. Gomorrah is located at the base of Masada, and Sodom is about 13 miles (20 km.) south of Gomorrah.
3. Though the actual locations of the cities are somewhat disputed, the growing evidence reveals that the locations are quite certain. This evidence is provided in the following section.
Historical Background
1. Josephus, a historian writer during the time of Christ, said the ruins could still be clearly seen in his day.
2. Archeologists have discovered around 1.5 million bodies in graves in these areas around Sodom and Gomorrah.
3. There are a lot of brimstone (old name for sulfur) balls in these cities.
4. This sulfur is unique and different from all other sulfur found in the world.
It is around 90-95% pure.
It is white, unlike any other place in the world.
It is so pure you can light it on fire, and it burns a hot blue flame.
These sulfur balls are not found between the cities.
5. There is a lot of ash in these areas which fits the biblical narrative.
2 Peter 2:6: And if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly lives thereafter.
6. The material of these city formations is calcium sulfate, which is what limestone and sulfur become when heated.
7. The choice building material in Israel is limestone, so these cities fit the scientific evidence as well.
8. There is a lot of charcoal layers found in the strata of these cities.
9. The amount of ash, charcoal, and calcium sulfate reveals overwhelming evidence of extreme heat in these cities.
10. There is also no geothermal activity in these areas to explain the ash, charcoal, and calcium sulfate.
11. In addition, there are many unexplained shapes in these areas that look like buildings, Sphinxes, pyramids, and palaces.
12. These cities existed around 4,000 years ago, so their remains would be difficult to distinguish. Plus, God destroyed and reduced them to ashes as well.
13. These cities fit the location as described in the Bible.
Genesis 13:10: Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the valley of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere—this was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah—like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar [Zoar has been identified as being south of Sodom and Gomorrah].
14. Because the Dead Sea basin used to be like the Garden of Eden, it was an extremely desirable climate that was great for agriculture and life in general. It was, therefore, a very populated area.
15. The thought of God raining down fire and brimstone upon the cities and peoples in this area is staggering and gives me chills up and down my spine. This fire and brimstone were so hot and intense it destroyed everything in its wake.
16. God also used Sodom and Gomorrah to refer to all of the cities of the Dead Sea basin.

IS THIS THE FINAL GENERATION?
The FINAL Generation: Psalm 83, God’s Plan for the Future. Prophecy is to point us to Christ who is the author of history, and the theme of Scripture.
God's Word is at its very center prophetic.
The God who recorded the beginning, that no one but Him witnessed in Genesis; is also the God records the ending, that no one but Him could have ever written, in Revelation.
Isn’t it amazing that God devotes 1/4th or 25% of the Bible to the indivisible union that the world’s destiny has with God’s Chosen People of Promise, Israel, Jerusalem, and the Jews? Always remember: THE CENTRALITY OF ISRAEL IN THE BIBLE
Using just a normal Bible with no study notes (my Bible is 1100 pages long) you find that:
600 pages (Genesis to Song of Solomon) are Israel’s origin, history, wanderings away from God, and worship (that is 600/1100 pages or) 54%; and
250 pages are devoted to the prophets (Isaiah to Malachi) that speak of the doom coming first to Israel then and the world in the future (that is 250/1100 pages or) 23%; and then we get:
-110 pages devoted to the Life of Christ (Matthew to John) that lasts for (110/1100 pages or) -10% of the Bible; and then
-120 pages devoted to the record of Acts to Jude that explains Christ's Church’s birth and mission for 120/1100 pages or 11%; and then the
-20 pages of Revelation describing the centrality of Israel and Jerusalem in end of the world take up almost (20/1100 pages or) 2% of the Bible.
So just a simple glance at the Table of Contents of God's Word would make a reader conclude that Israel, Jerusalem, and the Jews are very important to God.
And also, just the layout of the Bible that opens and closes with Israel, Jerusalem, and the Jews with the Church’s 21 % of the Word sandwiched importantly, but intentionally between the opening and closing
God who engineered the Scriptures has chosen to devote fully (4/5ths or) 79% of the Bible to Israel’s origin, calling, chastisement, return, and future troubles that engulf the whole world.
Each time the Old Testament prophets explained the future they universally began with Israel and all details revolved around Jerusalem and the Land.
Each times Jesus explained how the world would end He starts with Israel, Jerusalem, and the Jewish people (Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21).
Each time Paul explained how the world would end, began with Israel and all details revolved around Jerusalem in Romans 9-11, 1 & 2 Thessalonians (II Th. 2:4).
Each time John explained how the world would end, began with Israel and all details revolved around Jerusalem in Revelation 11, 13, 16, 19.
Israel is the 3rd largest topic is the Bible

