Fishing on My 3-Year Virginia-versary!
I am back after a short hiatus to move into my new place. I felt rested enough to head out fishing and mark my 3rd year of living in Virginia by fishing in Virginia Beach. I played around in a tributary of the Lynnhaven Inlet and caught a few croaker. It felt good getting back outdoors and I hope I can keep it up as we still have a lot of unpacking to do at the house. I can't speak for the rest of Virginia, but living in Hampton Roads has been a fun experience. It has it challenges, but I'm enjoying myself. There's much more discovering to be had. Thanks for joining me!
Apologies for the video quality. I can't seem to upload outside of 360p.

December Kayak Tautog at Concrete Ships - 3 Day Montage!
Hey guys!
I have a very special video for you today.
Since I started fishing for them, tog fishing has always been a very special experience to me. It represents a lot of things to me. It was always the one type of fishing my grandfather wouldn't take me along for when I was a kid - I totally get it now... :)
It's also a representation of my maturity as a kayak fisherman and in other ways, a capable guy interacting with nature.
Sorry to be such a sap! But like I said, it meant so much for me to be able to go to this beautiful fishery and experience what it had to offer. Every minute out there I think I had a smile on my face.
As the video description outlines, I ventured out there 3 different days. Day one was like a dry run, I fished here and there, looking for structure and getting a feel for the place.
Day 2, I started to understand when the tog were biting, and in what locations.
By day 3, I was able to catch the 'lunch rush' I had learned about on day 2 and I really capitalized on catching. I did miss a lot of footage at the end of day 3 where I caught a few and missed a ton of hits.
I definitely want to go back soon and see if I can snag one more up around the 18-20 mark.
A disclaimer - I'm still learning a lot out there. If you have some pointers, shoot them my way!

Hot Girl fishing catches Flounder off kayak
This bad boy was measuring 15 inches. Got this flounder by the sea-wall off live shrimp on my kayak. Gave me a bit of a fight but not too bad. I asked Alex for his help because I wanted to keep this one and I was not have a fishing fail yet again. Good times in the water, last couple days have been good for fishing, so I am excited to show you guys what I catch next. Stay tuned!

HEADLINE: At VA Beach, surfing not worry ahead of Earl
CAPTION: The Norfolk and Virginia Beach area is expected to be spared Hurricane Earl's wrath. So as the AP's Lee Powell found, why not take in some surf? (Sept. 2)
Script:
(Tilt down boardwalk sign, wide beach)
Along the boardwalk of Virginia Beach ...
(WS sky to south, ocean)
The approach of Hurricane Earl ... Somewhere out THERE ...
(MS people in water, getting sun, kids playing) Is hardly reason to not have a day at the beach. The clouds are getting thicker ... The waves stronger ... But not worry.
Linda Henderson / Snellville, GA
SOT: My husband's really excited about it because we're inland, close to Atlanta so of course we never experience anything like this before.
(MS flag at guard station, people looking at surf) The forecast here ... A relatively light touch from Earl.
Dave Stake / Bleeker, PA
SOT: Not too worried, been watching track of it, seems like it will slide up the coast, we will get some high winds here probably 40-45 miles per hour maybe a half inch rain but we're prepared.
(NATS earthmoving equipment picking up sand)
The city is getting prepared, too. Construction equipment taking to this giant pile of sand ...
Lee Powell / The Associated Press
Bridge stup: It's a big weekend coming up here in Virginia Beach, with a race and music. So ahead of that, crews are building this sand berm to protect that stage from any rising water.
(MS people in water, compression shot up beach)
While crews worked ... People played ... Or just took in the sights ...
Jordan Young / Virginia Beach
SOT: The water's getting pretty rough, there are a lot of currents, you can't really swim out there right now. There's only surfers and that's what brought us down here today I guess.
(MS beachgoers, birds, surfer statue, looking toward open ocean)
A day for some sand ... A little sun ... And surfing, ahead of the storm.
Lee Powell, The Associated Press, Virginia Beach
