York Restaurants, UK England
When visiting the historic city of York in England you should never have any difficulty finding something to eat. English food, Italian, Middle-Eastern, Asian, you name it.
There are all sorts of restaurants at all price levels from your simple sandwich takeout place to sit down fancy pubs to gourmet restaurants.
In the center of York on Grape Lane you'll find a legendary vegetarian restaurant called El Piano. All of their food is plant-based, it’s all vegan, gluten-free, nut free, palm oil-free, and with no refined sugar. They cater for everyone.
A true budget choice can be found in several of these kebab wagons that are scattered around town, if you're down by All Saints Church for example.
In the evening this is a really good place to have a quick simple dinner and it's going to be so inexpensive, about 5 pounds for a tasty kebab that's going to satisfy you.
And it's delicious with the sliced meats and the french fries. You don't need a reservation, you don't need a table just grab a sandwich to go and you can eat it at a bench or on the run.

THE HISTORY OF THE SHAMBLES, YORK
The Shambles (officially known as just Shambles) is an old historic street in York, England, with fanastic overhanging timber-framed buildings, some dating back as far as the 14th century. It was once known as The Great Flesh Shambles.

Shambles is now an obsolete term for an open-air slaughterhouse and meat market.
The Shambles in York is one of the most finest preserved medieval shopping streets in Europe and it's tight narrow streets snakes and winds it's way through York City Centre.
You'll find the street exceptionally busy at most times of day as it's one of the most popular tourist destinations in the UK.
If you visit make sure you head to Number 10 in The Shambles which is now an ordinary shop but back in history was once a butchers shop. Not much out of the ordinary there but the husbands wife was Margaret Clitherow who became a Saint.
Saint Margaret Clitherow's shrine is still in The Shambles and you can visit for free as you walk around these great York streets.
The buildings overhang the streets and you can see and feel the history as you walk around the shops here.
Definitely a recommended visit if you come for a walk around York here in Yorkshire, England.

Exploring Cumbria - Lowther Castle
On my trip exploring Cumbria, my friend and guide, Robert Croser, has taken me to Lowther Castle.
Lowther Castle is a country house in the historic county of Westmorland, which now forms part of the modern county of Cumbria, England. It has belonged to the Lowther family, latterly the Earls of Lonsdale, since the Middle Ages.

Continuing my exploration of Cumbria, Robert Croser, my guide, has taken me to the beautiful village of Askham.
Askham is a village and civil parish in the Eden District of Cumbria. It is in the historic county of Westmorland. It is situated in the eastern edge of the Lake District National Park, about 5 miles south of Penrith. Nearby are the remains of Lowther Castle, the site of the annual Lowther Show, a three-day event of country pursuits.

EXPLORING YORK'S MEDIEVAL CITY WALLS ????, York (England)
SUBSCRIBE: - York has, since Roman times, been defended by walls of one form or another. To this day, substantial portions of the walls remain, and York has more miles of intact wall than any other city in England. They are known variously as York City Walls, the Bar Walls and the Roman walls (though this last is a misnomer as very little of the extant stonework is of Roman origin, and the course of the wall has been substantially altered since Roman times).

Exploring Cumbria - A Look at Lowther Church and Mausoleum
Continuing my explorations of Cumbria, Robert Croser, my guide, takes me to St Michael's a stone's throw from Lowther Castle.
St Michael’s Church stands within an extensive Churchyard within Lowther park and in the shadow of the ruined Lowther Castle. A spectacular location which overlooks the River Lowther and commands fine views over forest and fell. From ‘hog-back’ Saxon burial stones unearthed in the Churchyard, it is clear that Christian worship has continued on this site for some 1000 years.
