Charmouth Jurassic Coast | Fossil Hunting | Dorset, United Kingdom
Our camping holiday was not complete without fossil hunting at Charmouth Jurassic Coast in Dorset, United Kingdom. It is one of the safest place for fossil hunting.
Children did enjoy swimming in the cold sea and fossil hunting. It was a wonderful experience.
And if happens you can't find any fossils on the beach. You can purchase one at Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre.
If you plan to join fossil hunting walk, reservation is a must, online or over telephone.

Spectacular Jurassic Coast in Dorset, United Kingdom - Timelapse Video - 4K
Jurassic Coast, World Heritage Site, stretches from East Devon to Old Harry Rocks near Swanage in East Dorset, a distance of 96 miles (154 km). Truly stunning coastline with rocks recording 185 million years of the Earth's history. Jurrasic Coast gets it name thanks to the millions of years of history imprinted into the towering cliffs along the coastline. Even now you can still find pre-historic fossils while taking a stroll along the beach.
Some of iconic locations in this timelapse are :
* Durdle Door Sea Arch - attracts droves of photographers not just because of its dramatic location on the coast, but also the white-cliffs along these beaches make if by far the most beautiful all round location.
* Kimmeridge Bay - Locations where rocks stretch out into the water, and it’s one of the most popular spots to look for fossils on the beach thanks to the continual erosion of the cliffs
* Corfe Castle - fortification ruins standing above village of the same name, old defensive castle from Roman times - one of the most popular National Trust historic sights in the country

Walking Through Time Episode 3 Jurassic Coast
The Jurassic Coast needs no introduction, really. But I think you’d be hard pressed to find a more stunning shot of the Lulworth Crumple. I go from Kimmeridge Bay to Budleigh Salterton, investigating anoxia from local to global scales with Paul Wignall. I get to meet palaeontologist Simon Penn, who is rapidly becoming the heir to Steve Etches, and his gorgeous fossils. I have a cuppa with Kevan Sheehan, who discovered an incredibly complete giant Pliosaur skull at Osmington Mills (and had it named in honour of all the Kev’s in the world). Hillary Ketchum is my expert guide to that pliosaur. And Eliza Howlett and I have the most trowelblazer-tastic time talking Mary Anning and Eliza Philpott in Lyme Regis. And we have a bit of a Landmark Trust love in. Oh, and underwater robot vehicle REX returns, ably assisted by Adrian Glover and Leigh Marsh.

Durdle Door, Dorset is a natural limestone arch on the Jurassic Coast near Lulworth in Dorset, England. Eroded by time and nature, Durdle Door is one of Dorset’s most photographed and iconic landmarks. It is located on the Lulworth Estate in south Dorset part of the Jurassic Coast.
The magnificent natural limestone arch was formed when the power of the waves eroded the rock and forged a hole through the middle. The name Durdle is derived from an old English word ‘thirl’, which means to pierce, bore or drill.
As you look towards the sea, you will see Durdle Door beach on your right. Access to the pebble and shingle beach is on foot via a path and steps over the hill from Lulworth Cove or down from the Car Park (charges apply) which is located on the cliff top at Durdle Door Holiday Park. There is a coach drop-off at the car park, and coach parking is at Lulworth Cove (postcode for Sat Nav is BH20 5RQ).
My journey on the video starts at the Lulworth Cove car park and takes me over the hill on the foot path to Durdle Door. From a distance it doesn't look as steep - but don't be fooled - the climb is steep and can be difficult especially in flip flops! The views are amazing and it's delightful once you reach Durdle Door. An historical place everyone should visit!
???????? Charmouth, Jurassic Coast, England - UK TRAVEL VIDEO
The history of Charmouth dates back to the Iron Age when a Celtic tribe, the Durotriges, founded a settlement. Evidence of hill forts can still be seen in the area. The name Charmouth originated from the Saxon 'Cerne' meaning stony river, Charmouth was therefore known as 'Cernmunde'.

