???????? Vatnajokull National Park, Iceland - the largest glacier in Europe
The Vatnajökull National Park is one of three national parks in Iceland. It includes the entire glacier Vatnajökull and the extensive adjoining areas.
The uniqueness of the Vatnajökull National Park is mainly due to its wide variety of scenic features, which are the result of a combination of rivers, glaciers, volcanism and geothermal activity.
Vatnajökull is the largest glacier in Iceland and also outside of the polar region and the largest in Europe.
Its area is about 8,100 km², which is about 8% of Iceland's area. The ice volume is estimated at over 3,000 km³.

คำอธิบาย
Iceland-Vatnajokull National Park
Vatnajökull National Park is one of three national parks in Iceland. It encompasses all of Vatnajökull glacier and extensive surrounding areas. These include the national parks previously existing at Skaftafell in the southwest and Jökulsárgljúfur in the north.
In general, national parks are protected areas which are considered unique because of their nature or cultural heritage. The unique qualities of Vatnajökull National Park are primarily its great variety of landscape features, created by the combined forces of rivers, glacial ice, and volcanic and geothermal activity.

Hiking Iceland's Vatnajökull Glacier
This was a day tour from Reykjavík to the Vatnajökull Glacier and the Jökulsárlón Glacial Lake, organized by Arctic Adventures (Note: This is not a sponsored video).
Jökulsárlón is a glacial lake with icebergs from the Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier, which is part of Vatnajökull. It has a has a maximum depth of about 814 feet (almost 250 meters).
Vatnajökull is a retreating glacier covering 3,127 square miles (8,098 km2), and has an average thickness of 1,300 feet (400 m). The glacier is covered with ashes from the Grímsvötn volcano, which erupted in 2004, forcing air traffic to be re-routed. Iceland has a large number of active volcanos, some under glaciers, and some peaking above them.
This is a long day tour - about 18 hours, including the trip from Reykjavík, stops for food, stopping at Jökulsárlón and hiking Vatnajökull. It is absolutely worth it though. Alternatively, you could drive across the South Coast of Iceland and stay in Höfn for a night.

Trail S1: to Skaftafellsjökull glacier.
This trail starts next to Skaftafell Visitor Centre and is well indicated. It is paved half the way, while the latter half has a fairly comfortable gravel surface. The trail ends in close proximity of Skaftafellsjökull glacier and you will get a good view of this impressive glacier. Those who wish get closer can do so but are encouraged to follow instructions on a warning sign at the trail's end. When heading back to the visitor centre it is possible to take an alternative route by turning left on the crossroads that you arrived at some 300 m before the end point (well indicated with signs).

VATNAJOKULL ICELAND AMAZING CRYSTAL CAVES IN ICE
These 13 unbelievable images of Iceland’s Ice Caves will leave you breathless
This is unlike anything I’ve ever seen, and it makes me want to take the next flight to Iceland and experience this amazing adventure up close, in person.
There isn’t much to say other than that Iceland’s Ice Caves and glaciers are something that seems to have come straight out a science fiction movie from Hollywood. It’s surreal. It’s fantastic, and it will leave you breathless.
In this article, we will take a look at the so-called Crystal caves of Vatnajokull glacier, which offer a truly mesmerizing experience.
Located in Vatnajokull glacier to the south-east Iceland, the caves literally grow and disappear. Each year as weather patterns change, the terrain does as well. Each year new caves form in different locations, which makes this already stunning landscape even more fantastic.
The caves offer a breathtaking view, there’s even a great hiking experience and the best part are the glacier trips which will result in countless stunning photographs if you remember to pack a camera.
The artistic shades of colors attract tourists from all over the world every winter.
The Ice inside the Ice Caves literally shape shifts, changing from what seem to be supermassive teeth protruding from the ice to massive waves trapped in suspended animation in a maze of countless interconnected chambers that show off the caves in a kaleidoscope of colors as light conditions change.
To get an idea of just how big the Vatnajokull glacier is, it covers more than 8,100 square kilometers or more than eight per cent of Iceland and is estimated to have a volume of 3300 cubic km.
Some of the glacial caves in the region are crafted by geothermal springs, but experts note that o the south side of Vatnajokull, the caves form mostly because during summer the surface of the massive glaciers melts due to weather conditions resulting in water falling into countless sink holes) and finally come out of the glacier tongue as a river.
But words cannot describe the beauty of these caves so here are some images to show just how incredibly awesome this place can get.
