Monell's! Amazing Soul Food in Nashville, TN!
Pass the peas, please! Today we're going to a Southern style all-you-can-eat brunch in the heart of Germantown.
After being told by more than one Tennessee resident about this neighborhood gem, I had to stop by and taste for myself. It's a southern brunch buffet where guests sit at communal tables amongst strangers and feast until they can feast no more. One set price gets you an all-you-can-eat buffet of traditional Southern favorites like biscuits and gravy, collard greens, creamed corn, sausage, bacon, pancakes, peaches, sweet tea, and on and on.

Very first audit of Metro Nashville Davidson County Courthouse. Thought I was actually going to the state building and accidently ended up at the city courthouse. Ran into a very triggered Deputy Director and some people ignorant of the first amendment and freedom of the press.

Cody Jinks Tour Dates
All Things Cody Jinks
(Fort Worth, TX) Acclaimed singer and songwriter Cody Jinks will issue his debut release under his new record deal with Rounder Records, Lifers, on July 27. The album's first single, Must Be the Whiskey, was released on June 15. As Rolling Stone notes, Cody Jinks is never one for pretense, but he cuts to the quick on [the] moody slow-burner [that is his] no-nonsense new single.
He leads a back-to-basics, populist outlaw musical movement thanks in good part to relentless road work and killer shows, and has already sold a quarter million of his previous independently-released albums. Jinks continues to perform strings of shows that sell out so quickly that he frequently has to add second nights at venues across the nation, including Nashville's famed Ryman Auditorium. His upcoming July 15 show in Lexington, KY recently sold out in just a few minutes.
We go all over the United States, man, and people tell us, 'Thank you,' says Jinks of his touring with his band, cheekily named The Tone Deaf Hippies. I hear 'thank you' more than I hear anything else. There's no bullshit in our show. There's no dancing, there's no sparkle-bottom jeans. We get out there and we rip people's faces off.
Born in Haltom City, TX, raised in nearby Fort Worth, and now based out of Denton, TX, Jinks recalls his first musical memory as hearing Merle Haggard at age three. He's been the number one influence ever since, he says. Schooled by his father in such American musical legends as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and others, and then on guitar in his teens, Jinks first started honing his own outsider style and steel-edged songs, as the Nashville Tennessean describes them, in Texas honky-tonks.
His dedicated fans are known as #Flockers for how they leap at the chance to enjoy his performances. As Rolling Stone notes, If there's a common thread between members of his audience, he figures it has something to do with their struggles to get by and the nagging suspicion that they're seen as marginal, undesirable people by the rest of the world. A Cody Jinks show offers solidarity.
Bikers, suits, hippies, cowboys - all of those people are at our shows any given night, he says. Men, women, old, young - just working-class people. That's what I came from. That's where all of us came from: people that worked hard, people that have had to work hard.
As D magazine notes, Jinks is the definition of a stubborn country traditionalist [with] rich, vintage-inspired instrumentation - think syrupy steel guitars and wailing fiddles. The Houston Press observes how His voice sounds like that of a man with stories to tell and opinions to share. And Jinks' lyrics are full of heart, and mighty relatable, says the Omaha World-Herald. Jinks sings with seemingly clear-eyed honesty, says Rolling Stone of his current single, Must Be the Whiskey.
Lifers celebrates the hard-working Americans that Jinks embraces as kindred souls on its title track. And he shares their diligence to giving one's all at what you do. He told Fort Worth Weekly a few years back, t's kind of a DIY punk-rock mentality: Just get in the van [now a bus] and go.

Old Hippie III - Bellamy Brothers Cover Remake by Jeff Cooper
I did this several years ago and admittedly the audio and video quality was not good. I had several folks ask if I could remake the song again and then things took a dive on me, but, now I'm working on videos again so this is for those that asked, hope it fills the bill. The other one (old hippie IV, below) was just a quickie to end the night before I went to sleep.

The Wallace family said they found a concealed recording device in their room at a Virginia Beach hotel over Memorial Day weekend. Angela Wallace, her husband and 11-year-old daughter found the camera pointed at the shower during their stay at The Knights Inn and Suites. The Inside Edition investigative team went to the hotel and approached the manager.

