DAY TRIP TO TECATE | Visiting the Tecate Brewery, Miguel Hidalgo Park & More
We weren't expecting to love Tecate as much as we did! When we originally started planning our day trip to Tecate, basically the only thing we wanted to do was visit the Tecate Brewery. But we ended up falling in love with the charming downtown area, beautiful park, and friendly people.
Tecate is truly an amazing city, and we really recommend visiting! Our favorite things that we did throughout the day was visit the Tecate Brewery and Miguel Hidalgo Park. Also, we can't forget about the delicious food and margaritas!

News 8 Throwback 1978: A trip to the brewery in Tecate, Mexico
News 8 took a trip south of San Diego to Tecate, Mexico, in early 1978 to showcase the busy brewery making the namesake beer of the city. News 8’s Janine Tartaglia reported that more than 500 people worked at the facility which produced more than 100-million liters of beer each year. The brewery owned by Cuauhtémoc also produced Carta Blanca and Indio at the time. Janine reported the employees made an average of 280 pesos per week, or roughly $13.

Tecate, Baja California: Pueblo Mágico
The sleepy ranch town of Tecate, Baja California is one of Baja California's most underappreciated travel destinations. The culinary scene here is on the rise in a big way, bolstered by the recent reopening of the tasting room inside the famous Tecate Beer Factory. In addition to being a quiet and charismatic family oriented center of culture and gastronomy, Tecate is one of the ancestral homelands of the Kumeyaay indigenous people -- some of whom still live in the area and speak the rapidly disappearing native Kumeyaay tongue.
