EXPLORING ROTORUA (NEW ZEALAND): the indigenous MAORI Christian ⛪ Church of ST FAITH
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit this very unique Christian church located in the beautiful city of Rotorua in New Zealand. Let's admire its architecture inside and let's learn a few things about it... Vic Stefanu, vstefanu@yahoo.com. New Zealand is an island nation in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. The country geographically comprises two main landmasses – that of the North Island, or Te Ika-a-Māui, and the South Island, or Te Waipounamu – and numerous smaller islands. New Zealand is situated some 1,500 kilometres (900 mi) east of Australia across the Tasman Sea and roughly 1,000 kilometres (600 mi) south of the Pacific island areas of New Caledonia, Fiji, and Tonga.

Fan of chocolate cake and very specific shapes of pasta. Vegetarian ( + gelatin-free, no leather or fur) and proud rat mother. Blue jeans and high tops, everyday, bro. Aspiring minimalist. My friends tell me I'm too sassy.

A cat lady at heart, I have naturally ended up cutting my parenting teeth on three rodents considerably further down the food chain. My short attention span causes me to buy a new crappy old car every few months, and then spend weeks trying in vain to make it not crappy. Rinse and repeat. Also vegetarian, I believe avocados and mayonnaise are the staples of a healthy diet.

The Wedding of Les and Kim in Rotorua
Congratulations to Les and Kim Kershaw on the twentieth anniversary of their marriage. If you want to know how they did it , watch this edited video of their wedding service in Saint Faths Anglican Church, Ohinemutu, Rotorua, Aotearoa (New Zealand). In the congregation can be seen the bride's mother, Polly Day (nee Wharekura), and grandmother, Bess Day, and the groom's parents, Mr and Mrs Kershaw, as well as numerous whanau (family), including Terry and Rebecca O'Brien. Sure, the video is now 20 years old, but still inspiring. The Church of the Faith (Te Hahi O Te Whakapono) was originally built in 1885 as the first permanent Christian church in the Rotorua area. In 1910 the first church was moved to make way for a new and larger St Faiths's, ornamented inside with Maori art. The exterior is Tudor style of archtecture which was popular in Rotorua. teh church was further enlarged with an additional chapel and re-dedicated in 1967. Of note is the Galilee Chapel window overlooking Lake Rotorua with a full-size figure of Christ sandblasted on a plate glass window as if wlaking on the lake. He is wearing a cloak decorated with kiwi feathers, as worn by a Maori chief. The Maori art decorating the church was due to the influence of Bishop Bennett (1871-1950) who is buried in the sanctuary of the church.

Delegates from the Māori Anglican Church are off to New York following an invite from the United Nations.
