Geisha Experience with Japan Awaits
At one point there were 80,000 geisha in Japan. Now there are less than 1000. Please help us preserve the beautiful geisha culture! Please visit for private dinner performances by geisha and/or maiko (apprentice geisha). Kimono rental is also included! We want everyone to be able to experience the traditional Japanese culture and be able to have full conversation with geisha (which geisha are trained to be eloquent speakers and to be able to converse about any topic), which is why there is also an English translator/ host at the event. Special events, such as Cherry Blossom Festival (hanami) is also available for 2016! Hurry and book now to reserve a spot! Contact us at info@japanawaits.com for any questions!

Japan: Long-awaited 2020 Olympic mascots unveiled in Tokyo
Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe
The official mascots for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games was unveiled in the Japanese capital of Tokyo on Wednesday, before nearly 600 excited students.
The mascot was unveiled by the Tokyo 2020 organisers at a ceremony held in an elementary school in Tokyo's Shinagawa ward. The two mascots are based on futuristic superheroes, and were picked by school children across Japan.
The Olympic mascot is blue and white while the Paralympic mascot is pink and white. Both are chequered, doe-eyed and have pointy ears and ‘special powers’. The characters have not yet been named.

Like a Lady: Dining at the Swallowtail Butler Café - LIVE JAPAN
▶︎ ◀︎
It’s not a big secret that I am regularly strolling up and down Ikebukuro’s Otome Road on my weekends, the famous “female Akihabara”, as it is often called. In between manga and merchandise stores, there’s an almost inconspicuous staircase, decorated with overflowing flowers and greenery. Of course I’ve had heard about that place before: Swallowtail Butler Café. Friends had told me about it, too, rhapsodizing about the amazing experience that awaited inside. Having postponed a visit to this must-see location for so long, my turn has finally come – and why don’t you join me in this extraordinary trip to Japan’s take on Victorian England?

Students in Tokyo await Pope Francis' arrival
(26 Nov 2019) Students at Sophia University, Japan’s main Catholic university, awaited the arrival of Pope Francis to their campus on Tuesday.
The pontiff was wrapping up his Asia pilgrimage by speaking to students at the University.
He is our hope and our love of my life. And, he is our joy, said Karen Takahashi, a student at Sophia University.
Leo Ito, who studies theology at Sophia University, explained why Japanese people call him Papa-sama, the endearing and respective term used for the Pope.
We call him papa because he is so close to us, Ito said.
He spent Monday morning with the Jesuit community which is located right next to the campus.
As a young Jesuit in Argentina, Francis had dreamed of coming to Japan as a missionary, to follow the footsteps of Saint Francis Xavier, who introduced Christianity to Japan in the 16th century.
He was prevented because of health reasons.

Hidden Gems of Japan: Sado Island - Gold Digging Robots Await!
English subs available! Sado Island is located off the coast of Niigata Prefecture, being one of Japan's largest islands. We had the chance to visit the island and document our 2 day trip. Sadly we are only able to show you a fraction of Sado’s beauty. From gold mine robot workers to chopping firewood right in front of an awesome coastline, it was surely a crazy weekend. Check out our video to see why Sado Island is the perfect place to escape the busy city life of Tokyo.
