3 Trains in 10 Minutes at West Medford! 12/28/16
With a heads up that Pan Am Railways train LOSA was through Billerica, and since a friend and I were in the Boston area, we headed over to West Medford to catch it. LOSA consists of all low gondolas, empty when running from Lowell to the casino site in Everett. In Everett, contaminated dirt is loaded into the gondolas, and then runs north as SALO to Lowell. The contaminated dirt is then shipped out west via CSX. Anyway, we pulled up as Amtrak was passing, so no video of that. Keolis 315 showed up two minutes after we got there, and LOSA came around a few minutes after 315. Before we could leave, another headlight popped around the corner. This was an MBTA extra with just a normal set headed to Haverhill. Thanks for watching and enjoy!

Rogue Valley Mall Carnival 2019
Owned and operated by Pat and Geraldine Davis, Davis Shows NW, Inc., is a family oriented traveling carnival. Pat’s parents, Mannie & Melba Davis opened Davis Amusement Company back in 1950 and passed on the family tradition of providing quality rides and games in a carnival atmosphere to their children.
At Davis Shows NW, we take great pride in providing safe family oriented rides, games, and quality food concessions throughout the season. As a traveling amusement company, we are able to offer our family friendly carnival experience at fair grounds, shopping centers, and other prime locations in the Pacific Northwest.
Every year from March through September we bring our show to multiple destinations all over Washington and Oregon. We also service some locations in Nevada and Idaho.
The above information was copied from Davis Shows NW website. I don't know how long the carnival has taken place in the parking lot of the Rogue Valley Mall but I have been attending them since 2015. I enjoy it as an adult because its like having a taste of summer in April, a time of year that can be unseasonably warm but its usually cool out and it tends to rain. Summer in Oregon these days means suffering the unbearable July heat coupled with ugly smoke produced by various wildfires that plague the entire Pacific Northwest during the hottest and driest months of the year.
I also can't resist the guilty pleasure of cotton candy and caramel apples. Plus, at night the carnival lights look awesome. Its like having our own little Las Vegas right here in Medford!
Following tradition, I always get a Double-Double from In-N-Out after I visit the carnival. Just think, back in April of 2015 In-N-Out was just starting construction of their first restaurant in Oregon. Time sure does fly.

MEDFORD OREGON PEAR BLOSSOM FESTIVAL 2013
MEDFORD OREGON PEAR BLOSSOM FESTIVAL 2013
This year the main location of the Pear Blossom festival is around the Lithia Motors Commons Park area. The 2013 Pear Blossom Festival event is videoed for YouTube by Bill Keefer, marketing professional and owner of MlsProVideos.com and OregonBusinessPro.com This Pear Blossom is a true Festival.
The featured Jazz band is
The Pear Blossom Parade has grown from 20 wagons and youngsters in the first event to today's 150 entries with 4000 participants and 25-30,000 enthusiasts lining the parade route. The Pear Blossom is a pillar in our community emphasizing family values, commitment and pride in our Rogue Valley. Scholarships for area high school senior girls have been a hallmark of the Festival Association since 1991.
In 1954, representatives of several Medford groups (including the Fruit Grower's League, Chamber of Commerce, Merchants Association, American Legion and the school district) met to initiate an event during the spring blossom season. They decided to have a children's' parade. A five-year-old, Miss Blossom, was chosen to reign over the 10 floats.
There were 100 floats in the parade by 1956, and the festival included a 30-mile tour of the valley's blooming orchards. Since 1957, children have been chosen festival King and Queen. Motorized floats were allowed in the parade in 1964. Pear Blossom Festival parade marshals have included Governor Holmes (1957), John F. Kennedy (1960), and Frank Shorter (1977) who led over 650 participants in the festival's first annual mini-marathon.
Current parade entrants number over 150 with over 5,000 participants. The festival now includes a number of other activities besides the parade; A baby contest, Junior Royalty Pageant, Senior Royalty Scholarship Pageant, the Run, a Street Fair and a Stamp Show.
We are excited to announce that our new home will be in the Commons Park Blocks. The planning efforts have included the Heart of Medford Association, City of Medford, Parks and Recreation and Lithia Motors. This exciting new footprint will be our permanent location. This new venue offers us room to grow, added electricity for vendors and patrons, smoother load in -- load out for vendors, reduced disruption to local business and traffic as well as added safety features for pedestrian traffic.
