WAI-O-TAPU THERMAL WONDERLAND, ROTORUA, NEW ZEALAND (2018) /// THESTYLEJUNGLE VLOG #17
New Zealand is famous for extraordinary landscapes, and Rotorua area will certainly surprise even experienced travellers. It is famous for the unique geothermal parks, where visitors can enjoy erupting geysers, bubbling mud pools, hot springs and colourful steaming lakes.
Waiotapu thermal park (also spelt as Wai-O-Tapu) is a perfect choice for those willing to see everything at once, but without long exhausting walk. It is officially known as New Zealand’s most colourful and diverse geothermal attraction.
Waiotapu valley hosts world famous Champagne pool – beautiful formation, named after the fuzzy drink not only because of its bright yellow colour, but also because of the abundant efflux of carbon dioxide, similar to the one in the real champagne. Among all the things to do in New Zealand, this one is definitely not to be missed!
Another reason to visit Waiotapu Wonderland is Lady Knox – gorgeous geyser, erupting daily at 10:15 am. Be ready to storm through some suspension bridges, hot springs and mud pools on your way there! Convenient track of Waiotapu will take you back to all the sights you might have missed after the spectacular performance by Lady Knox.

Review of Waikite Valley thermal pools (Rotorua NZ), 28km south or Rotorua city centre, you can turn off from Wai O Tapu and go along Waikite Valley road to these hot pools, which come from the Manaroa thermal spring. It was affordable! not too expensive, and it's an ideal rainy day activity for Rotorua. It's a bit like going to whakaari white island!

Thermal activity is at the heart of much of Rotorua's tourist appeal. Geysers and bubling mud pools, hot thermal springs and The Buried Village- so named after it was buried by the 1886 Mount Tarawera eruption- are within easy reach of Rotorua. Thumps and share if you like this video.

A few days in Rotorua
We spent a couple of days in Rotorua after our visit to Hobbiton. We visited Kuirau Park and Redwoods Forest which are both free things to do in Rotorua.
The following day was our anniversary so we spent the whole day at Waikite Valley Thermal Pools. They have fantastic outdoor pools and a great small campsite. A real hidden gem in New Zealand.

Hells Gate & Waiora Spa Rotorua
BOOK HERE:
Hells Gate and Wai Ora Spa is raw, angry and a little ugly. This Maori owned valley is steeped in culture and is known as the fiercest of the geothermal areas, the Hells Gate valley features hot-water lakes, New Zealand's largest mud volcano and also the largest hot water waterfall in the Southern Hemisphere. Here you can get hands on with the earth and the Maori culture as you stroll through this untamed wonderland.
At the Hells Gate Spa get down and dirty in the only geothermal mud baths in New Zealand with beautification minerals which help to clear the skin, all before you relax in the mineral spas. If you're looking for something truly one of kind try a Wai Ora Massage based on the traditional Maori style of massage known as Miri miri, which not only relaxes the body, but through karakia (Maori prayer) relaxes the mind as well.
Hells Gate Geothermal Reserve Walk - allow 1.5hrs
Take a walk around New Zealand's most active geothermal park -- Hells Gate! See a living breathing land, bubble with life and bursting with feeling and heat! Also try our interactive Maori carving area as a complimentary activity. Free interactive guided tours are also conducted at 9.30am and 1.30pm.
What is the difference between Hells Gate & Wai Ora Spa facilities?
Hells Gate has semi private mud baths with a very open spa area overlooking the thermal park. Wai Ora has private mud baths with an open spa that is secluded and set apart from the rest of the complex
