Monteverde Costa Rica Night Walk and Tour at Valle Escondido
For our night hike / tour, we were shuttled to Valle Escondido Preserve about 5:00pm straight from our lodge. The area of Monteverde, during our stay, was really windy and the location of the night hike was no different, super windy.
When we arrived we were greeted by our guide and were given our flashlights. We still had a few minutes until the night hike started so I ran down and got a time lapse of the sunset... stunning!
Once we got down into the jungle / forest a bit, the wind wasn't as bad but you could still see and hear it blowing fiercely above us. Our guide showed us everything he could find but apparently the strong winds kept a lot of the night life out of the trees.
We saw several types of birds, spiders, and ants but that was about it. A bit disappointing, but to no fault of our tour guide or the establishment. You can't make animals appear on demand unless you're at a zoo or Disneyland :)
Overall, just being in the forest, in central america, in Costa Rica, in Monteverde... in the middle of nowhere was really awesome. Although we didn't see much, just being out in nature was awesome. Highly recommend the night tour and walk at Valle Escondido Preserve.
On a technical note, I tried shooting this footage with my GoPro Hero4 Silver in low light mode at 1080p / 60fps and think it turned out pretty good.
Comment if you've had better luck with other settings in low light situations.

Cloud Forest
A cloud forest, also called a water forest, is a generally tropical or subtropical, evergreen, montane, moist forest characterized by a persistent, frequent or seasonal low-level cloud cover, usually at the canopy level, formally described in the International Cloud Atlas (2017) as silvagenitus. Cloud forests often exhibit an abundance of mosses covering the ground and vegetation, in which case they are also referred to as mossy forests. Mossy forests usually develop on the saddles of mountains, where moisture introduced by settling clouds is more effectively retained
Cloud-forest conditions are hard and expensive to replicate in a glasshouse because it is necessary to maintain a very high humidity. This is usually expensive as a high temperature must usually be maintained as well, and a high temperature combined with high humidity calls for good air circulation or else fungi and algae will develop. Such displays usually are quite small, but there are some notable exceptions. For many years, the Singapore Botanic Gardens have a so-called coolhouse, whereas the newly opened (2012) Gardens by the Bay feature a very big 0.8 hectares (2.0 acres) coolhouse that is simply named Cloud Forest. The latter features a 42-metre (138 ft)-high artificial mountain clad in epiphytes such as orchids, ferns, clubmosses, bromeliads and others. The cloud forest also features a display on the threat to cloud-forest ecology posed by global warming.

Underwhelming Korean Waterfall
Don't let the title fool you although I didn't want to hype it up too much. Although it wasn't roaring, it was beautiful.

It is the best beach in all of Costa Rica with turquoise blue water and white sand beaches. We ended our trip at Clandestino Beach Resort, at Playa Palo Seco, a luxurious 4 star resort offering luxurious private huts and delicious food. It also offers miles of wild secluded beaches with no sign of human life!
