Excellence in Infrastructure Submission for project: YMS1 - Scarborough Bride
Owner: Network Rail managed structure
Location: UK
Brief Description: The brief was to reconstruct the existing 100 year old cast iron, ornate, visually sensitive structure spanning the River Ouse with an aesthetically similar structure. The structure carries the main line to Scarborough which was required to carries heavy stream trains, of which the existing structure did not have the capacity to accommodate. The structure is adjacent to York station of which the approach leads straight onto platform 4. The replacement structure must provide a 120 year design life using modern engineering techniques, materials, incorporating innovation and sustainability.
