Sandwich Massachusetts Cape Cod 375th Anniversary Celebration Paintscaping
In recognition of the 375th birthday of The Town Of Sandwich, the church in the center of town was turned into the canvas for a spectacular animation. It's called Paintscaping and it's a grand video writ large on a huge structure — the First Church of Christ, constructed in 1848. This ~9 minute presentation was first shown at 8:30PM on August 3rd, 2014. It was then shown multiple times that evening and again on the evenings of August 4th and 5th. The animation celebrates the history of the town — incorporated in 1639 — including notable buildings like the original Town Hall, The Glass Museum, Heritage Museum, the wood boardwalk, The Daniel Webster Inn, as well as nearby Joint Base Cape Cod (previously Otis Air Force Base). This video was recorded with a Canon DSLR with 28mm lens. Original resolution is 1080p, so please watch it at 720 or 1080, to get the best viewing experience.
The Titus Winchester Headstone- Old Town Cemetery- Sandwich, MA.
In 1765, Reverend Abraham Williams became pastor of the church, bringing with him a 19-year old black slave named Titus Winchester. Reverend Williams died in 1784 and in his Last Will & Testament he freed Winchester in recognition of his many years of faithful service as church caretaker.
Winchester went to sea as a steward and, when he died in 1808, left his entire estate (approximately $3,300) for the purpose of purchasing a clock for the Meeting House so that it would ring for many years to come in memory of his former master. The clock became to be known as Old Titus to the people of Sandwich .
Winchester was so respected by the Sandwich townspeople, that he was interred in the historic cemetery in a tomb very near Rev. Williams that has the longest inscription of any of the gravestones (it refers to him as a servant rather than a slave). (Incidentally, The Old Town Cemetery, which dates from the 1660s is fascinating to visit; the tombstone art and inscriptions speak volumes about the people and the times in which they lived.)
During the Portland Gale, a severe winter storm in 1878, the church steeple was toppled and the Winchester clock and tower were destroyed. A new steeple was built in 1881 with funds donated by Jonathan Bourne, a whaling tycoon who was born in Sandwich . The original clock was replaced with the present four-faced clock 'for the entire town to see' and a bell, cast in 1854, was also placed in the steeple. The Clock and Bell Tower have recently been restored by current owner Christopher Wilson. (The old church is now a private residence.)
The headstone reads- HERE
lies interred all that was mortal of
TITUS WINCHESTER Aged 62
who departed this life March 27 A D 1808.
For many years he was the servant of
Rev. Abraham Williams the former minister
of this place. His fidelity to his master
on earth could only be exceeded by
that which he continually displayed
toward his heavenly. Of industry,
temperance and sound economy he was
an uncommon example. The fruit of
all his earthly labor he generously
consecrated to the service of heaven.
To the first precinct of this place he
bequeathed all his substance to
be dedicated to pious uses. In
testimony of their sense of grati-
tude this monumental stone is
raised as sacred to his memory
and his virtues.

Cape Cod in the fall
Cape cod in the fall,
Cape Cod, a hook-shaped peninsula of the U.S. state of Massachusetts, is a popular summertime destination. It's the site of quaint villages, seafood shacks, lighthouses, ponds and bay and ocean beaches. In the large town of Hyannis, the John F. Kennedy Museum is the first stop on the Kennedy Legacy Trail through downtown, where ferries depart to the resort islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
Cape Cod is a geographic cape extending into the Atlantic Ocean from the southeastern corner of mainland Massachusetts, in the northeastern United States. Its historic, maritime character and ample beaches attract heavy tourism during the summer months.
As defined by the Cape Cod Commission's enabling legislation, Cape Cod is conterminous with Barnstable County, Massachusetts.[2] It extends from Provincetown in the northeast to Woods Hole in the southwest, and is bordered by Plymouth to the northwest.
Since 1914, most of Cape Cod has been separated from the mainland by the Cape Cod Canal. The canal cuts 7 miles (11 km) roughly across the base of the peninsula, though small portions of the Cape Cod towns of Bourne and Sandwich lie on the mainland side of the canal. Two highway bridges cross the Cape Cod Canal: the Sagamore Bridge and the Bourne Bridge. In addition, the Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge carries railway freight and limited passenger services onto the Cape. Cape territory is divided into 15 towns with many villages.
Cape Cod has been the home of the Wampanoag Native American people for many centuries. They survived off the sea and were accomplished farmers. They understood the principles of sustainable forest management, and were known to light controlled fires to keep the underbrush in check. They helped the Pilgrims, who arrived in the fall of 1620, survive at their new Plymouth Colony.
The Wampanoag lost their lands through continued purchase and expropriation by the English colonists. The documentary Natives of the Narrowland (1993), narrated by actress Julie Harris, shows the history of the Wampanoag people through Cape Cod archaeological sites.
In 1974, the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Council was formed to articulate the concerns of those with Native American ancestry. They petitioned the federal government in 1975 and again in 1990 for official recognition of the Mashpee Wampanoag as a tribe. In May 2007, the Wampanoag tribe was federally recognized

