La Habana: Part III - Viñales
Everyone knows about Cuba’s world famous cigars. During my trip to La Habana, I took a day to travel to a one of a kind valley where farmers harvest endless fields of green tobacco that will eventually become those world renowned cigars. The Valle de Viñales. Viñales is located 2 and a half hours southwest of La Habana and has a lush landscape with fertile red soil and steep limestone cliffs called mogotes. There’s only 2 places in the world that feature these sharp cliff mountains, here in Cuba and in Southeast Asia. People have been growing tobacco in that valley for over 200 years and I was on my way there! Join me as I explore this truly special place.

Why Vinales Is Our Favourite Destination In Cuba | Travelvibes S1 E2
For my second travel in the Carribean, my girlfriend an I left our hotel in Havana and decided to head to a town in western Cuba. | Travelvibes S1 E2

We picked Vinales over Varadero based on local recommendation and we were really happy we made that choice.
Where I stayed:
There are +300 casa particular in Vinales. So if you're going there last minute, no worries. You'll find a place to stay! The town is safe and people are really nice. If you want to feel like a local stay at a casa particular. The casa particular we stayed at was Casa Noemie.
Food:
This is DEFINITELY not the best feature of Cuba but the food we found in Vinales was more descent than what we found in Havana. I was happy to get a chicken that wasn't fried but grilled in Vinales. After 4 days in Havana, it was like the best food I had in Cuba so far.
We had lunch at El Campesino Bar-restaurant ( Grilled Chicken )
We had breakfast and dinner at Casa Noemie
Both places served us a lot of food!
Activities:
- 5 hours horse ride: was provided by The Vinales Experience. Our tour guide Leo was great!!
-Saint Thomas Cave
-The mural prehistoric
-The Indian Cave

Tobacco Heaven in Vinales | Cuba Part 1
We recently went to Cuba, and this is the 1st of a 4 part series of our adventure in Cuba. In this part we traveled to Vinales, where we stayed for 4 days and in the video we share with you some tips we gathered while we were there.
Let us know if you have any questions about our trip to Vinales.
All our accommodation was booked via Airbnb. We found it rather helpful via airbnb as we were able to easily communicate with the host (with the help of google translated build in to Airbnb, since we cannot speak spanish at all.)
Here is a link of an affiliate link to Airbnb if you are interested to book for your first time.

Travlin' Round Cuba With Harry
We took a photo tour around Cuba with Harry Fisch , a Spaniard who knows and loves Cuba and just happens to be a very good shooter...especially shadows and mood. Harry had organised a few set up such as ballerinas, cowboys, fire blower and a Santaria Orisha ceremony...there was much to click and much to learn. We we were there the day Fidel passed away. Historic. This video really should have voice over and I may get around to do that. Meantime it's not a bad look at Havana, Vinales and Trinidad activities. Cuba without Harry is like a Cuban without a cigar.
E194: Riding horses into Petra, Jordan a 10,000 year old hidden city carved in stone.
Riding horses into Petra Jordan is an epic way to enter a city carved in stone. The same city used in the Indiana Jones movie, The Last Crusade. A bonus to anyone who knows why the sword is split at the end. We tried to figure it out.

The dawn of a new tourism boom in Cuba
The most visible change in Havana since Cuba and the United States restored diplomatic relations is the number of Americans who have come to see the island for themselves.
160 thousand U.S. residents flew to Cuba in 2015. That's an 80 percent jump from the year before. There’s been a mix of politicians, corporate executives, artists and athletes all coming to build bridges and look for business opportunities. But mostly it’s the just plain curious.
For the first time in more than 50 years an American cruise ship sailed from Miami to Havana. On May 1st the Adonia stopped in Havana carrying over 700 passengers.
And as Correspondent Michael Voss reports, an increasing numbers of U.S. tourists are starting to travel outside of the capital as well. To places like the valley of Vinales – a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Check out this report from Michael Voss for “Americas Now.”

