OUR goal is to preserve the history of the surfing culture throughout the globe. It is dedicated to Duke Kahanamoku, who is generally regarded as the person who popularized the modern sport of surfing. The International Surfing Museum displays historic surfboards, provides information about legendary surfers, and shows classic surf films. Visitors can examine artistic surfing sculptures and hear surf music. Admission to the museum is without charge.

Mr. Moto Jam at Huntington Beach Surf Museum
Duo-Tones Surf Jam at the Huntington Beach Surf Museum parking lot on 7/24/2005. Eight local surf guitar players took turns in a tribute to Paul Johnson, playing Mr. Moto along with Paul and Gil (aka, The Duo Tones). In order of appearance, along with Paul and Gil, are Dave Wronski (Slacktone), Ron Eglit (Surfaries, also Dick Dale's former bass player), Tom Stanton (Surf Kings), Matt Quilter (Reventlos), Rich Knight (Royaltones), Dave Arnson (Insect Surfers), Rob Woolsey (Detonators), and Bob Spickard (Chantays). Unfortunitly, my memory card filled up while Bob was playing, so that, and PJ and Gil closing the performance is missing.
Sorry for the poor quality, but I shot this with my still camera in movie mode. But it will give those of you who were there something to remember, and those of you who weren't there, an idea of what we get to see here in Southern California :-)
Thanks to HBkahuna and photog4surfbands from surfguitar101.com for helping me id all the players!

Memories of the 2018 splash!
REGISTER for 2019 Splash AT
Join us at the 2019 Splash. HB Locals & Visitors alike love our tradition of starting off each New Year with a SPLASH! One reason I started doing this was to highlight the fact you can (and I do) swim in our stretch of ocean any time of the year WITHOUT A WETSUIT! The biggest reason for starting this event was to recognize our very active Service Clubs (Rotary, Lions, Kiwanis) and other local volunteers. The Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum now puts this event on each year. This annual fundraiser helps keeps the doors to our treasured Museum open.
Don't forget...you can make a SPLASH with your toes! You don't have to immerse yourself in the ocean to be a part of this thrilling event! Start 2019 by Sharing the Spirit of the #surfingmuseum by participating in the #surfcitysplash on January 1.
