amazing trip by Train Zurich to St Moritz
amazing trip by Train Zurich to St Moritz
St. Moritz is situated on the southern side of the Alps, in the Engadin valley, at 1,856 meters – within easy reach of Zurich, Milan and Munich. Even though you will want to arrive as quickly as possible, you may find yourself to be enjoying the journey as much as the stay.
You will find full directions on how to get here on the map alongside or in the boxes below. By writing these lines, we very much hope to be able to convey to you the pleasures of the trip itself: Have your holidays begin as soon as you set off on your journey. There are plenty of options for a pleasurable trip. You could, for one, travel on either of two heritage railway lines, the Glacier Express and the Bernina Express, both of which are famous the world over. Or, in the 1930's restaurant car of the Rhaetian Railways, evoking a bygone era. Are you travelling by car? Then, you get the pick of one of the breathtaking mountain passes. Arriving from the south has a charm of its own: you will be travelling along Lake Como, the Valchiavenna and the Val Bregaglia. The famed Swiss postal car has a regular service running between Chiavenna (Italy) and St. Moritz. Or, you can hop on the Palm Express in Lugano (Ticino) which will take you all the way to the Engadin. Should neither of these options suit your extravagant self, then arrive in the Engadin by plane or helicopter, taking in the Alpine valley with a bird's eye view. Nothing less than being picked up by the hotel limo upon landing will befit that means of travel though
The train ride to the Engadin on the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) – from either Chur via the Albula Pass or Tirano (Italy) via the Bernina Pass – not only takes you along one of the most picturesque routes in all of Europe, with its loop tunnels and viaducts with vertiginous drops, it is also a fascinating trip for anyone even remotely interested in railway technology. From Landquart, you may also travel to St. Moritz via Klosters and the Vereina tunnel. The train ride from Zurich main station to St. Moritz takes 3 hours
There is an average of 11 trains a day between Zurich and St Moritz, leaving approximately every 42 minutes.
Departure station : Zuerich hb (Bahnhofplatz 7 8001 Zurich)
