Model of Ancient Jerusalem: outdoors at the Israel Museum
An extensive model of Jerusalem in the time of the Second Temple is outdoors at the Israel Museum in western Jerusalem. It recreates Jerusalem in 66 CE before its destruction by the Romans in 70 CE. The reconstruction relied on ancient texts and the Mishnah, the Talmud, and the Bible (Old and New Testament). The ancient city was at its largest size, more than twice the size of the current Old City of Jerusalem. In the model you will see The Second Temple, Robinson’s Arch, Wilson’s Arch, the Southern Steps of the Temple, the Eastern Gate , the Nikanor Gate and the Golden Gate, the Antonia Fortress, Herod’s Palace, the top of Mount Zion with the building that houses the Room of the Last Supper (the Upper Room) and the Tomb of King David on the floor below, the locations of Golgotha and the Garden Tomb, the Pool of Bethesda, the Sheep Gate, the Pool of Siloam, and modest and very large homes.

JERUSALEM: The PRISON where JESUS CHRIST was kept before CRUCIFIXION ????????
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit the magnificent Old City of Jerusalem and let's enter the “Prison of Christ” which is a Greek-Orthodox site along the Catholic “Via Dolorosa” and which claims to be the place where Jesus was imprisoned during his trial at the “Praetorium”. We are also going to visit the cells of the two thieves that were crucified next to Jesus as well as the cell of Barabbas whom Pontius Pilate freed at the Passover feast in Jerusalem, while keeping Jesus as a prisoner.
Jerusalem is a city in the Middle East, located on a plateau in the Judaean Mountains between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea. It is one of the oldest cities in the world, and is considered holy to the three major Abrahamic religions—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

A Mummy in Jerusalem Secrets of the Afterlife - The Israel Museum, Jerusalem
Location: Temporary Exhibition Gallery, Samuel and Saidye Bronfman, Archaeology Wing
Curator: Galit Bennett-Dahan
The focus of this exhibition is a 2,200-year-old Egyptian mummy displayed in its original coffin, alongside objects from various tombs typically used in Egyptian funerary rites until the rise of Christianity in Egypt in the fourth century CE. The mummy, the only one in Israel, was given to the Jerusalem Pontifical Biblical Institute in around 1930 in honor of its inauguration by the Jesuits in Alexandria (hence the mummy’s nickname “Alex”). It arrived in Jerusalem in an anthropoid coffin decorated with images of gods and inscriptions identifying Alex as a high-ranking priest from the Egyptian city of Akhmim.
The exhibition also includes a coffin containing an embalmed ibis, presented at the peace agreements of 1979 as a gift from President Anwar el-Sadat of Egypt to Yigael Yadin, then Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister.
Zahi Shaked A tour guide in Israel and his camera zahigo25@walla.com +972-54-6905522 tel סיור עם מורה הדרך ומדריך הטיולים צחי שקד 0546905522
My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.