Archaeology Discoveries that Prove the Bible is True [FULL VIDEO]
Amazing historical and archaeological evidence that proves the Bible is true. Archeology helps confirm the truth and reliability of the Bible. In addition, the many fantastic finds bring new light to the people, places, cultures and times of the biblical period. Archeology proves the skeptics wrong and the Bible to be true.
Explores Biblical archaeology in a lecture setting proving wrong the controversies that the Jewish people were not in Egypt. Never crossed over from Egypt to the promised land, Israel. This new evidence further refutes any notion that the Bible is “fiction”, a “fairy-tale” rather than fact. When in fact the truth of archaeology through a scientific process has confirmed the “Holy Bible” to be accurate

We can learn a lot from the life of David. He was a man after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13:13-14; Acts 13:22)
We are first introduced to David after Saul, at the insistence of the people, was made king (1 Samuel 8:5, 10:1).
This choice of king, or even having an earthly king at all, was against the will of God, and although Saul was anointed by God through Samuel, he did not measure up as God’s king.
While King Saul was making one mistake on top of another, God sent Samuel to find His chosen shepherd, David, the son of Jesse (1 Samuel 16:10, 13). David was believed to be 12-16 years of age when he was called in from tending his father’s sheep to be anointed as the true king of Israel.
As soon as the anointing oil flowed down David’s head the Spirit of the Lord departed from King Saul (1 Samuel 16:14).
The fact that evil spirits were tormenting Saul brought David into the king’s service (1 Samuel 16:21).
Saul was pleased with young David, but this feeling vanished quickly as David rose in strength to slay the Philistine giant, Goliath, and win the overwhelming favor of the people (1 Samuel 17:45-51). The chant in the camp of Saul was taunting as the people sang out the praises of David and demeaned their king, causing a raging jealousy in Saul that never subsided (1 Samuel 18:7-8).
If you or someone you know has eked his way through life amid strife, conflict and continuous battles, then you might understand how David lived and felt throughout his lifetime.
Although Saul never stopped pursuing him with the intent to kill him, David never raised a hand against his king and God’s anointed (1 Samuel 19:1-2, 24:5-7). He did, however, raise up a mighty army and with power from God defeated everyone in his path, always asking God first for permission and instructions before going into battle (2 Samuel 5:22-23, 23:8-17).
Throughout the life of David, God honored and rewarded this unconditional obedience of His servant and gave him success in everything he did (2 Samuel 8:6).
David mourned King Saul’s death and put to death the one claiming responsibility for Saul’s death (2 Samuel 1:12-16).
Only after Saul’s death was David anointed king over the house of Judah (2 Samuel 2:4), and even then he had to fight against the house of Saul before being anointed king over Israel at the age of thirty (2 Samuel 5:3-4). Now king, David conquered Jerusalem and became more and more powerful because the Lord Almighty was with him (2 Samuel 5:7).
David was so enthralled with bringing the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem that he omitted some of God’s instructions on how to transport the Ark and who was to carry it.
This resulted in the death of Uzzah who, amid all the celebrations, reached out to steady the Ark, and God struck him down and he died there beside it (2 Samuel 6:1-7). In fear of the Lord, David abandoned the moving of the Ark for three months and let it rest in the house of Obed-Edom (2 Samuel 6:11).
After the Ark was in its rightful place, David decided to build a temple of the Lord around it (2 Samuel 6:17).
Because of David’s bloody, battle-scarred record as well as his adulterous relationship with Bathsheba and the slaying of her husband, God denied his otherwise faithful servant the honor of building the temple, the house of the Lord (2 Samuel 6:5-14).
This was surely a blow to David, but God assured him He would continue to make his name the greatest on the earth and forever establish the throne of David through David’s son, Solomon. Instead of being angry with God and having a pity party, David sat before the Lord, praising Him and thanking Him for all the many blessings he had received in his life (2 Samuel 7:18-29).
David’s battles did not end with his kingship but continued with the surrounding nations and within his own household. Throughout the life of David, His sons connived and conspired to take control of the kingdom and they, as did Saul, threatened their own father’s life.
And as with the death of Saul, David mourned the death of his beloved son Absalom, showing a passionate and forgiving heart (2 Samuel chapters 15-18).
David’s broken heart and contrite spirit are what brought him the forgiveness of God and are what will bring him back to be the prince of Christ during Christ’s millennial reign.
