東横線、銀座線、山手線、京王線などが乗り入れる大きなターミナル駅であり、またオフィス街、繁華街が一体になっている大都市です。そのため平日、休日問わず人で賑わっています。賑わう渋谷の様子をご覧いただければと思います。

I walked around Shibuya Station on a weekday night. Shibuya is a city located in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. It is a large terminal station that serves the Toyoko Line, Ginza Line, Yamanote Line, Keio Line, etc. It is also a large city where office and downtown areas are integrated. Therefore, it is crowded with people regardless of holidays on weekdays.

I biked from Mitaka Station to Okubo Station (13km), mostly along the JR Chuo Line. I had never noticed the mural in front of Okubo Station before, but that is the beauty of travelling by bicycle -- discovering new things that may have been missed otherwise. The mural depicts the ninja-turned-musketeer Hundred-Men Battalion (teppo-gumi hyakunin-tai 鉄炮組百人隊 or abbreviated as hyakunin-gumi 百人組), founded by Tokugawa Ieyasu (1543-1616) to defend his shogunate in the new capital of Edo.
