Waves Sneak Up Reynisfjara Beach in Iceland and Knock Over Tourists
Taken on November 3rd, 2018 at Reynisfjara, also commonly known as the Black Sand Beach in Iceland. People didn't pay attention to warning signs about the dangerous waves that can sneak up the shore. They all got up afterwords and thankfully were ok. Be safe everyone!

Dangerous world-famous Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach in Iceland
Visitors to Reynisfjara must be made well aware of the potential dangers present at the beach. First of all, the rolling, roaring waves of Reynisfjara are particularly violent, often pushing far further up the beach than many would expect.
These are called sneaker-waves, and they can appear when least expected, even on incredibly still days. There are no significant landmasses in between Antarctica and the shores of Reynisfjara, meaning waves have thousands of kilometers to build.
Visitors are advised to never turn their back on the waves, and keep a safe distance of at least 30 meters (98 feet).

Not far from the village of Vik on the south coast of Iceland is Reynisfjara, a famous black sand beach. Just offshore from the beach are spectacular basalt columns known as Reynisdrangar. These towers are a photographers dream being situated below a mountain with crashing waves below. Reynisfjara is considered to be one of the most beautiful non-tropical beaches in the world.

Dyrholaey & Reynisfjara, Iceland in 4K (Ultra HD)
Dyrhólaey Cape and Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach are one of the top Iceland scenic destinations. They are located in Southern Iceland near the village of Vik.
Dyrhólaey is 120 m/390 ft high promontory and natural reserve with many birds nesting on its cliffs. Its name means door-hole, coming from the huge stone arch at the end of the cape. The beautiful black sand beach by Dyrholaey is called Kirkjufjara and is closed to tourists.
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach provides scenic views of Dyrhólaey, and to the nearby impressive basalt sea stacks Reynisdrangar. The Halsanefshellir basalt columns cave is right on the beach.
Recorded June 2016 in 4K (Ultra HD) with Sony AX100.

Taunting waves at Reynisfjara Beach. Katie was caught by the sneaker waves during our visit to the black sand beach in Vik, Iceland. I asked her to film me running from the waves, and they snuck up on her.
