Lough Erne County Fermanagh; NI Second Biggest Lake System-Irish Fishing - Enniskillen Fermanagh
These views of Lough Erne, county Fermanagh! Yes, they took our breath away as well, just the same way they did with you right now! A place in the town of Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, that you should add right now on your list of places to visit in Ireland.
Lough Erne is the name given to the two connecting lakes in county Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. Lough Erne is considered the second biggest lake in Northern Ireland and Ulster and it is considered the fourth biggest in Ireland as a whole - which pushed us to reach this place, get introduced to its beauty, and see how magnificent it is.
The smaller southern lake is known as the Upper Lough as it is higher up the river, while the bigger northern lake is called the Lower Lough or Broad Lough. Lough Erne is found on the town of Enniskillen which is placed on the short stretch of river between the two lakes.
For us, this is considered the perfect place for nature due to the idea behind Lough Erne being the place where the two lakes meet, and also for being a place where different islands along with many coves and inlets are found; just as you can see through the video, it is a perfect description for nature.
Enniskillen town, where the Lough Erne is located, is a civil parish in county Fermanagh and it is located exactly in the center of the county where the upper and lower parts of Lough Erne lake are found. Everything has a story behind and the name of this town is believed to carry a story for it as well; it is believed that the name originally came from Cethlenn who was wounded in battle by an arrow and attempted to swim across the River Erne but never made it, and thus the place was named after her, since it comes from the Irish name Inis Ceithleann.
Visiting this place, Lough Erne, will give you the chance to see some of the other landmarks which are found in the town of Enniskillen, such as the Enniskillen Castle which is considered the oldest building in the place. It is not just about the castle, but Enniskillen is the place where the British Army regiments were found. This is considered a place with rich history and there are lots of hidden stories and gems that this name still carries.
To complete your trip in Enniskillen, there are some other suggestions which we will provide you with to visit as much historical and natural places as possible. In addition to the castle, you could also visit the Inniskillings Museum, the Castle Coole, the Monea Castle, the Coles Monument, the Portora Castle, the Tully Castle, the Florence Court, as well as other things simpler than those which you could also come across.
If you are staying at Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland, during your visit but you are heading to Lough Erne in Enniskillen town to check this magical place in county Fermanagh, you could actually make a day trip there because it does not take so long; there are different routes and the longest of them will get you there in about two hours and twenty minutes in total, which is considered reasonable for a day trip and enjoying a couple of things to see in Enniskillen.
For those who are not willing to consider this a day trip, they could then search for the resorts or hotels which they could book at in order to enjoy their stay. One of the places which we suggest is the Lough Erne resort, which is sometimes referred to as Enniskillen Hotel, where there are different outdoor activities that one could get the chance to be part of in order to enjoy the fresh air of this place, such as going to the Lough Navar Forest, visiting the Crom Estate, going to Castle Archdale, or else visiting the Cuilcagh Mountain - these come in addition to the ones we have already mentioned above.
Connolly Cove is the place where we bring different recommendations and suggestions for those who enjoy visiting several places in the countries they are going to visit; not just the famous landmarks, but those beautiful ones which might not be gaining the same amount of tourists and visitors. This channel is mainly focused on Ireland and Northern Ireland, but we have been working hard to expand and reach different other countries around the world.
There are lots of things to be seen and visited in Northern Ireland ( there are also a lot of attractions that one could visit in Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland ( you could enjoy the hop-on hop-off tour if you are visiting Dublin, Ireland ( and you could also enjoy seeing the location for filming The Game of Thrones which also happens to be in Ireland (
Tell us more about your journey to the Lough Erne, County Fermanagh, the town of Enniskillen, and share with us the places you have visited, the activities you have done there, and the amount of days you stayed there; tell us more about your trip to see this place in Ireland.

Finn Lough Resort - Bubble Dome/Tent Room - Enniskillen
What an amazing place - this is a view from inside an inflatable Bubble Dome Room in the Finn Lough Resort in Co. Fermanagh. Yes, the rain falls on the covering... an amazing experience!!! :-)
Finn Lough Resort in Enniskillen County Fermanagh - well beside it - it is also close to the Donegal border. It has an excellent restaurant, but the crown jewels are definitely the inflatable bubble tents in the forest. The resort calls them Bubble Domes - but either way - an amazing place to stay!!
Enniskillen is known as a small town and civil parish that is located in county Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. This town is located in the centre of co. Fermanagh between the upper and the lower sections of Lough Erne. There are different places for one to visit in Enniskillen that might end up being of any interest to you - we have been to some of them and we enjoyed what we have seen.
Those different places which we have visited before include the Enniskillen Castle and the museum that is attached to it ( there is also the Devenish Island, Castle Coole, Cole's Monument, Monea Castle, Portora Castle, Portora Gates, the Pollnagollum Cave ( the famous Headhunters Barber Shop and Railway Museum ( the Conagher Forest ( as well as Lough Erne (
It might always differ from one person to another when it comes to the places that one could visit in a specific town or city and those which he/she might come across, the famous ones are those which all the people tend to know about when it comes to a specific place they are going to visit, all the other ones will be discovered during the trip.
One of the places we have laid our hands on and discovered was the Bubble Dome in Finn Lough Resort which we immediately fell in love with its idea and loved staying at - the view from this bubble is different, it is not about getting out on the balcony to see the view, but you will get that natural view while laying down on your bed.
