Homelessness in SOMA San Francisco
This is a video of me walking down the street I live on in San Francisco. I pay $3,000 in rent and it is located in what I would call one of the most convenient places to live in terms of proximity to major tech companies. I made this video to show a greater detail of what life is like beyond just the drive bys you see in most videos about homelessness in California.

Driving Downtown - San Francisco High Rise Hotspot 4K - USA
Driving Downtown Neighborhoods South Of Market - San Francisco California USA - Episode 22.
Starting Point: Mission Street - . Neighborhood: South Of Market -
South of Market (or SoMa) is a relatively large neighborhood in San Francisco, California, United States which is located just south of Market Street, and contains several sub-neighborhoods including: South Beach, Mission Bay, and Rincon Hill.
SoMa is home to many of the city's museums, to the headquarters of several major software and Internet companies, and to the Moscone Conference Center.
Businesses
Many major software and technology companies have headquarters and offices here, including Ustream, Planet Labs, Foursquare, CloudFlare, Wikia, Thumbtack, Wired, GitHub, Pinterest, CBS Interactive, LinkedIn, Trulia, Cleanify, Dropbox, IGN, Salesforce.com, BitTorrent Inc., Yelp, Zynga, Airbnb, Uber and Advent Software. The area is also home to the few Big-box stores in San Francisco such as Costco, REI, Nordstrom Rack, and Best Buy.
San Francisco
San Francisco (SF), officially the City and County of San Francisco, is the cultural, commercial, and financial center of Northern California. It is the most densely settled large city in the state of California and the second-most densely populated major city in the United States after New York City.
A popular tourist destination, San Francisco is known for its cool summers, fog, steep rolling hills, eclectic mix of architecture, and landmarks, including the Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars, the former Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, Fisherman's Wharf, and its Chinatown district. San Francisco is also the headquarters of five major banking institutions and various other companies such as Levi Strauss & Co., Gap Inc., Salesforce.com, Dropbox, Reddit, Square, Inc., Dolby, Airbnb, Weebly, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Yelp, Pinterest, Twitter, Uber, Lyft, Mozilla, Wikimedia Foundation, and Craigslist.
It has several nicknames, including The City by the Bay, Fog City, San Fran, and Frisco, as well as older ones like The City that Knows How, Baghdad by the Bay, The Paris of the West, or simply The City. As of 2016, San Francisco is ranked high on world liveability rankings.
The last 20 years have seen two booms driven by the internet industry. First was the dot-com boom of the late 1990s, startup companies invigorated the San Francisco economy. Large numbers of entrepreneurs and computer application developers moved into the city, followed by marketing, design, and sales professionals, changing the social landscape as once-poorer neighborhoods became increasingly gentrified. Demand for new housing and office space ignited a second wave of high-rise development, this time in the South of Market district. By 2000, the city's population reached new highs, surpassing the previous record set in 1950. When the bubble burst in 2001, many of these companies folded and their employees were laid off. Yet high technology and entrepreneurship remain mainstays of the San Francisco economy. By the mid 2000s (decade), the social media boom had begun, with San Francisco becoming a popular location for tech offices and a popular place to live for people employed in Silicon Valley companies such as Apple and Google.
Economy
San Francisco has a diversified service economy, with employment spread across a wide range of professional services, including financial services, tourism, and (increasingly) high technology.
Tourism and Conventions
Tourism is one of the city's largest private-sector industries, accounting for more than one out of seven jobs in the city. The city's frequent portrayal in music, film, and popular culture has made the city and its landmarks recognizable worldwide.
Sports
Major League Baseball's San Francisco Giants have played in San Francisco since moving from New York in 1958. The San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL) were the longest-tenured major professional sports franchise in the city until moving in 2013.
Culture and Contemporary Life
The Financial District, Union Square, and Fisherman's Wharf are well-known around the world.
Beaches and Parks
Several of San Francisco's parks and nearly all of its beaches form part of the regional Golden Gate National Recreation Area, one of the most visited units of the National Park system in the United States with over 13 million visitors a year.

Summer starts on time in Baghdad by the Bay. A new park opened to throngs of new and old rippers at the edge of the Mission in SF. It's far from the hospital so lets hope it doesn't' start like Potrero del Sol with 25 broken bones in the first week. Summer's here, come and get it! —Jake Phelps

SOMA, San Francisco - Blinded Me with Science
SOMA = South of Market Street. Not so long ago this was the avoided, grungy side of San Francisco. Just like many warehouse and rust-belt districts of major cities, such as SOHO in New York (South of Houston Street) or Shoreditch and Hoxton in London, the area has undergone major gentrification in the past 10-15 years. San Francisco's SOMA is now drop dead desirable, with high-tech companies snapping up hitherto neglected warehouses and shabby buildings to host their software development people.
Companies like We Work and DG707 renovate old buildings then rent out space, from a single desk to a small office to an entire floor.
Not sponsored. I am simply attracted to engaging, mesmeric spaces. For some it's a church or an art gallery. For me it's places where creativity thrives.

Salesforce Park Relaxing Walk - Salesforce Tower, Salesforce Transit Center, SoMa / Walk#49
Relaxing Walk in Newly Reopened Salesforce Transit Center Salesforce Park
Salesforce Transit Center (during planning and construction known as the Transbay Transit Center) is a temporarily-closed transit station in downtown San Francisco. It will serve as the primary bus terminal — and potentially as a future rail terminal — for the San Francisco Bay Area. The centerpiece of the San Francisco Transbay development, the construction is governed by the Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA). The 1,430-foot (440 m)-long building is located one block south of Market Street, a primary commercial and transportation artery in San Francisco.
Construction of the new terminal was necessitated by the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, which damaged the 1939-opened Transbay Terminal, and voters approved funds for the new Transbay Transit Center in 1999. Construction on the first phase, the aboveground bus terminal, began in 2010. Limited Muni bus service began in December 2017, and full service from AC Transit and other regional and intercity bus operators began in August 2018.[1][2] Full funding has not yet been secured for the second phase of construction, the Downtown Rail Extension, which hopes to add an underground terminal station for Caltrain and California High-Speed Rail.[3]
The transit center was abruptly ordered closed on September 25, 2018 following the discovery of a crack in a steel beam supporting the rooftop park. A crack in a second beam was found the next day. Repairs to these beams were completd in May 2019, while construction and road closures related to building issues were still ongoing.[4] The rooftop park reopened on July 1; bus service that uses the surface level will resume on July 13, with the full facility including the main bus deck scheduled to reopen on August 11. bay area earthquake
