my experience with the kanab zipline
the kanab zipline was amazing. highly recommend if you're in the area. when you first get there, your heart will probably be pounding and your whole body will be shaking, but don't worry, that's normal. the first run is the biggest, longest, and scariest line, but it's also the most fun! if you get scared and decide not to do it, you will definitely regret it. i was super scared at first and i was thinking about not doing it, but when i stepped up to the edge i just told myself to go and i closed my eyes and jumped into the air! it's an amazing experience that you will love no matter what. the workers are friendly and helpful, and they are extra careful to make sure that you are safe and secured into your harness.

A new employee at the Kanab Zipline, a tourist attraction in southern Utah, died on Tuesday while assisting a rider.
Daniel Gilly, 54, who only started working for the Kanab resort on Monday, was in charge of helping zip line riders land securely, the Deseret News reported.
At around 11 a.m. a rider zipped down to the finish too fast and bounced back up the line. Gilly jumped onto the rider to try to secure him, but both were instead taken back by the momentum. Gilly went careening up the line unsecured while holding onto the rider but eventually lost his grip about 100 feet from the landing deck and fell to his death.
Witnesses performed CPR on Gilly but could not resuscitate him. The rider emerged from the incident was uninjured, but traumatized.”
Kanab Zipline general manager Justin Barnes told the Deseret News that the resort's employees were stunned by Gilly's death.
We have a 100 percent safety record,” he said. “Safety always comes first, so we are working with the authorities to investigate why this accident happened.”
The Kanab Zipline is 2,500 feet long and carries riders up to 350 feet in the air while reaching speeds of up to 35 miles per hour.

SJ4000 Zipline - Papakits Cebu - Fun Disaster
Papakits Cebu is a fun place to go to if you want to enjoy some outdoor sports. However, our visit was a little uncomfortable.
Despite reading safety slogans throughout the camp, there were some incidents. If you watch the video (1:30), you'll see that there was only one person to catch me and my brother at the other side. He caught me first, but didn't have enough time to react and catch my brother right after me. He ended up overshooting the landing, hurting his foot and almost fell through the stopper at the end.
When we got to the top of the tower going back to the mainland, we saw a woman stranded in the middle of the line. The scorching heat obviously burning her skin, he sat there for several minutes before they were able to reach her.
Overall, it was a fun experience. I would love to beat the wall-climbing challenge next time for a free zipline.

Go Ape zip-line death: Woman falls 40-feet from zipline and dies at Delaware park - TomoNews
BEAR, DELAWARE — Officials are investigating the death of a 59-year-old woman who died at a popular adventure park after falling from a zipline.
The unidentified 59-year-old was reportedly visiting the Go Ape adventure course in Lum Ponds State Park on Wednesday afternoon. She was riding one of the park’s ziplines when she fell some 40-feet to her death, WPVI-TV ABC Action News reported, citing police.
On its website, Go Ape says it gives patrons a 30-minute safety lesson before they venture into the park. During this time they teach visitors how to use equipment — including pulleys and harnesses — and other safety gear. After this visitors are left to enjoy the park by themselves, but instructors patrol the forest regularly.
Police are still investigating the circumstances of the woman’s death. WPVI-TV ABC Action News reports that paramedics performed CPR while traveling to a local hospital following the accident where she was later pronounced dead.

An Indian man who holds the Guinness World Record for covering the longest distance on a zip-line while hanging by his hair has died while performing a stunt.
Sailendra Nath Roy, a 49-year-old police officer, was attempting to cross the River Teesta in the state of West Bengal on Sunday on a 180m (594ft) wire above the water.
After attaching his shoulder-length hair to a pulley on the wire, Mr Roy had completed around half the distance but then became entangled and found himself unable to move.

Hundreds of spectators initially cheered him on, but then began screaming in horror when they saw he was making increasingly desperate attempts to move forward.
Senior police officer K Jayaraman said: Roy tried frantically to get hold of a second rope to reach the finishing point.
After several minutes, Mr Roy stopped moving and was eventually rescued. No ambulance or doctor was present during the stunt.
He was admitted to hospital in nearby Siliguri, but was declared dead by doctors after a suspected heart attack.

A post-mortem examination is expected to be completed later on Monday.
Mr Roy achieved the Guinness World Record after covering 82.5m (271ft) on a zip-line while attached by his hair in 2011 at the Neemrana Fort, a heritage hotel in the desert state of Rajasthan.
Last year he used his hair to drag a train and four coaches on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway.
His younger brother Benoy, who was witnessing his brother's stunt for the first time, said: We were proud of his bravery.
He was sure to win but destiny has taken his life and the most beloved member of our family as well.
