Only In San Francisco - Paxton Gate
A look at some of the unique, crazy, weird and just head scratching experiences on my travels around the globe, in a very dodgy bunch of videos entitled Only In.
It's an on-the-go YouTube series that's created with my only little point and shoot camera, my iPad and Coke Zero and Crispy Cremes in a dodgy hostel in the cheap part of town, or an airport terminal if I'm lucky.

Door Trick! Very Interesting Paxton Hydraulic Lift/Elevator @ Lake Surgery, Taupo, NZ
Door Trick! This is the Very Interesting Paxton Hydraulic Lift/Elevator at Lake Surgery in Taupo, New Zealand. This lift is very interesting and has the ability to do the 'Door Trick'. I take a ride up (note it is December 29th and it is very quiet so no-one should really need to use the lift) and then go back down (the lift opens right out into the waiting area and no-one getting out looks suspicious). When I am arriving at the ground floor the lady holds down the 2nd floor button to bring the lift back up without opening its doors (the 'Door Trick') and then she asks me what I'm doing so I say exactly what I'm doing and she is fine with it (I was thinking about doing the door trick on her by holding down the 1 button so the doors wouldn't have opened but thought what is the point as she would walk down the stairs faster than I could get out by the lift!). I like the nice centre open 2 speed door for such a small opening (it is to save space).

The best fried chicken in San Francisco
Christine and John visit the Bay area and, per the usual, do a whole lot of eating. First, they check out a soul food joint, but can this place really hold up to the southern comforts found in their home state of Texas? Then John takes Christine to an eclectic taxidermy store in the Mission before they order takeout from one of their go-to spots whenever they’re in San Francisco. Whether from Louisiana, Korea, or, in this case, China, fried chicken will always be a favorite of Christine’s.

Out of the Closet, Off the Screen:The Life of William Haines(2001 documentary)
What price Hollywood? was the title of an early George Cukor film, but is a question every closeted movie star has probably asked himself. In 1930, the top box office star was a gay man. Billy Haines lived with his lover, Jimmie Shields, and never posed on the red carpet with a beard on his arm. By 1933, he was washed up in show business; and by 1936, he had become hugely successful in an entirely new line of work-interior decorator. Out of the Closet, Off the Screen: the Life of William Haines details the extraordinary life of Billy Haines, the only matinee idol who ever decided that Hollywood’s price was too high and walked away from film stardom.
