The most incredible time spent on Fraser Island. I would have to say the people that we met along the way will be ever lasting friends forever. The memories we had exploring the beaches and drinking till late hours of the night. Such a fun and amazing time!! Life is all about adventures and exploring and Fraser Island Tour 4x4 has it all. Lake McKenzie is maybe the most famous Lake in Fraser Island, and for a good reason. Clear blue water, white sand beaches and green forests around you? Lake McKenzie will not disappoint you.
The road to Lake McKenzie is a bit rough, and you need a decent 4x4 to get around, but once you got that set, head out! Since it's so popular, Lake McKenzie is best visited early in the morning or late in the afternoon - don't want to be caught up with everybody else, will you? :D

Day 1 of our long awaited Fraser Island journey, the worlds largest sand island.
Our first stop had to be none other than Lake Mckenzie, this place has been a bucket list of mine for such a long time and being able to take our new car there was such a dream come true, K'gari met all expectations. Lake McKenzie (Boorangoora) is a perched lake on Fraser Island in Queensland, Australia. The lake is located in the Great Sandy National Park.
The lake is located 6.2 km southeast of Kingfisher Resort. It is 1,200 metres long and up to 930 metres wide. It is approximately 150 hectares in area.
The sands around the lake are composed of pure, white silica and the water in the lake is also so pure it is unsuitable for many species.

In January 2016, Angela and I traveled from Sydney NSW to Fraser Island in QLD for the dream 4WD Island Holiday!
In Part 5 we explore the popular Lake Mckenzie. With perfectly clear fresh water, and fed only by rain water, the lake is the most visited site on Fraser Island. Take a snorkel and mask and enjoy the pristine water, but watch out for Dingoes at the carpark!

A beautiful day at Lake McKenzie on Fraser Island. A freshwater lake on the largest sand island in the world. Lake McKenzie is a perched lake sitting on top of compact wet sand that is nearly pure silica. Although surrounded by rain forest, the lakes have very few nutrients and pH varies, though sunscreen and soaps are a problem as a form of pollution so it is recommended SWIMMERS AVOID using SOAPS and SUNSCREEN whilst swimming in Lake McKenzie. The fresh water in the lake is crystal blue because of the Blackbutt forests and exagurated because of the white silica sand. - 4WD HIRE - SELF DRIVE - RAINBOW BEACH TO FRASER ISLAND

Fraser Island ich komme :D nach einer weiteren Einweisung ging es los, V8 SUV und ab Richtung Sand ;D. Erster Stop auf der Insel, Lake McKenzie. Super klarer Süßwassersee. Baden und entspannen stand auf dem Plan. Anschließend haben wir noch ein Schiffswrack am Strand gesehen. Den Abend haben wir mit einer Dünenwanderung beendet, eine wahnsinnige Aussicht über die Insel. Wer in Australien (Australia) in Queensland reist, für den sollte das ein Muss sein.
