Another ski day, this time we try to go together to Skiing in Mont Fort, Verbier, Switzerland. This black run, actually never get groomed by the snowcat all winter long, so there is a lot of bumps in this slope! Check it out on my video above!
150 km/h on powderskis on le Mont Fort | 4 vallées / Verbier / Switserland
This is a video where i reached 150 km/h on Le Mont Fort in 4 vallées in Switzerland.
I had multiple tries before i reached 150 and this was around the tenth attempt. I improved my speed by starting higher on the slope and by trying it early in the morning because the piste was much flatter and harder because it hadn't started warming up yet.
Before i went i always made absolutely sure that there was no one else on the slope that i wouldn't be able to see or dodge.

Off-piste skiing in 4 Vallées: Mont Fort Backside
Off-piste skiing down the backside of the Mont Fort (3228m) to Siviez (1730m) via Lac du Grand Désert and Lac de Cleuson on March 13th 2013.
There was moderate avalanche risk (Level 2 of 5) on that day. The snow layers were well bonded and there was no fresh or windblown drifting snow. Temperatures were very low too, after a warmer week before, so that there was no risk of wet snow avalanches. Wet snow avalanches can be a big risk in the spring, especially near the Lac de Cleuson. The snow on the steep slopes was already mashed up by a lot of other skiers, so that there was minimal risk of weak snow layers on our path down.
Don't do that run, if you have no avalanche and mountain experience. You also have to be a very good skier, because there are really steep parts.

Derde dag van ons skiverlof. Eindelijk volop zon en een staalblauwen hemel. Ik kreeg zelfs 15 procent korting op mijnen skipas...als ik het nog 15 jaar volhoud mag ik gratis. Dat zal dan wel met peestokken zijn. Ik geraak nu al niet meer terug rechtop...
Van Nendaz naar Verbier. Niet simpel en nog minder de terugweg.
Het letterlijk hoogtepunt is de Mont Fort (3.330 meter). We zien de Mont Blanc en de Matterhorn, maar ook de zwarte boebelpiste...
Dit is niets meer voor een gepensioneerde, maar toch goed op het afgereden stuk geraakt. Daarna komt de verrassing van de dag met een nog vijf keer zo lange en steile boebelafdaling naar Tortin. Een Zwiterse Itinéraire, een hors-piste zeg maar. Als debutant moet je hier wel vooraf de kaart van buiten leren. Wat een avontuurlijk gebied!

Seilbahnen am Mont Fort (Verbier - Tortin - Les 4 Vallées)
1960 konnte mit dem Mont Gélé vom renommierten Wintersportort Verbier aus ein über 3000 Meter hoher Gipfel per Seilbahn erschlossen werden. Lange Jahre stellte er das Dach der vier Täler, der Quatre Vallées dar – dem grössten Schweizer Skigebiet, das sich zwischen Bruson und Veysonnaz erstreckt. 20 Jahre später wurde der Mont Gélé übertrumpft. Ab dem Winter 1983 ging es noch eine Etage höher – auf den 3300 Meter hohen Mont Fort.
