JERUSALEM, ISRAEL'S OLD CITY (not what we expected)
Jerusalem is a place we have known about since before we can remember. It was a surreal experience walking the streets of the Old Town today, but it was also emotionally draining for many reasons. We explored as much as possible in one day including the Temple Mount, the Western Wall, Via Dolorosa, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Mount of Olives, and of course, we ate some delicious local foods. But for some reason, this place wasn’t like we pictured it being.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
The new fast train from Jerusalem - BBC News
It's been a long time coming, but Israeli commuters are finally able to board double-decker high-speed trains on a new link from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv.
Construction has been plagued by engineering and planning challenges, and the last section of the line is still not open. The route has also angered some Palestinians, as part of the track runs in tunnels under the occupied West Bank.
Transport Minister Yisrael Katz hopes it will eventually whisk passengers from secular, liberal Tel Aviv to a Donald Trump Station next to the Western Wall, one of Judaism's holiest sites.

A walk around the historical old city of Jerusalem | Trip to Israel 2019
Visiting the Old City of Jerusalem is like travelling to a mystical, magical new world. Long considered one of the world’s holiest and most visited locations and home to structures and ruins significant to the three significant monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam, a walk through its hallowed passages is an exciting and life-changing source of historic, cultural and spiritual uplift that one simply must not miss out on.
Join the masses of tourists who visit Jerusalem’s Old City on a daily basis and allow yourself to be transported back in time. Witness how Jews, Muslims, Christians and Armenians live and interact as you visit the many awe inspiring and spiritually uplifting local sites, tucked away in the Old City’s winding alleyways and camouflaged by the uniformity of the cool, Jerusalem stone. Walk down the Way of the Cross and visit the many ornate local churches, including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, pay your respects at the Garden Tomb, whisper a prayer at the Western Wall (Kotel), take a tour of the underground Kotel Tunnels or step into the very-busy Arab marketplace. The structures are sensational, forming within you lasting connections to a bygone era.

Old City of Jerusalem, Israel - Best Travel Destination
The Old City is a 0.9 square kilometers walled area within the modern city of Jerusalem. Until 1860, when the Jewish neighborhood Mishkenot Sha'ananim was established, this area constituted the entire city of Jerusalem.
The Tel Aviv to Jerusalem high speed railway הרכבת המהירה לירושלים
The Tel Aviv–Jerusalem train line connects the two biggest cities in Israel.
It has been under construction in stages since 2001. It will serve as the main rail link between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, complementing the old Jaffa–Jerusalem railway.
The newly constructed railway will span about 56 km of electrified double track, costing approximately NIS 7 billion (about US$2 billion) due to the extensive bridging and tunneling required along the mountainous route. The design speed is 160 km/h with a projected travel time of approximately 28 minutes from Tel Aviv HaHagana Railway Station and 20 minutes form Ben Gurion Airport Railway Station to Jerusalem's Navon station.

The Jerusalem Light Rail
A 21st century way to commute through an ancient city.
Running from the northern edge of Jerusalem to Mount Herzl in the south, with further extensions planned, the electrified Jerusalem Light Rail has changed the face of transportation in the ancient city.
The Light Rail runs 13.9 kilometers (8.6 miles) through the capital, stopping at most major tourist sites and connecting with bus lines. It's a great way to meet the people of Jerusalem and get a real feel for life in the city.
As one passenger notes on this video: It's good to see that they've got signs and announcements in Hebrew, English and Arabic so it's inclusive of everyone. It's really good.

My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.
Jerusalem City Center Area, Israel
Jerusalem city center is the new town or west/Jewish Jerusalem city center. In recent years many of its streets were turned into pedestrian streets. This area offers a more modern and lively atmosphere that is very different from the much older and historic old city which is only about 10-15 minutes walk away.
The main streets in this area are Jaffa, Ben Yehuda, King George, Hillel etc. This video shows some of the smaller and quieter streets of this area.

Israel Honors Trump With Jerusalem Rail Station Name
Israeli Minister of Transportation Yisrael Katz told CNN, a planned high-speed rail station in the Old City of Jerusalem will be named after President Donald Trump.
The station will be built inside the walls of the Old City. It will drop off passengers near the Dung Gate, which leads straight to the Western Wall, the holiest site at which Jews can pray.
Trump made history in early May when he became the first sitting US president to visit the Western Wall. In apparent recognition of the sensitivity of his visit, he did so without any Israeli government officials.