Home Of The Blues
Buck And Billo sings Home Of The Blues by Johnny Cash.
Johnny Cash, born J. R. Cash, (26 February 1932 - 12 September 2003), also known as The Man in Black, was a multiple Grammy Award-winning American country singer-songwriter. Cash is widely considered to be one of the most influential American musicians of the 20th century. Cash was known for his deep, distinctive voice, his trademark dark clothing which earned him his nickname, the boom-chick-a-boom or freight train sound of his Tennessee Three backing band, and his demeanor. He traditionally started his concerts with the introduction Hello, I'm Johnny Cash.
Much of Cash's music, especially that of his later career, echoed themes of sorrow, moral tribulation, and redemption. His signature songs include I Walk the Line, Folsom Prison Blues, Ring of Fire, That Old Wheel (a duet with Hank Williams Jr.), Cocaine Blues, and Man in Black. He also recorded several humorous songs, such as One Piece at a Time, The One on the Right Is on the Left, Dirty Old Egg-Sucking Dog a duet with June Carter, Jackson, and A Boy Named Sue; rock-and-roll numbers such as Get Rhythm; and various railroad songs, such as Rock Island Line and Orange Blossom Special.
He sold over 90 million albums in his nearly fifty-year career and came to occupy a commanding position in music history. Johnny Cash was born J.R. Cash in Kingsland, Arkansas, to Ray and Carrie Cash, and raised in Dyess, Arkansas. Cash was reportedly given the name J.R. because his parents could not agree on a name, only on initials. When he enlisted in the United States Air Force, the military would not accept initials as his name, so he adopted John R. Cash as his legal name.
While in Air Force training in 1950, Cash met Vivian Liberto. A month after his discharge, on August 7, 1954, they were married. They had four daughters: Rosanne (1955), Kathleen (1956), Cindy (1959), and Tara (1961). His constant touring and drug use put intense strain on his marriage, and they divorced in 1966.
In a career that spanned almost five decades, Cash was the personification of country music to many people around the world. Cash was a musician who was not tied to a single genre. He recorded songs that could be considered rock and roll, blues, rockabilly, folk, and gospel, and exerted an influence on each of those genres. Moreover, he had the unique distinction among country artists of having crossed over late in his career to become popular with an unexpected demographic, young indie and alternative rock fans. His diversity was evidenced by his presence in three major music halls of fame: the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame (1977), the Country Music Hall of Fame (1980), and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1992). Only thirteen performers are in both of the last two, and only Hank Williams Sr., Jimmie Rodgers, and Bill Monroe share the honor with Cash of being in all three. However, only Cash was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the regular manner, unlike the other country members, who were inducted as early influences. His pioneering contribution to the genre has also been recognized by the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. He received the Kennedy Center Honors in 1996. Cash stated that his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, in 1980, was his greatest professional achievement.
Maurice Williams and The Zodiacs - Stay (originally recorded in 1960)
Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs were an American doo wop/R&B vocal group, active during the late 1950s and early 1960s. Originally The (Royal) Charms, the band changed its name to The Gladiolas in 1957 and The Excellos in 1958, before finally settling on The Zodiacs in 1959.
Maurice Williams (born 26 April 1938, Lancaster, South Carolina) had his first experience with music in the church, where his mother and sister both performed. By the time he was six, Williams was performing regularly there. With his childhood friend Earl Gainey, Williams formed the gospel group 'The Junior Harmonizers', but as rock and roll and doo-wop became their primary interest, the Junior Harmonizers changed their name to 'The Royal Charms'.
In addition to Williams and Gainey, The Royal Charms were made up of Willie Jones (baritone), William Massey (tenor, baritone, trumpet), and Norman Wade (bass). In the winter of 1956, while still in high school, Williams and his band traveled to Nashville, Tennessee to record for the Excello record label. At the time they were going by the name 'The Royal Charms,' but the founder of Excello Records, Ernie Young, convinced them to change their name to 'The Gladiolas.' At the time, there were at least two other bands using the same name.
The song Little Darlin' was a #11 hit on the R&B chart in 1957, but did not break the Billboard Hot 100's Top 40.[citation needed] However, when the song was covered by the Canadian group The Diamonds, it moved up to #2.
Williams finished high school and while on the road with the band (after their station wagon broke down in Bluefield, West Virginia), the band came across a small car known as The Zodiac and the band changed their name. Shortly thereafter, Henry Gatson replaced Earl Gainey.
In the spring of 1959, Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs performed at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. Around that time, the group split and reformed. The members were Williams, Gatson, Wiley Bennett, and Charles Thomas. Later, Little Willie Morrow and Albert Hill were added. One month later, in the early summer of 1959, the band recorded in a Quonset Hut on Shakespeare Road in Columbia. The recording engineer, Homer Fesperman, recorded several tracks that the band had hoped would fetch them a hit. One of the last tracks that they recorded that day was Stay, a song that Williams had written a couple of weeks before.
After taking the demo of Stay to Al Silver at Herald Records in New York City, the song was pressed and released in early 1960. Stay is the shortest recording ever to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States (1:39, though the label read 1:50). Later versions of Stay by The Four Seasons (1964) and Jackson Browne (1978) also reached the Top 20, each selling over one million copies in the United States alone. The inclusion of Stay on the soundtrack to the film Dirty Dancing in 1987 led to the song selling more records than it had during its original release.
A 1961 recording by the group, May I, also released by Herald Records became, over the years, another million selling record.
Williams continued recording, touring, and releasing music through the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. He is still active on the music industry, residing in Charlotte, North Carolina.