The Bubble Dome which is located in the forest and which is sometimes referred to as the Forest Dome because it is designed in a bubble like form features 180 transparent walls that allow the residents to enjoy and witness the beauty of nature all day long without having to come outside the room. We believe that this place is considered the perfect romantic escape for those couple who want to leave the noise of the city behind even for just the weekend - it is really a mesmerizing place that is worth the visit.
Isn't it a nice idea to go and have your weekend at a place that is away from all the noise of the city, located in the middle of nature, where you could get the chance to wake up day and night with the stars shining in front of your eyes and the limitless sky welcoming you? This is exactly what the Finn Lough Resort could offer with its accommodation option that is all about the Bubble Dome or Tent.
In addition to the whole experience of staying at this resort and place, we have to mention that it is also a good choice for all those photographers out there who want to bring out different photos and show them to the world - there is also a telescope kept in every single dome which people could enjoy looking up at the sky through and which help in making the whole experience a lot more different as well.
This is considered one of the best places we have been to and one of the different experiences we have ever witnessed because there aren't lots of those similar rooms which offer the same feature of that panoramic view found around the world - it is also a suitable place for those coming to visit Enniskillen in Northern Ireland and want to stay in a different kind of hotel so that they could enjoy visiting cultural places in the ordinary days and at the same time get that different kind of experience during the night.
There are lots of different places which one could experience in every single country one will be visiting according to the things one will manage to explore and the effort exerted in walking around the city and doing the right search on the internet - one of the good ways for those living in Northern Ireland already (just like us, Irish people :-)) to explore the new places that keep appearing around their country.
Finn Lough Resort is actually worth the visit and we have brought this 360 degree video to give you all the chance to experience the whole thing as if you were there - there are different accommodation options in Finn Lough Resort that you could choose from if you are not much into the idea of sleeping in a panoramic view tent that will be exposing you to the outside world.

Conagher Forest Fermanagh, Northern Ireland
An amazing view point over Co. Fermanagh - not to be missed! A great forest area - one of the best forests we have visited in Northern Ireland. Does not seem to be well marked on the maps - so the locals know of it - but not many more - good for us!! :-) We filmed a short 360 degree video of the location. If you enjoy walks in forests around Northern Ireland or Ireland - this is one to add to the list.
This 1,060 hectare forest is part of the West Fermanagh Upland group of forests that stretches from Lough MacNean to the shores of Lough Erne below the Magho cliffs in Lough Navar. Covers an area of over 8,500 hectares and is the largest continuous forest in Northern Ireland. This is predominantly a coniferous forest with large open bogland tracts and wooded gullies.
The Correll Glen Nature Reserve lies to the north western edge of this forest and a waymarked trail takes the visitor in to this important example of a remnant upland oakwood. Next to this along the Glenasheever Road is a native woodland restoration site.
Almost like all those who might have been there, we were mesmerized by the view and fell in love with it - we could actually sit in the same spot with a cup of tea and stare for the rest of our lives - and what got us also excited about the place with its view is that we knew about the possibility of making events in the area; sports, educational, etc. and this will give people a very good chance to create different events in the place.
There are different forest walks in this area which visitors could use - we decided to take one of them and enjoy walking between all those trees - but it is always important to check and keep your eyes open to the signage because some of these parts of the forests might have restrictions to people coming or walking into them at specific times due to some forest operations.
This place is mainly for those who are interested in woods and love to walk such passages - they are not for those who get tired easily or might get a little bit scared :-) - and for those, there are still some other wood places' suggestions near Conagher Forest which they could try, such as Lough Navar Forest, the Big Dog Forest, and Sillees Forest - Tullycarbry Wood which are all found in county Fermanagh as well.
This forest is included in the UNESCO Marble Arch Global Geopark.
The Marble Arch Caves National Geopark which the Conagher Forest became part of contains some of the finest landscapes in the north of Ireland that range from rugged uplands, lakes and forests to gently rolling drumlins. The landscapes of the Geopark represent a complex Earth History dating back as far as 650 million years ago.
Generally speaking, a Global Geopark is known to be a region with geological heritage of international significance where that heritage is being used to support the local communities through sustainable tourism and what makes Geoparks different is that they help the economy by attracting visitors to the area and thus creating jobs and businesses. The geological heritage of that place in the Global Geopark might be significant for any reason that is different than the other; one place might be significant for its educational value, another might be for its scientific value, a third might be for its beauty and nature, etc.
For us, we appreciate nature to a great extent and love those scenes like the ones we were faced with in Conagher Forest - especially because it is not much known and thus we will be informing lots of people about it.
Since we were in County Fermanagh where the forest is located, there are some other beautiful attractions that one could pass by but which are not all related to forests and woods, such as the Enniskillen Castle Museum ( Lough Erne ( Finn Lough Resort ( as well as the Pollnagollum Cave ( which we could place under the nature parts of Northern Ireland that people could definitely visit while being in County Fermanagh.
For those who might not know much about Northern Ireland: County Fermanagh is one of the six different counties that are found in Northern Ireland and Enniskillen is the county town of it by being the largest in both, population as well as size. County Fermanagh also happens to be part of the historic province of Ulster. Conagher Forest as well as those other wood places which we have mentioned along with the attractions that one could visit near them, are all placed and located in County Fermanagh.
If you are into nature, love such beautiful scenes, and enjoy walking within woods and forests then Conagher Forest in County Fermanagh should be a new place to add to your list, a place you will definitely enjoy.