Real Cuba: countryside house
In Cuba you can find many abandoned and destroyed building and houses, in this video you will see a countryside house. This is the real Cuba, the one most tourist don't see or are not interested in knowing...
Cuba | Zapata Swamp
Every year, the seasonal rains flood the Zapata swamp.
The inland lagoons multiply and the birds arrive to nest, the migratory species joining the local ones.
This is a time of abundance, and the mangrove forest comes to life with the movement of the many different species searching for food. Humming birds and orioles fly among the flowers looking for nectars and insects, while in the open, recently-flooded areas, there is a veritable explosion of life.
Millions of small invertebrates proliferate among the floating vegetation. The larvae attract the fish, and these the egrets, cormorants and storks.
With the rains, in the water millions of mosquitoes are born. But the majority of them never reach adulthood, as they are trapped by the specialists walking across the water-lilies and aquatic plants.
The long toes of the jacanas enable them to reach anywhere where there is a floating plant. Light and precise, they lift up the vegetation and catch the invertebrates that live below.
The American purple gallinule also uses this same technique, though in this case instead of an invertebrate it is going to find a surprise.
With the increase in available fish, the double-crested cormorants get ready to breed. These cormorants are normally migratory, but the subspecies floridanus, which lives in southern Florida and the Cuban archipelago, has become sedentary, perhaps because of the year-round abundance of the mangrove forests.
During the mating season, the double-crested cormorants gather in colonies which can contain thousands of couples, and build their nests on the ground or in the branches of the different trees of the swamp.
he need to find a mate, and the concentration of so many cormorants in the areas chosen to build the nests mean there are sometimes fights between neighbours, but these never go further than frantic beating of wings and a shriek or two.
On this occasion, the dispute is soon over. Their splashing around has attracted dark shadows beneath the water, and the cormorants have learnt to respect the sharks that swim into the estuaries.
A manatee is exploring the newly-flooded areas in search of weeds and pasture to calm its insatiable appetite.
Propelled forward by its rear extremities converted into a wide, flat fin, the manatee advances, escorted by a permanent army of fish that feed on the sediment stirred up by the mammal, and the algae and parasites that cover its body.
Every day, a manatee must eat vegetable matter equivalent to one tenth its body weight, that is, between 40 and 70 kilos, the equivalent of eating 200 lettuces a day.
Its incessant feeding activity is good for the mangrove forest because it clears the water channels, which otherwise would be overrun by vegetation in just a few months.
These peaceful sirenias spend their lives in the water, periodically coming out to breathe. It was during one of these pauses for breath that in 1492 Christopher Columbus spotted them – the first ever mention of the species – and confused them with the mermaids described by Herodotus. Today, the mermaids are disappearing. In the entire West Indies, including Cuba, there remain no more than 2,500. And, unfortunately, each year this number falls further.
The Cuban mangrove forest is still an unknown world concealing biological mysteries and treasures which will astonish the world; a forgotten paradise ruled over by an impenetrable hell of marshy labyrinths, myriads of mosquitoes and dangerous crocodiles.
Science has not yet studied the complexity of its creatures and the balance of its ecosystems. And that is part of the charm of the Cuban mangrove forest, knowing that it remains exactly as it always has been, impenetrable, solitary, virgin. It is such a complex world that virtually nothing is known about it. And nonetheless, all its strength and complexity, all its biodiversity and richness, are due to tiny, intrepid travellers that still today, faithful to their spirit, continue to set out on anonymous journeys, crossing the sea and sowing the seeds of paradise.

We arrived in Havana not knowing what we were in for. What followed was the impossible challenge of withdrawing from an ATM, not knowing what the difference between CUC or CUP was and trying to understand our drunken old Casa Particular owner.
Ended up drinking Mojitos at El Dandy.

23 Places You DIDN'T KNOW Existed
We know all the famous landmarks in places like Paris, New York, the Amazon Rainforest, and the Sahara Desert--but the world is so much bigger than that. Let’s talk about all the places that you might’ve not even known were real.

