Archbishop of York announces rejuvenated Holy Trinity Church will become a Minster in 2017
The Archbishop of York announced Hull’s magnificent Holy Trinity Church is to be re-dedicated as a Minster. The Minster-making service to be held on 13 May 2017 is anticipated to be a keynote event during Hull’s year as UK City of Culture. At the announcement, the great West Doors of magnificent Holy Trinity were opened for the first time in a year since the external works began to enable the Archbishop, Bishop of Hull and other VIPs to be taken on a tour of the Trinity Square redevelopment before they each signed and laid a paving stone as part of the resurfacing of the showpiece location.

Bringing Christ to the streets of London
Cardinal Vincent Nichols has led a procession of the Blessed Sacrament through Covent Garden - a visitor hot-spot in the heart of London.
Covent Garden attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists each year with its shops, restaurants, street artists and theatres. On the Feast of Corpus Christi, Sunday 3 June, it was Christ - present in the Blessed Sacrament - held high and carried through the streets of the capital.
Let all Mortal Flesh keep Silence; Edward C. Bairstow
The Choir of Trinity Memorial Church, Binghamton, NY, Timothy E. Smith, Choirmaster, offering the Prelude to Evensong at The National Cathedral, Washington, DC, February 19, 2017. This is an excerpt from a live recording.
Text from the liturgy of St. James:
Let all mortal flesh keep silence,
and stand with fear and trembling;
And lift thyself above all earthly thought.
For the King of kings and Lord of lords,
Christ our God cometh forth to be our oblation,
and to be giv'n for Food to the faithful.
Before Him come the choirs of angels,
with ev'ry principality and pow'r;
the Cherubim with many eyes, and winged Seraphim,
who veil their faces, as they shout exultingly the hymn,
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia,
Let all mortal flesh keep silence, and stand with fear and trembling.

When the land is fast asleep (tune Godfrey) - pipe organ, Holy Trinity Church, St Austell
The little-known early 20th century children's evening hymn When the land is fast asleep, to the tune Godfrey (words and music by Sebastian William Meyer, 1856-1946), played by Peter Tylor on the pipe organ at Holy Trinity Church, St Austell, Cornwall, a.k.a. St Austell Parish Church (NPOR K00221), 21/11/2017.
When the land is fast asleep,
Jesus! all Thy children keep:
Through the darkness of the night
Be our guard and be our light:
If we wake with sudden fear,
Give us courage, Jesus dear:
Bless our dreams until the sun
Tells us that the night is gone;
Then refreshed by sleep we'll rise,
See new glory in the skies,
Find new strength and feel new love,
As in Thee we live and move.
This hymn appears - uniquely, as far as I know - at no. 436 in The Fellowship Hymn-Book Supplement of 1920 (bound in with later printings of The Fellowship Hymn-Book of 1909), where it is entitled A Child's Evening Hymn. Meyer - a York Quaker, local councillor and alderman, and General Manager of the Dearne Valley Railway in South Yorkshire - served on the Committee which compiled the original 1909 book as a representative of the National Council of Adult School Unions.
This fine 3M&P instrument with 35 speaking stops - originally built in about 1878 by Bryceson Bros and Ellis of London, enlarged by Hele & Co. of Plymouth and Exeter in 1914, and rebuilt by Maurice Eglinton of Saltash in 1973 - is currently little used in Sunday worship, for which the music is largely provided by an instrumental group (albeit a very good one of its kind). Furthermore, it was proposed some time ago, as part of a radical scheme of alterations to the building, that this organ be replaced with a small electronic substitute, to enable the space that it now occupies to be used for meeting rooms.
However, over the past year or so - due in part, perhaps, to changes in the church's leadership - there has been evidence of an increased recognition of the aesthetic and amenity value of the present instrument from within the church community, as well as from outside. Thus, whilst its future is by no means assured, there is hope that it may yet receive the care and attention that it deserves - and that it will continue to be used to glorify God, and uplift the hearts and souls of the people of St Austell and beyond, for many years to come!
St John's Church,Little Marlow,(From Above)(History In Description),Bucks,Uk
Little Marlow is a village in the Wycombe district of Buckinghamshire, on the N bank of the Thames which forms the boundary between Buckinghamshire, the Unitary Authority of Windsor & Maidenhead at this point. The nearest large towns are High Wycombe, 3 miles NW, Maidenhead, 4 miles S. The church stands at the S end of the village, alongside the manor. It consists of a chancel with a S chapel, a nave with N & S aisles, a N porch, a W tower. Alongside the tower are modern N and S vestries. Construction is of flint rubble with clunch quoins & brick repairs, except for the N porch, which is timber framed on an old brick base,the vestries which are timber framed on modern brick bases. The church is 12thc in origin, as shown by the chancel arch,the arch to the S chancel chapel. The chancel was rebuilt in the 13thc, the N nave aisle & the W tower are 14thc, the S aisle dates to the 15thc, at which time the S chapel was also rebuilt. The N porch is 16thc work, restored in 1902. The chancel & S chapel arch, the font, all plain, are recorded here.
A manor assessed at 5 hides was held by Queen Edith in 1066,by Bishop Odo of Bayeux in 1086,Tedald held it from him. When Odo forfeited his lands the overlordship was apparently given to the Earls of Gloucester. The manor was given to Little Marlow Priory,afterwards was known as Little Marlow manor. The church, however, belonged to another manor of 8½ hides,half a virgate, held by Miles Crispin in 1086, by Haming, a then of King Edward, in 1066. Miles Crispin's lands later became the Honour of Wallingford. The tenants were Ralf and Roger, sons of Roland de Anvers,their two tenancies later became two manors, called Danvers & Losemere. Roland Danvers held the tenancy under the Honour of Wallingford in 1165 and still in 1186-87. He died in 1196 . Ralf, presumably his son, was holding in 1201-02. Roger's share of Roland's manor was known as Losemere by the 14thc.
The advowson was shared equally between the manors of Danvers, Losemere.

Learning to be a Christian at school - Faith in action
Benjamin Brett, a student at Trinity High Church of England High school in Manchester, explains how the Christian ethos of the secondary school encourages students of all faiths and none to develop their understanding of the world through interaction with others.
His faith influences his relationships with friends, as it becomes about wanting the best for them. His friends of other faiths have led him to explore and investigate his Christian faith. The school teaches them to embrace differences in order to better understand the world.

Corpus Christi Procession in Manhattan, New York City
2SPetrvs filmed these wonderful impressions of the annual Corpus Christi Procession through Midtown Manhattan, New York City, in the area passing Times Square, with the parish of Holy Innocents in New York. On this occasion, the Redeemer of the world is gloriously and reverently brought out into the world, particularly on the streets of perhaps the most secularized and fast-paced metropolis. As the only church in NYC that offers Holy Mass in the Extraordinary Form daily, the Church of the Holy Innocents is a vital thread that holds the city together, even if many New Yorkers themselves do not realize it.
