Studio Sacramento: Sacramento City College
2017 celebrates the 100-year anniversary of Sacramento City College, the oldest of our region’s community colleges. Interim President Michael Poindexter talks with host Scott Syphax about the school's history.
Sacramento City College History & Heroes - Commencement- NIS
Excerpt from the Sacramento City College Commencement Program: Sacramento City College welcomes back its Nisei students, and in doing so took an important step toward correcting an injustice that occurred over 70 years ago. The word Nisei means second generation, and here it is used to describe the sons and daughters of Japanese men and women who moved to the United States to begin a new life. During early 1940's these students were attending school and preparing with excitement for their own college graduation. Their dream of receiving a college diploma, however, was deferred when they were forced into internment by Executive Order 9066.
Approximately 224 Nisei students were studying at what was then called Sacramento Junior College when Executive Order 9066 was signed into law--second highest number of students impacted at a single California college. In accordance with Assembly Bill 37, passed in May 2009, each of the following students, or their designee is participating in SCC's 2010 commencement ceremony and receiving an honorary diploma. - created at

Visit Sacramento California Begins Here
Sacramento is experiencing a true renaissance. It is alive and buzzing with new sights, sounds and smells. As America's Farm-to-Fork Capital, it fuses surrounding farms with local restaurants, which led to the explosion of our farm-fresh food scene. The newly opened Golden 1 Center is the heart of a revitalized downtown core that is walkable and home to new hotels and an entertainment district.
It’s one of California’s most affordable and accessible cities, served by 150 flights daily. The soon-to-be-expanded convention center currently offers 384,000 sq. ft. of event space, 137,500 sq. ft. of exhibit space, 31 meeting rooms, and there are more than 2,000 hotel rooms within walking distance. Major hotel brands include the Hyatt, Sheraton, Marriott, Kimpton, Hilton, DoubleTree, Embassy, Westin and Holiday Inn.
While the evolution of this city continues to progress at breathtaking speed, we hold tight to our history, diversity and natural beauty, which enriches our culture and unique character. It’s all happening here and now, and you too will feel the excitement.

5 Myths About Living in Sacramento CA
5 Myths About Living in Sacramento CA // In this video, I share the most common myths about living in Sacramento California. I have been living in Sacramento California for over 30 years and our city has grown tremendously so there’s always something to do. For example, there are a ton of great restaurants such as The Kitchen (a Michelin Star restaurant), Zinfandel Grille, Biba, Wildwood Kitchen & Bar, Piatti, Zelda’s Pizza, Kru and Mikuni’s to name a few.
It can get hot in the summer but we benefit from the “delta breeze” so it typically cools off nicely at night.
Sacramento is also rich in history and is most known for the Gold Rush after gold was found close by in 1848.

Sacramento & Auburn
#Saramento #Auburn #USA #GoPro #TourDiary
Sacramento, capital of the U.S. state of California, lies at the confluence of the Sacramento River and American River. The district of Old Sacramento harkens back to the city’s Gold Rush era, with wooden sidewalks and wagon rides. One of several museums in Old Sacramento, the California State Railroad Museum depicts the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad, one of the country’s earliest technological feats.
Auburn is a city in and the county seat of Placer County, California. Its population was 13,330 during the 2010 census. Auburn is known for its California Gold Rush history, and is registered as a California Historical Landmark.