8. The Door To Hell
Even if some of you don’t believe a place like hell really exists, we can at least tell you that a place called the Door To Hell is actually real. Door To Hello is the colloquial name for the Darvaza gas crater located in Turkmenistan. It measures to an area of 5,350 meters squared, now a rather big tourist attraction. The natural gas field was lit aflame during the 70s as a way to keep dangerous gases from flowing into nearby towns. It’s been burning ever since.
7. Schwerin Palace
In the northeastern region of Germany is the city of Schwerin, the capital of its state as as well as the second largest city there. Lakes enclose the city, making it appear as some sort of hidden land amongst the water. A notable landmark includes the Schwerin Palace, which looks more like a Disney castle than a real one. The palatial schloss sits on Lake Schwerin, dating all the way back to 973 AD.
6. Viñales Valley
When you think about it, how much do you really know about the geology of Cuba? Politics and history for sure, but the look of the landscape? For most people, probably not much. So here’s a few things to learn if you didn’t know already: let’s take a look at the Vinales Valley, a karstic depression that’s famous for growing tobacco and a variety of other crops while surrounded the Sierra de los Organos mountains.
5. Lake Retba
The salt content measured at Lake Retba reaches up to 40%, so here, you know you can float. Lake Retba, also called Lac Rose, formed just north of the Cap Vert peninsula in Senegal. The Dunaliella salina algae is what makes the waters here so pink, as if someone split pink lemonade into the water source. The algae develops this sort of red pigment to help it absorb light. Mix that with the water, and it looks pink. Dunes divide the lake from the Atlantic Ocean. A lot of people boat on this lake and fisherman even use the salt to preserve fish.
4. Saint Michel D’Aiguilhe
What’s different about this French chapel? It’s a French chapen close to the sky, that’s what. The Saint Michel D’Aiguilhe chapel was built sometime in 969 right over--get this--a volcanic plug. It’s also been said that Joan of Arc’s mother, Isabelle Romee would come to this area to pray. If she really did, then that means she climbed those 268 steps that were carved into the rock a lot of times. It sights about 279 feet high or 85 meters and was constructed as a tribute to the pilgrimage of Saint James.
3. Sagano Bamboo Forest
Right near the outskirts of Kyoto, Japan is a forest that looks out of this world. We may not think much of bamboo but if the Sagano Forest proves anything, there’s a lot to bamboo to think of. You can walk through the man-made path carved into the forest, which often gets packed with tourists. When it gets slightly windy, the bamboo wood knocks against each other, creating a wholly unique sound.
2. Atlantis
“That’s a fictional place!” someone cries. Well, kind of. The legend of Atlantis is just that, a legend--one that tells of an ancient city that has sunken into the sea, seemingly lost. Plato mentions the island in Timaeus and Critias, but was this place really…real? Not too long ago, archaeologists discovered the remains of Heracleion, a city that sunk into the Abu Qir Bay. It was once Crete’s largest city, leaving behind monuments, coins, and other structures that show just a glimpse of what this ancient Egyptian city must have been like.

About Us!
If you had told me a year ago that we were going to sell all of our stuff to start backpacking the world, I would have called you a liar. Decisions like the one we made start with an inflection point. A point where you realize that life can never be the same anymore. After a challenging, and painful year in 2017, we decided we needed to go out and live the life we wanted to live, instead of watching it on someone else’s YouTube Channel. We had given everything we had, physically and emotionally, for other’s dreams and were ready to work that hard for ourselves. From rock bottom, Chase for Adventure was born.
The Chase Begins
We moved in with our parents, sold everything we own including our cars, and paid off $70,000 worth of debt. We worked 70hrs/week over the last year trying to save up $15,000 to make our dreams come true. Now, we are travel journalists who showcase the beauty in different cultures and inspire others to chase their dreams through our YouTube Channel and website Chase for Adventure. We want to show others that if they want something bad enough, they’ll figure out how to get it; show people who are struggling that they can make the light at the end of their tunnel. Chase for Adventure is more than just a travel vlog and blog; it’s the chronicles of what it’s like to have a dream and do whatever it takes to attain it.

ABOUT MY [POV] VIDEOS (please read)
The way I film my POV videos is that I strap a GoPro on my forehead in a fully visible manner. The reason I do so is because I want to ensure that the person being filmed 100% knows that I am filming them. I always want to be fully transparent and ensure that they consent to being filmed.
In certain videos, you may notice that I blur the person's face. I do so out of respect if I judge that the person might have been too intoxicated to be aware of the camera, or if the person explicitly told me that they do not want their faces to be shown on the internet.
Contrary to other PUAs or pickup-artists, I am fully against hidden camera infield as I believe these can cause a privacy issue. This is when PUAs hide a camera behind a bush somewhere and film themselves interacting with a woman without the woman knowing, without her consent. Also, they aren't the most ethical thing to do out there, let's be honest... especially when you publish it on the internet afterwards.
That's why I film the way I do.
And I do these videos simply because I love to. The purpose is purely artistic.
If you are inspired to do what I do, to go out there, break out of your shell and interact with other people, that's awesome! Though, ALWAYS remember that NO means NO, and that consent is everything. Game from a place of honesty and transparency, not from a place of manipulation or lying. Be a good person, and bring joy into other people's lives.
***If you appeared in this video by accident and wish me to take down this video, please email me at support@johnknameless.com and I will take down the video immediately.***
Cheers!