Postcards from Cape Cod: Yarmouth
The Town of Yarmouth is one of the most developed towns on Cape Cod. It's also home for many parks and attractions such as Pirates Cove, Skull Island (which has a great golf course), nice shopping centers, and many fun games! It's also home for many great restaurants like Captain Parkers. Even in the winter, when the tourists leave, you won't feel isolated because you're always near shopping centers and restaurants, and five minutes away from Hyannis and the Cape Cod Mall. So don't think Yarmouth, Cape Cod, is a ghost town in the winter; think that you are still near many nice restaurants and shopping centers!
Plymouth Massachusetts - Aug-13, 2005
Plymouth (historically known as Plimouth and Plimoth) is a town in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States. Plymouth holds a place of great prominence in American history, folklore and culture, and is known as America's Hometown. Plymouth was the site of the colony founded in 1620 by the Pilgrims, passengers of the famous ship the Mayflower. Plymouth is where New England was first established. It is the oldest municipality in New England and one of the oldest in the United States. The town has served as the location of several prominent events, the most notable being the First Thanksgiving feast. Plymouth served as the capital of Plymouth Colony from its founding in 1620 until the colony's merger with the Massachusetts Bay colony in 1691.
Plymouth is the largest municipality in Massachusetts by area. The population is 56,468 according to the 2010 U.S. Census. Plymouth is one of two county seats of Plymouth County, the other being Brockton.
Plymouth is located approximately 40 miles (64 km) south of Boston in a region of Massachusetts known as the South Shore. Throughout the 19th century, the town thrived as a center of ropemaking, fishing, and shipping, and once held the world's largest ropemaking company, the Plymouth Cordage Company. While it continues to be an active port, today the major industry of Plymouth is tourism. Plymouth is served by Plymouth Municipal Airport, and contains Pilgrim Hall Museum, the oldest continually operating museum in the United States.
As one of the country's first settlements, Plymouth is well-known in the United States for its historical value. The events surrounding the history of Plymouth have become part of the mythology of the United States, particularly those relating to Plymouth Rock, the Pilgrims and the First Thanksgiving. The town itself is a popular tourist spot during the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Mayflower was the ship that transported the English Separatists, better known as the Pilgrims, from a site near the Mayflower Steps in Plymouth, England, to Plymouth, Massachusetts, (which would become the capital of Plymouth Colony), in 1620. There were 102 passengers and a crew of 25--30.
The vessel left England on September 6, 1620 (Old Style)/September 16 (New Style), and after a grueling 66-day journey marked by disease, which claimed two lives, the ship dropped anchor inside the hook tip of Cape Cod (Provincetown Harbor) on November 11/November 21. The Mayflower was originally destined for the mouth of the Hudson River, near present-day New York City, at the northern edge of England's Virginia colony, which itself was established with the 1607 Jamestown Settlement. However, the Mayflower went off course as the winter approached, and remained in Cape Cod Bay. On March 21/31, 1621, all surviving passengers, who had inhabited the ship during the winter, moved ashore at Plymouth, and on April 5/15, the Mayflower, a privately commissioned vessel, returned to England. In 1623, a year after the death of captain Christopher Jones, the Mayflower was most likely dismantled for scrap timber in Rotherhithe, London.
Modern history
In the last 30 years, Plymouth has experienced rapid growth and development. As in many South Shore towns, Plymouth became more accessible to Boston in the early 1970s with improved railroads, highways, and bus routes. Furthermore, the town's inexpensive land costs and low tax rates were factors in the town's significant population rise. Plymouth's population grew from 18,606 residents in 1970 to 45,608 residents in 1990, a 145% increase in 20 years. The population has continued to expand in recent years. While Plymouth has already surpassed several Massachusetts cities in population, the town is still officially regarded as a town, as it has not been re-chartered as a city and continues to be governed by a board of selectmen rather than a mayor. Plymouth has emerged as a major economic and tourist center of the South Shore.
One of the largest towns in Massachusetts, Plymouth spans several exits on its main highway, Route 3. Plymouth boasts several larger shopping plazas and a nearby mall in Kingston, MA, much of which has been built in just the past 5 years. As it has grown, additional access is possible via a recent extension to Plymouth's second largest highway, Route 44. Additional development was expected due to a large construction of a Movie Studio complex called Plymouth Rock Studios, which has since been discontinued.

New Hampshire state song (anthem)
Official anthem New Hampshire state USA and New Hampshire flag.Old New Hampshire is the original and official state song of the U.S. state of New Hampshire. The words were written by Dr. John F. Holmes and music composed by Maurice Hoffmann in 1926.State song old New Hampshire lyrics:
With a skill that knows no measure,
From the golden store of Fate
God, in His great love and wisdom,
Made the rugged Granite State;
Made the lakes, the fields, the forests;
Made the Rivers and the rills;
Made the bubbling, crystal fountains
Of New Hampshire's Granite Hills
Live Free or Die is the official motto of the U.S. state of New Hampshire, adopted by the state in 1945.[1] It is possibly the best-known of all state mottos, partly because it speaks to an assertive independence historically found in American political philosophy and partly because of its contrast to the milder sentiments found in other state mottos.Nickname New Hampshire The Granite State is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States of America.New Hampshire has a well-maintained, well-signed network of Interstate highways, U.S. highways, and state highways. State highway markers still depict the Old Man of the Mountain despite that rock formation's demise in 2003. Several route numbers align with the same route numbers in neighboring states. State highway numbering does not indicate the highway's direction.
