M/S of an army officer carrying colours, as he walks toward waiting standard bearers, who salute him with swords. Ranks of soldiers with rifles are assembled behind them. The standard bearers put the colours in their belt holsters. They march slowly with toes pointed in a slow march followed by other soldiers. A priest stands in the parade ground and blesses the standards and drums. M/S Prince Henry in uniform taking the salute from ranks of marching soldiers. They all turn their heads, eyes right.

The East Yorkshire Regiment was a line infantry regiment of the British Army, first raised in 1685 as Sir William Clifton's Regiment of Foot.It saw service for three centuries, before being amalgamated with the West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own) to form the Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire in 1958.

Description: George William Chafer VC was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. He was 22 years old, and a private in the 1st Battalion, The East Yorkshire Regiment, British Army during the First World War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC. On 3/4 June 1916 east of Méaulte, Somme, France, during a very heavy bombardment and attack on our trenches, a man carrying an important written message to his commanding officer was half buried and rendered unconscious by a shell. Private Chafer, at once grasping the situation, on his own initiative, took the message from the man's pocket and, although severely wounded, choking and blinded by gas, ran along the ruined parapet under heavy shell and machine-gun fire. He just succeeded in delivering the message before he collapsed from the effects of his wounds.His Victoria Cross is displayed at The Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire Museum, 3 Tower Street, York, England.

OO gauge BR Deltic Class 55 N°55001 pulling a rake of twelve coaches. Locomotive by Bachmann with factory fitted with lighting, DCC and Sound. Nine Mark 2 coaches, 2 Mark 1 coaches and 1 Mail Van by Bachmann.
The video is an attempt to recreate a typical scene on the East Coast London to Edinburgh line during the 1970s.

The 1st Battalion, York and Lancaster Regiment was an infantry battalion of the British Army, created in 1881 from the 65th Regiment of Foot.The battalion was part of the York and Lancaster Regiment and in existence from 1881 until 1968 when, rather than amalgamating with another regiment of the line, the battalion chose instead to disband.

The Royal Dragoon Guards at work rest and play,
A British Army Cavalry Regiment formed in 1992 from 2 antecedent Regiments the 4/7th Royal Dragoon Guards and the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards who in turn were formed in 1922 from the amalgamation of 4 Cavalry Regiments the 4th (Royal Irish) Dragoon Guards, 5th (Princess Charlotte of Wales's) Dragoon Guards, the 7th (Princess Royal's Dragoon Guards and 6th Inniskilling Dragoons who were formed in the 1680's. The Royal Dragoon Guards are now based in Catterick, North Yorkshire as part of 4 Brigade (The Black Rats). Their museum is located at 3 Tower Street, York, North Yorkshire. The Regiment recruits from North Yorkshire and Northern Ireland where two of the antecedent regiments were formed, There is also a museum display in Chester and another with our partner museum the Enniskillen Fusiler's Museum which tells the story of the Inniskilling Soldier. All 3 museums are worth a visit in their own right. The music is by Robert Bentley and is his re-working of the Regimental March. Copies can be downloaded from his site at: Quis Separabit.
Filmed and Not Forgotten
A grant has been awarded to Yorkshire FIlm Archive to discover the stories of the people captured on film in its First World War collection. Filmed and Not Forgotten will research: who was that sergeant waving at the camera as he marched over Lendal Bridge in York; what happened at the sports day in Scarborough when the regiments stationed there came together with the community for a day of fun away from the front line? All of these films, and the stories of the people in the films, will be brought together in screenings and as an online exhibition so that everyone can see and learn about the impact of First World War on communities across the region. The project will also enable conservation and digitisation of the archive. for more details
Queen's Own Yeomanry
Territorial Army soldiers marched through York's streets to exercise their newly-granted Freedom of the City, accompanied by eight light reconnaissance tanks and the Heavy Cavalry and Cambrai Band. The 80 soldiers from the Queen's Own Yeomanry received the new honour from the Lord Mayor of York. The Queen's Own Yeomanry is an armoured reconnaissance regiment and has squadrons in York, Newcastle, Ayr, Cupar and Belfast.
