Farmers Market at the Capitol - July 31, 2014, Lansing, Michigan
It’s summertime in Michigan, and that means it’s fresh produce season! Once again this year, special farmers markets are being held on the east lawn of our State Capitol, the latest one on Thursday, July 31, 2014. There will be two more this summer, on August 28th and September 25th.
For all three markets, vendors from across the state will be on the Capitol lawn to sell their Michigan-grown and processed products at the market. Consumers will be able to purchase a wide variety of products, including fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables, flowers, jams, jellies, baked goods, honey, maple syrup, fish and meat, salsas, dips, pickled products, soaps and more.
All of this is just a sample of the more than 300 agricultural commodities that Michigan produces.
Buying locally helps support our farmers, agri-businesses, rural communities, and our state's economy. Whether this is your first trip to the farmers market on the Capitol Lawn, or you are a return shopper, we hope you will come and experience the benefits of local foods firsthand.
