Ancient Thailand City Ayutthaya
In the video we travelled to beautiful Ayutthaya which is the old capital city of Thailand in the past, before it was destroyed during a war 700 plus years ago. Only one and a half hours away from Bangkok, we travelled by train and had an amazing time there. We took a boat ride, saw so many amazing old temples, saw Elephants and took a trip to the famous floating market.

TEMPLE'D OUT in Ayutthaya, Thailand // Travel Vlog
For the last inland town on my journey to Bangkok, I visited the temple ruins in Ayutthaya, Thailand. We visit Wat Mahathat and Wat Phra Ram. Even though this area is one of the most popular sites between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, I think I was experiencing major temple/ruins fatigue.

Khao-san Museum in Bangkok - Thailand 4K Travel Channel
Although the Khao San Road gives the impression that there is predominantly entertainment, you find the Khao San Museum here. The museum is a little hidden in the background half-way down the street. It is housed on the first floor of a cafe. In addition to a model of the neighborhood, as it may have looked like a century ago, there are numerous photographs depicting the life at that time very vividly. Main means of transportation was the boat, with which one could reach almost all the houses on the canals. Old lances and spears are on display. They probably had a symbolic meaning for the residents.

The Unesco World Heritage site of Ayutthaya is 53 miles (85 kilometers) north of Bangkok. Ayutthaya was a thriving Siamese kingdom from 1350 until 1767, when it was captured by the Burmese. Today, Ayutthaya is know for its spectacular ruins and temples. Many of its temples are still intact, such as Wat Phra Sanphet, Wat Mongkhon Bophit, Wat Panangcherng and Wat Chai Mongkol, known for its large bronze statue of the Reclining Buddha.
You will also see the summer palace of King Rama IV with its mixture of Thai, Chinese and Gothic architecture. The palace is a well-preserved 'museum', providing a glimpse into a time when Thailand was known as Siam.

My visit to Ayutthaya - capital of the ancient kingdom of Thailand
We booked on thanatharee.com and set off to discover Ayutthaya the former capital of the ancient kingdom of Thailand as part of a rice barge river cruise that etc Travel arranged for us. Ayutthaya is absolutely amazing and a must see for anyone visiting Thailand - our guide was fantastic and we can thoroughly recommend etc Travel company who are based in Bangkok.
The Ayutthaya Historical Park comprises of the ruins of temples and palaces of the capital of the ancient Ayutthaya Kingdom. The park is located on an island surrounded by three rivers where the old capital used to be. The Ayutthaya Kingdom, which existed from 1351 until 1767 was one of the largest and most prosperous empires of its time. The ruins of many impressive temples and palaces give an impression of the wealth of the ancient Kingdom.
The remains of several settlements off the island built by foreign countries demonstrate the importance of Ayutthaya’s intensive trade with many foreign nations.
As most of Ayutthaya’s records were destroyed when the city was looted and burned by the invading Burmese in 1767, much knowledge about Ayutthaya’s history was gained from the accounts and maps of foreigners. Several museums including the Chao Sam Phraya National Museum on the Ayutthaya island exhibit a wealth of artifacts discovered during excavations. The Ayutthaya Historical Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991.

In this vlog, I am exploring ruins in Ayutthaya, Thailand.
The Ayutthaya Kingdom also is known as Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya was second capital of Thailand and was a really wealthy city.
Unfortunately, It has been destroyed with a war but there are still some ruins (Such as Wat Phra Si, Wat Mahathat, Phra Nakhon Si and more) that you can visit to experience the glory of Ayutthaya Kingdom.
Ayutthaya is easy to reach from Bangkok so make sure to come and check it out when you visit Thailand.
