Time Travel to Old Marin (trailer)
Between 1970 and 1980, film students from San Rafael and Terra Linda High Schools produced or restored over a dozen films showing historic aspects of Marin County and San Francisco from the early 20th century to the mid-1970s.
Under the direction of teacher David Swingle, old motion pictures and stills were collected and re-mastered by the high school students as new 16mm prints which in turn were used as source materials for the creation of local history documentaries, many of which premiered in 1976 during Marin County’s celebration of the Bicentennial of the American Revolution.
All of these films and their related raw footage have been restored, digitized and re-mastered by Karl and David Swingle of Centennial Films. Through the generosity of Centennial Films and with additional funding provided by Marin philanthropist Jeff Craemer, this important historic film archive and its copyright has been donated to the Marin County Free Library’s Anne T. Kent California Room.
Nine of these films are now available to the public through the Library's catalog and we invite you to check them out:

Spectacular, extremely rare tropical oasis half acre point lot, deep water on both sides! Possibly the nicest waterfront lot in the area, views straight up the water way over a sparkling pebble tec pool and spa, surrounded by palms and flagstone patios. Dock is one of the biggest I've seen, 90 ft. Top floor is entirely a master suite big enough to be its own house, with fireplace, enormous multiple closets and bath. Views of water and hills for days.

Centrally located in Marin County is the small village of Nicasio. The
town center has a post office, a general store, a tiny real estate
office, a historical Society building, St. Mary’s Church (established
in 1867), Nicasio Volunteer Fire Department, a baseball field located
in the town square, Rancho Nicasio, which is a bar/restaurant/live
music establishment, a Druid's Hall, as well as a number of private
homes. The town was founded in the early 19th century to support local
agricultural, timber, and fishing activities. The town once boasted
the twenty-two room Hotel Nicasio, which opened in 1867 but burned
down in December 1940. Just north of town on Nicasio Valley Road is a
beautiful red-roofed one-room schoolhouse that opened in 1871. The
building is currently a listed historical landmark. The Nicasio post
office opened in 1871, closed in 1899, and re-opened in 1900. Town
population is about 95.
Coordinates: 38°03′42″N 122°41′55″W
The most significant non-agricultural business within Nicasio is
George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch, a part of Lucasfilm Ltd.- Disney.
Population estimates for the area range from about 600 to about 900
people.
In 2008 Dewey Livingston wrote a detailed history of the region,
Nicasio: The Historic Valley at the Center of Marin.
Moves:
- The People (1972), made-for-TV movie starring William Shatner.
Locations include St. Mary's Church and the town square.
-Shoot the Moon (1982), starring Albert Finney and Diane Keaton.
- Village of the Damned (1995), locations including Nicasio School and
homes and regions in Nicasio.
- Touching Home 2010 a film about the Miller twins (former baseball
players from Fairfax) who are the writers/directors/actors.Locations

Nicasio Reservoir
It covers 845 acres and sits in a 35.9 square miles of drainage basin.
It was created by the construction of Seeger Dam on the Nicasio Creek
in 1961. The dam is a 115-foot tall, 400-foot long earthen dam owned
by the Marin Municipal Water District. During drought years the old
roadwaty can be seen entering the reservoir on the southern point.

17 minute drive through Marin County along HWY 1 (gopro hero 3 test)
A few friends and I decided to set out in search of some surf north of San Francisco. We mounted a gorpo (hero 3 black edition) to the hood of the car and recorded the journey. This video highlights roughly 17 minutes along the historic and majestic Pacific Coast Highway or HWY 1. I opted not to include an audio track. Feel free to play your own music concurrently or turn on the radio for that in car experience. Watch a few minutes or watch the entire video. Last stop Stinson Beach.
The PCH stretches nearly the entire California coastline and depending on what stretch your on it's called the PCH, the Great Highway, Cabrillo Highway, Shoreline Highway, or Coast Highway. It's all the same CA state route 1. It's a beautiful drive and this portion, through Marin County, is particularly picturesque. This was shot on a sunny winter day. The hillsides are green and the clouds in the sky are quite nice. Keep your eyes peeled for California Condors, cyclists, hikers and the quintessential coastline.
This video is primarily a test video but it was so beautiful that I had to post it

U.S. Route 101 (US 101) in the state of California is one of the last remaining and longest U.S. Routes still active in the state, and the longest highway of any kind in California. US 101 was also one of the original national routes established in 1926. Significant portions of US 101 between the Los Angeles area and the San Francisco Bay Area follow El Camino Real, the historic road connecting the former Alta California's 21 missions.
