Finally.....the last video from my 2017 Northeast trip!!
Date: Tuesday, 2nd May 2017.
Since we got a day off at Jaigaon-Phuentsholing Indo-Bhutan border, I explored the Google maps around Jaigaon and found this bridge located at a distance of just 20Kms, so immediately I decided to drive down to this beautiful place and capture few trains.
On one side of the bridge lies the Hasimara station while on the other side the railway track passes through an Elephant-corridor lying under the Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary, hence the speeds were restricted!
Believe it or not the weather in northern part of West Bengal was so pleasant even in the month of May, it even rained like cats and dogs later in the night!

A Beautiful Scenery Of River Torsa Khola
Torsa Khola is about 500 meters away from Phuntsholing Town. There are some people who live on the riverbank and it becomes very risky for them especially during rainy seasons.
River Torsa has been already swelling since 4 months ago and now it's getting worst. One must not attempt to cross this swollen river by means of swimming or ridding on a boat.

Sankosh River in Kalikhola, Bhutan DOOARS
Sankosh (also Gadadhar) is a river that rises in northern Bhutan hills and empties into the Brahmaputra in the state of Assam in India. In Bhutan, it is known as the Puna Tsang Chu below the confluences of several streams near the town of Wangdue Phodrang. The two largest tributaries are the Mo Chhu and Pho Chhu, which flow together at Punakha. The Punakha dzong, which is situated immediately above the confluence of the two rivers, is one of the most beautiful river in Bhutan and the winter residence of the Dratshang Lhentshog. After entering in India, it flows on the border of Assam and West Bengal near Kumargram. At Wangdue Phodrang, elevation 1,364 metres (4,475 ft), the river is joined by the west flowing Tang Chuu and it enters a precipitous gorge. The highway running south from Wangdue Phodrang to Dagana follows the river for much of its course. Near the town of Takshay is the confluence with the west flowing Hara Chhu.

I went to Samtse where I enjoyed the beauty of nature. Before, we used to travel from West Bengal(Indian) routes to reach all the way to samtse, that's, from Phuntsholing. However, today we can also follow our new road which passes through Ammo Chhu Bridge. Samtse District/Dzongkhag is located in Southern Bhutan which covers an area of 1,582 sq. km. Samtse is one of the 20 dzongkhags comprising Bhutan.

Jomolhari or Chomolhari sometimes known as the bride of Kangchenjunga, is a mountain in the Himalayas, straddling the border between Yadong County of Tibet, China and the Thimphu district of Bhutan. The north face rises over 2,700 metres (8,900 ft) above the barren plains. The mountain is the source of the Paro Chu (Paro river) which flows from the south side and the Amo Chu which flows from the north side.
The mountain is sacred to Tibetan Buddhists who believe it is the abode of one of the Five Tsheringma Sisters; (jo mo tshe ring mched lnga) — female protector goddesses (Jomo) of Tibet and Bhutan, who were bound under oath by Guru Padmasambhava to protect the land, the Buddhist faith and the local people.
On the Bhutanese side is a Jomolhari Temple, toward the south side of the mountain about a half-day's journey from the army outpost between Thangthangkha and Jangothang at an altitude of 4150 meters. Religious practitioners and pilgrims visiting Mt. Jomolhari stay at this temple. There are several other sacred sites near Jomolhari Temple, including meditation caves of Milarepa and Gyalwa Lorepa. Within an hour's walk up from the temple at an altitude of c. 4450 meters is Tseringma Lhatso, the spirit lake of Tsheringma.
In Tibet there is an annual pilgrimage from Phari Dzong to a holy lake, Jomo Lharang, which lies at c. 5100 m elevation, just north of the mountain.

Raging Wang Chuu river near Tashichho Dzong in Thimphu, Bhutan
Tashichhoedzong is a Buddhist monastery and fortress on the northern edge of the city of Thimpu in Bhutan, on the western bank of the Wang Chu. It has traditionally been the seat of the Druk Desi (or Dharma Raja), the head of Bhutan's civil government, an office which has been combined with the kingship since the creation of the monarchy in 1907, and summer capital of the country.
Thimphu, also in the past spelled as Thimpu, is the capital and largest city of Bhutan. It is situated in the western central part of Bhutan and the surrounding valley is one of Bhutan's dzongkhags, the Thimphu District. The city became the capital of Bhutan in 1961.
As of 2005 it had a population of 79,185, with 98,676 people living in the entire Thimphu district.
The city is spread out longitudinally in a north-south direction on the west bank of the valley formed by the Wang Chuu, also known as the Thimphu Chuu River. Thimphu is located at 27°28′00″N 89°38′30″ECoordinates: 27°28′00″N 89°38′30″E and is spread over an altitudinal range between 2,248 metres (7,375 ft) and 2,648 metres (8,688 ft). Unusually for a capital city, Thimphu is not served by an airport, but relies on the airport at Paro, connected by road some 54 kilometres (34 mi) away.
Thimphu, as the political and economic center of Bhutan, has a dominant agricultural and livestock base, which contributes to 45% of the country's GNP. Tourism, though a contributor to the economy, is strictly regulated, maintaining a balance between the traditional, development and modernization. Thimphu contains most of the important political buildings in Bhutan, including the National Assembly of the newly formed parliamentary democracy and Dechencholing Palace, the official residence of the King, located to the north of the city. As a metropolis and capital city, Thimphu is coordinated by the Thimphu Structure Plan, an Urban Development Plan which evolved in 1998 with the objective of protecting the fragile ecology of the valley. This development is ongoing with financial assistance from the World Bank and Asian Development Bank.
The culture of Bhutan is fully reflected in Thimphu in respect of literature, religion, customs, and national dress code, the monastic practices of the monasteries, music, dance, literature and in the media. Tsechu festival is an important festival when mask dances, popularly known as Cham dances, are performed in the courtyards of the Tashichhoe Dzong in Thimphu. It is a four-day festival held every year during Autumn (September/October), on dates corresponding to the Bhutanese calendar.

Phuentsholing- the Border Town between India and Bhutan
Phuentsholing is a small town of Bhutan situated near Indian border. The gate between India and Bhutan is called Bhutan gate. This is currently the only route to go from India to Bhutan by road. There is an immigration office in Phuentsholing near the gate. There are quite a few hotels and restaurants in Phuentsholing. Indians can apply and get entry permit within 2-3 hours by showing passport or voter ID. Thre are a couple of monasteries in Phuentsholing and some beautiful prayer wheels. You can get buses and taxis from here to Paro and Thimphu. Phuentsholing is at the foot of the hill. The elevation starts soon after phuentsholing while going towards Thimphu.