???????? Lyme Regis, Jurassic Coast, England - UK TRAVEL VIDEO
Lyme Regis /ˌlaɪmˈriːdʒɪs/ is a town in West Dorset, England, 25 miles (40 km) west of Dorchester and 25 miles (40 km) east of Exeter. Nicknamed The Pearl of Dorset, it lies at Lyme Bay on the English Channel coast at the Dorset–Devon border. It is noted for fossils found in cliffs and beaches that are part of the Heritage Coast – known commercially as the Jurassic Coast – a World Heritage Site. The harbour wall known as The Cobb appears in Jane Austen's novel Persuasion, in the John Fowles novel The French Lieutenant's Woman, and in the 1981 film of the same name, which was partly shot in Lyme Regis. Its former mayor and MP was Admiral Sir George Somers, who founded the English colonial settlement of the Somers Isles, now known as Bermuda. Lyme Regis is twinned with St George's, Bermuda. In July 2015 Lyme Regis also became tripled with Jamestown, Virginia, as the Historic Atlantic Triangle of Lyme, St George's and Jamestown. The 2011 Census gave the parish and electoral ward a population of 3,671.

Durdle Door | Jurassic Coast Dorset | May 2017 | ENGLAND
Lulworth Coastline has many fine beaches, Durdle door is one of the most beautiful beach in Dorset and one of our favourite in the UK. A famous natural arch and a beautiful secluded cove; their existence owed to the collision of continents and the birth of the Alps. World Heritage Site, a walk through time you have to visit.

Dorset Jurassic Coast - England - UNESCO World Heritage Site
The Jurassic Coast is a World Heritage Site on the English Channel coast of southern England. The site stretches from Orcombe Point near Exmouth in East Devon to Old Harry Rocks near Swanage in East Dorset, a distance of 153 kilometres (95 mi).[1] Chartered in 2001, the Jurassic coast was the second wholly-natural World Heritage Site to be designated in the United Kingdom. Its entire length can be walked on the South West Coast Path. The Jurassic Coast consists of Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous cliffs, spanning the Mesozoic Era, documenting 180 million years of geological history.
The site shows excellent examples of landforms, including the natural arch at Durdle Door, the cove and limestone folding at Lulworth Cove and an island, the Isle of Portland. Chesil Beach is a fine example of both a tombolo (a deposition landform in which an island is attached to the mainland by a narrow piece of land such as a spit or bar)and a storm beach (a beach affected by particularly fierce waves). The site has stretches of both concordant and discordant coastlines. Due to the quality of the varied geology, the site is the subject of international field studies. This area was home to Mary Anning, a palaeontologist who studied the fossils of the coastline around Lyme Regis and discovered the first complete Ichthyosaur fossil.
The highest point on the Jurassic Coast, and on the entire south coast of Britain, is Golden Cap at 191 metres (627 ft).
[edit] History
Lyme Bay
Landslip near Lyme Regis
Durdle Door
The Jurassic limestones on the Isle of Portland have been extensively quarried.
The site was featured on the television programme Seven Natural Wonders as one of the wonders of the South West (of the UK), and in a 2005 poll of Radio Times readers, the Jurassic Coast was named as the 5th greatest natural wonder in Britain.
During World War II several sections of the Jurassic Coast became property of the Ministry of War. One of the Royal Navy's largest bases was at Portland Harbour, though it has since closed. A major army base at Bovington remains in use today, and large areas of land, including the coast between Lulworth Cove and Kimmeridge, including Tyneham ghost village, are still only partially accessible. Areas of the coast near Exmouth, The Fleet at Weymouth and the beaches at Studland have also been used for training for war, but have since been returned to civilian use.
Stacks, such as Old Harry's Rocks at Handfast Point, are common along the coast.
Parts of the coast, especially around Portland, can be dangerous, and shipwrecks have been a feature of the coast. In January 2007 the coast experienced its most environmentally damaging wreck when the MSC Napoli, a 2,400 capacity container ship, was beached at Branscombe near Sidmouth, losing oil and cargo.[3]
On May 6 2008, a 400-metre (1,312 ft) section of the coast was destroyed after a landslip that was described as the worst in 100 years.[4]
